Premier League clubs with highest fan arrests in 2024-25 and most banning orders revealed
Manchester United had the highest number of supporters arrested of all clubs in England and Wales last season. There were 121 arrests of United supporters in the 2024-25 campaign, putting the Red Devils ahead of Manchester City (94) and West Ham (77), according to data from the Home Office.
West Ham had the highest number of fans arrested in each of the previous three seasons, the Home Office said. Forty nine per cent of the arrests of United fans occurred at home games, with 34 of them for public or violent disorder.
The number of football-related arrests overall dropped by 11 per cent to 1,932 compared to 2023-24, and marks the first drop since fans returned to stadiums after the Covid-19 pandemic.
The most common arrest type was public disorder (32 per cent). The percentage of arrests for possession of Class A drugs was the highest since it became a Schedule 1 offence in November 2022, up to 19 per cent from an initial nine per cent in 2022-23.
The number of matches with reported incidents increased however by 18 per cent, from 1,341 to 1,583.
A total of 2,439 banning orders were in force as of June 1, 2025, an increase of 12 per cent compared with the end of the previous season, and the highest number in force since the end of the 2012-13 season.
Banning orders prevent individuals from attending matches in the UK and individuals subject to orders can be ordered to hand over their passports to police before overseas matches and tournaments.
West Ham had the most supporters with a banning order in force at the end of last season, up from 93 to 112.
Manchester United were second with 108, up from 89. Chelsea's increase from 54 to 80 moved them up from eighth at the end of 2023-24 to third by June 2025.
The most common reported incidents were related to hate crime – reported at 420 of the 1,583 matches where at least one incident was reported. Of those hate crime reports, 287 incidents related to race, 140 to sexual orientation, 20 to religion, 19 to disability and three to gender identity.
The number of hate crime reports at matches was up from 341 in 2023-24, and was the highest on record within the Home Office data provided which goes back to the 2017-18 season.
The number of online hate crimes recorded in connection to football decreased from 322 in 2023-24 to 212 last season.

Ineos staff member linked to doping worked at Manchester United
David Rozman, the Ineos Grenadiers head carer who was sent home from the recent Tour de France after becoming the subject of a doping investigation, spent a few weeks last season working with Manchester United, it has emerged. Rozman, a Slovenian, is alleged to have sent text messages to a German doping doctor, Mark Schmidt, in June 2012, shortly before Sir Bradley Wiggins became the first British man to win the Tour de France. Schmidt had worked for a team called Milram that, prior to its disbandment in 2010, had been rocked by doping scandals. Rozman spent four weeks last year working as part of an exchange programme introduced after Ineos co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe took control of Manchester United. The allegations regarding the Slovenian stem from a documentary by German TV outlet ARD, which was broadcast before the Tour de France and which drew on court transcripts and in-court reporting during the infamous Aderlass hearings. Those hearings resulted in Schmidt being jailed in 2021 for orchestrating a doping ring revolving around cross-country skiers and multiple cyclists between 2012 and 2019. Although Rozman was not named in the documentary, and was merely referred to as a longstanding member of Ineos Grenadiers, the Irish Independent subsequently named him, as well as publishing some of the messages referred to in court. In one of them, Rozman allegedly asked Schmidt: 'Do you still have any of the stuff that Milram used during the races? If so, can you bring it for the boys?' Ineos Grenadiers initially declined to comment after Rozman was named. Sir Dave Brailsford, who was in charge of what was then called Team Sky in 2012 and is now the head of Ineos Sport, was back at the race for the first time since leaving his role at Manchester United, where he was one of Ratcliffe's most senior lieutenants. But he refused to speak to journalists. A team spokesperson later admitted that Rozman had been informally contacted by the International Testing Agency [ITA] in April and that the team had 'promptly' launched their own review by an external law firm. Rozman is yet to comment on these allegations. Rozman's time with Manchester United is understood not to have coincided with these developments. 'David Rozman was informally contacted in April 2025 by a member of ITA staff, who asked him about alleged historical communications,' read an Ineos Grenadiers statement. 'David immediately notified the team of his meeting with the ITA and his recollection of the contents of the meeting. Although the ITA assured David at the time that he was not under investigation, Ineos promptly commissioned a thorough review by an external law firm. 'The team has acted responsibly and with due process, taking the allegations seriously whilst acknowledging that David is a long-standing, dedicated member of the team. The team continues to assess the circumstances and any relevant developments, and has formally requested any relevant information from the ITA.'

MANCHESTER UNITED could be in danger of bringing a near 88-year record to an end this season. The Red Devils have always been proud of their youth development at Carrington and have a record stretching back to before World War 2 that proves it. 6 6 Since October 1937, United have named at least one player who has come through their academy in every first team squad. That's an unbelievable run of 4,321 GAMES. It's a point of pride for many at the club, and a tradition that has proved fruitful in years gone by with 18 of United's 20 league titles coming in that time and three European Cups. However, with things taking a turn at Old Trafford after a dismal season last term, Ruben Amorim could be at risk of being the first manager to veer away from the record. United's academy graduates are dropping like flies, with Marcus Rashford leaving for Barcelona, Jonny Evans calling time on his career and Alejandro Garnacho seemingly surplus to requirements. Of course, the shining light of the academy, Kobbie Mainoo, remains in place and is expected to play a big role for United this season. However, should Mainoo pick up an injury or a suspension - having misses 17 matches last season - then Amorim may find himself struggling to keep up the tradition. 6 6 6 Tom Heaton could provide a backdoor route to keeping the run going, having started his career with United before returning in 2021. However, naming a 39-year-old third choice goalkeeper who spent most of his career away from United in every squad may not exactly be in the spirit of the tradition. United fans will be hoping that the emergence of youngsters like Harry Amass, Tyler Fredricson, Toby Collyer and Ethan Wheatley will instead keep things alive. Off the back of last season, Ruben Amorim will know that his priorities are getting results and bouncing back from what was one of the worst campaigns in the club's modern history. Relying on unproven youth prospects won't be on top of his list. United have been used to setting new record rather than bringing old ones to an end in recent times. Last season saw them set plenty of unwanted records after struggling domestically. They cemented a worst league campaign since the 1973-74 season - a season in which they were relegated from the top flight. While they also equalled their record for home losses in a season, losing NINE TIMES at Old Trafford. And they also registered their worst ever Premier League points tally, at just 42 points - some 16 points less than their previous worst from the 2021/22 season. 6

Borussia Dortmund have reservations over re-signing Jadon Sancho from Man Utd
Manchester United's plan to sell Jadon Sancho has taken another blow with Borussia Dortmund reportedly getting cold feet over the transfer. Earlier this summer, the winger was one of five United players told they have no future in Ruben Amorim's team. Marcus Rashford has left for Barcelona but the club is struggling to offload Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia. Sancho spent last season on loan at Chelsea and looked set to join them permanently, only for the Blues to pay a £5million penalty to cancel the transfer. Juventus have been linked with the former Three Lions star all summer but it is said they have now cooled their interest, while Dortmund are now considering whether to sign Sancho for a third time. His first spell in Germany, after joining from Manchester City's academy, was a great success, recording 50 goals and 64 assists in 137 games, form that lead to the ill-fated £73m move to Old Trafford. The 25-year-old returned on loan for the second-half of the 2023/24 season after his public fallout with Erik ten Hag and helped Dortmund reach the Champions League final. Sancho is willing to slash his wages by half in order to facilitate a move, while United's asking price has fallen to around £17m as they look to cash-in on the forward, whose contract expires next year. While this should make a transfer to Dortmund more financially viable, Sky Sports Germany report that the Bundesliga giants have some reservations over doing a deal. It is said that though they admire Sancho, they are wary of being criticised for a lack of creativity in the transfer market, especially after an underwhelming 2024/25 campaign. Moreover, there are question marks over the player due to him being rejected by both United and Chelsea, despite his obvious talent.
