‘Silent Night Guards, Warmth In A Cold, Uncaring City': Disha Parmar Posts After SC's Stray Dog Order

News184 days ago
Instead of complete 'erasure' of an entire community, Disha Parmar asked for sterilisation programs, regular vaccination drives, community feeding zones, and adoption campaigns.
The Supreme Court's recent order to relocate all stray dogs from the streets of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) into shelters has triggered a nationwide debate. Joining the growing list of celebrities voicing their opposition to the directive, television actress Disha Parmar has recently shared a petition condemning the verdict.
Known for popular shows like Pyaar Ka Dard Hai—Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara and Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, the actress dropped a post on social media and advocated for more humane solutions. Instead of complete 'erasure' of an entire community, she asked for sterilisation programs, regular vaccination drives, community feeding zones, and adoption campaigns.
Disha Parmar's Post
Taking to her Instagram Stories, she shared a powerful message that read, 'They call it a menace. We call it a heartbeat. Today, the Supreme Court says — take every stray dog off the streets of Delhi-NCR and lock them away. No sunlight. No freedom. No familiar faces they greet every morning."
'But these aren't just stray dogs. They are the ones who wait outside your tea stall for a biscuit. They are the silent night guards for shopkeepers. They are the tails wagging when children return from school. They are the warmth in a cold, uncaring city," it added.
While acknowledging the issues surrounding stray dogs, Parmar advocated for more humane solutions. She stated, 'Yes, there are problems, bites, and safety concerns, but caging an entire community of animals is not a solution, it's an erasure. The real fix? Large-scale sterilisation programs, regular vaccination drives, community feeding zones, and adoption campaigns. Not punishment. Not imprisonment."
'A society that can't protect its voiceless is a society losing its soul. Today it's the dogs. Tomorrow… who will it be? Raise your voice. Because they don't have one," the post concluded.
Other Celebrities' Reactions
Well, Disha Parmar is not alone in condemning the ruling. Other celebrities including, Varun Dhawan, Sanya Malhotra, Bhumi Pednekar, Adivi Sesh, Rupali Ganguly and Janhvi Kapoor, have also spoken out against the Supreme Court order.
Comedian Vir Das even urged users to adopt an indie dog. In a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter), Vir Das wrote, 'If you are a resident of Delhi. Can I persuade you to adopt an indie off the streets, more than one? They are extremely healthy, low maintenance, and will provide you with more love, affection, and gratitude than you could ever imagine."

Shelters Ordered Across Delhi-NCR
As per the Supreme Court's order, civic bodies in Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, and Ghaziabad are required to establish shelters with proper facilities for vaccination and sterilisation. These shelters must have the capacity to house at least 5,000 stray dogs each. The apex court has ordered that the entire relocation be completed within six to eight weeks, with a strict mandate that none of the captured animals are to be released back to the streets.

TDP MLA Prasad Daggupati Denies Abusing Jr NTR, Calls Viral Audio Fake: ‘Part Of Political Conspiracy'

TDP MLA Prasad Daggupati apologised after a leaked audio abusing Jr NTR went viral, sparking backlash. TDP MLA Prasad Daggupati has landed in the middle of a controversy after a leaked audio clip went viral, allegedly featuring him hurling abuses at Jr NTR and threatening to block the actor's latest release War 2 from being screened in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. In the audio, a voice purportedly belonging to Daggupati is heard warning that the film would not run in his constituency. 'It doesn't matter. War 2 will not be released, it won't run, it won't run. I am the MLA here," the speaker can be heard saying when another person tried to reason with him. The remarks sparked outrage among Jr NTR's fans, many of whom took to social media to condemn the alleged statements. MLA Issues Clarification and Apology Following the backlash, Prasad Daggupati posted a video message on X (formerly Twitter), denying any involvement and calling the viral clip part of a political conspiracy. Speaking in Telugu, he said: 'Those audio calls are not mine. This is all being done as part of a political conspiracy. For the past 16 months, conspiracies have been plotted against me in the Urban constituency. From the beginning, I have been an admirer of the Nandamuri family. I have always loved watching Balakrishna and NTR's movies. But now, fake audio calls have been created as if I abused Jr NTR. That call is fake, there is no truth in it." #MLADaggupatiPrasad #AtpMLA #NTR @tarak9999 — Prasad Daggupati (@PrasadDOfficial) August 17, 2025 The MLA further revealed that he has already lodged a complaint with the district SP and assured that the police will investigate. At the same time, he acknowledged the hurt sentiments of NTR's fans and offered an apology despite denying any involvement. 'If the audio call has hurt the sentiments of NTR's fans, I apologise. Though I have no connection to it, since my name has been mentioned, I am offering this apology. I will always remain loyal to the Nara and Nandamuri families," he said. Background Prasad Daggupati's clarification comes at a time when Jr NTR enjoys massive popularity, and War 2—one of the most anticipated releases—is under the spotlight. The controversy has further fuelled fan debates online, with many awaiting the outcome of the police investigation. First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Avinash Dwivedi Gives Major Update On Dupahiya 2: ‘I Can Definitely Tell You That…'

Last Updated: Avinash Dwivedi opens up on Dupahiya's journey from rejections to Amazon Prime success and confirms season 2 is set to release soon. Avinash Dwivedi is riding high on the success of Mandala Munders, but his Dupahiya series still remains one of the favourites among web series lovers, and it has been a long wait for season 2 now. Fans are eagerly waiting for an update, so when News18 asked Avinash when the next season of Dupahiya is coming, he gave us a major update and also talked about how the story was rejected by many before Amazon Prime finally agreed to make it. In conversation with us, Avinash talked about facing rejection for Dupahiya's script and revealed, 'During Dupahiya, I faced a lot of rejection. Many people said, 'This isn't funny; who will watch this show?' It happened several times. Many experienced people in the industry told me not to spend time on it, and it does break your morale." 'It is very, very tough because there may be many people who write shows very well, but meeting the right people in your life is very important. Reaching Amazon with a show like Dupahiya wasn't easy," the actor-writer shared while revealing the journey to making the show. Finally, while giving the much-awaited update on the second season of the show, Avinash revealed, 'I don't think I can reveal much, but I can definitely tell you that Dupahiya 2 will release in 2026. Our collective effort is to make sure you get to watch it next year. I can't reveal whether it will happen in the first half or second half, but koshi yahi hai ki jo bhi aaye vo acha hi aaye apke samne." Avinash Dwivedi on facing rejection Avinash Dwivedi has often opened up about initial struggles in his career. While revealing a heartbreaking statement by a producer, he said, 'Once, I met a regional film producer while I was looking for good work, and he told me, 'You should change your face; it's not good.' I was taken aback by this statement, and it really put me on the back foot. It took me a long time to overcome it. But then I realized that there are many such people who try to bring you down." Avinash Dwivedi on Supreme Court's decision Avinash and his wife, Sambhavna Seth, are parents to three little fur babies and often speak about animal rights. The Supreme Court decision on stray dogs in Delhi-NCR came as a shock for them as well. Sharing his views on the judgment, Avinash said, 'Mujhe esa lagta hai ki Supreme Court ke judgment mein zyda galat nahi hai, but I think what the SC said about taking dogs and keeping them in shelters—the management in between is something everyone should know about. If a dog is living in a good place and environment, there's no problem." 'But the problem is that there aren't proper shelters or places to keep them. So it would be better to at least vaccinate them properly. There are lakhs of dogs in Delhi, and suddenly moving them to a new place—I don't think that's right," he concluded.
