On Monday, Chirag launched a fresh salvo at Nitish by claiming that the law and order in Bihar had completely collapsed. Chirag said that the morale of criminals is at its peak in the state following two people being shot dead in Nalanda.
"In Biharsharif, Nalanda, criminals brutally murdered 16-year-old Himanshu Paswan and 20-year-old Anu Kumar by shooting them. This incident is extremely unfortunate and condemnable. This heinous event not only shakes humanity but also shows that law and order in Bihar have completely collapsed," Chirag said.
"Crime in the state is at its peak, and the fact that such an incident was carried out by criminals in the home district of the Honourable Chief Minister clearly indicates that the morale of criminals is at its highest.

Support for domicile policy
Chirag also supported the demand of implementing a domicile policy for government jobs in Bihar, becoming the only NDA leader to do so.
"I am fully in support of Bihari youth's demand for a domicile policy. The rights of our young men and women must be protected," Chirag said.
The Nitish government, however, ruled out the possibility of the introduction of a domicile policy, stating that any such move would be against the Constitution.
This comes after RJD promised implementation of "100 per cent domicile" if the Mahagathbandhan came to power in the state after the elections.
'Will contest in all 243 seats'
Earlier, the Union minister declared that his party would field candidates on all 243 seats in the upcoming assembly elections.
In the 'Nav Sankalp Mahasabha' organised at Rajendra Stadium in Chhapra, the Union Minister said that he will contest elections on all 243 seats of Bihar. He said that he would contest elections on all seats as 'Chirag'.
"I want to put an end to such designs by proclaiming, from this glorious land of Saran, yes, I will contest the assembly polls.
I will contest in all 243 seats. Every segment will see Chirag Paswan fighting with full intensity," Chirag said.
"These people are content with having secured their own future, and they worry about my vision of 'Bihar First, Bihari First' catching public imagination. So they are involved in a conspiracy to hinder my involvement in state politics. They are trying to create confusion in the minds of the people by asking whether Chirag Paswan will contest the assembly polls himself," he added.
This prompted ally Bharatiya Janata Party to clarify that what Chirag meant was that LJP would contest all 243 seats "as an NDA constituent."
"Chirag Paswan is a strong ally of the BJP. He is a minister in the central government, we had fought the elections together, hence won 30 (out of 40 Lok Sabha) seats. This time as well, as an ally of NDA, they will be fighting on 243 seats; seat-sharing is another thing, we will fight together, and win 200 seats," BJP's Shahnawaz Hussain said.
Meanwhile, Congress claimed that Chirag's proclamation is "not a good sign" for the ruling alliance and that the "weather scientists" will leave NDA soon.
In the 2020 assembly elections, Chirag Paswan's LJP fielded candidates in 137 seats but won only one. However, by splitting the anti-BJP vote, particularly in JD(U) strongholds, the LJP is widely seen to have contributed to the JD(U)'s poor performance.
The BJP ended up winning 74 seats, overtaking JD(U)'s 43, and emerged as the senior partner in Bihar for the first time. The assembly election is scheduled for the end of the year, where a high-stakes battle is expected.
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) – consisting of the Janata Dal (United) led by Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and the Bharatiya Janata Party – will face off against the Mahagathbandhan, which includes the Congress, RJD, and Left parties.

While 65 lakh voters are in danger of being disenfranchised in Bihar, reports of 'adding' 6.5 lakh persons as voters in Tamil Nadu is alarming and patently illegal," Chidambaram said in a post on X. Referring to the ECI-led SIR exercise in Bihar, Chidambaram alleged that migrant workers are being unfairly treated in the process, both in terms of exclusion from Bihar and questionable inclusion in other states. "Calling them 'permanently migrated' is an insult to the migrant workers and a gross interference in the right of the electorate of Tamil Nadu to elect a government of its choice. Why should the migrant worker not return to Bihar (or his/her home state) to vote in the State Assembly election, as they usually do?" he added, pointing out that many do return for festivals like Chhath Puja. 'A person to be enrolled as a voter must have a fixed and permanent legal home. The migrant worker has such a home in Bihar... how can he/she be enrolled as a voter in Tamil Nadu?' He directly accused, 'The ECI is abusing its powers and trying to change the electoral character and patterns of states. This abuse of powers must be fought politically and legally.' The Special Intensive Revision in Bihar has come under growing scrutiny from opposition parties, including the Congress and the RJD, who fear that the exercise is being used to selectively remove voters ahead of the upcoming state Assembly polls. The Supreme Court has allowed the SIR to proceed while issuing stern warnings that it will intervene should evidence of mass exclusion arise. ‘Election system in India is dead': Rahul Gandhi alleges 2024 Lok Sabha polls were rigged
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said his party suspects that the results of as many as 70 to 100 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections were manipulated, claiming that 'the election system in India is already dead.' 'Remember, the prime minister [Narendra Modi]...holds office with a very slim majority,' Gandhi said at a Congress event. 'If 15 seats were rigged and we suspect the number to be much closer to 70 to 100. If 15 seats hadn't been rigged, he wouldn't be the prime minister.' In the 2024 elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party won 240 seats, down from 303 in 2019. Falling short of the 272-seat majority mark, it relied on coalition partners in the National Democratic Alliance to form the government. The Congress secured 99 seats. Gandhi, who is the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, said the party has '100% proof' to support its claims. 'And we will prove to you that the Lok Sabha can be and was rigged,' he added. The Election Commission, however, dismissed the allegations as ' baseless '. It said that the Congress leader was repeatedly making 'unsubstantiated and misleading' accusations aimed at discrediting its 'impartial' work. The Congress leader added that he had been suspicious about the election results since 2014, especially after the BJP secured sweeping wins in Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. But the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly results solidified his doubts. 'In the [2024] Lok Sabha, we won the election [in Maharashtra],' he said. 'And then four months later, we didn't just lose, we were obliterated. Three formidable parties suddenly just evaporated. We started to look seriously for electoral malpractice.' He added that one crore new voters appeared on the rolls in Maharashtra between the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, and claimed that the bulk of those votes went to the BJP. The Election Commission had then said that attempts to defame it by parties that got an unfavourable verdict from voters were 'completely absurd'. ' Unsubstantiated allegations' Responding to Gandhi's allegations on Saturday, the Election Commission said that it had extended an invitation to him last year after he alleged electoral malpractice in the Maharashtra election. There had been 'no response from him so far', the poll panel said.
