UP CM Yogi inaugurates, lays foundation stone for 528 development projects worth Rs 1,515 crore in Sant Kabir Nagar
Sant Kabir Nagar (Uttar Pradesh) [India], May 26 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 528 development projects worth Rs 1,515 crore in Sant Kabir Nagar on Monday.
In his address on the occasion, the Chief Minister highlighted the government's commitment to rejuvenating Baba Tameshwarnath Dham and transforming it into a grand pilgrimage site to reinforce the region's cultural and spiritual heritage.
According to an official release, CM Adityanath emphasised that Baba Tameshwarnath Dham will be developed with a well-planned and organised structure, following the models of Ayodhya and Kashi.
He announced the construction of a dedicated corridor to ensure safe, seamless, and convenient darshan for devotees. Reassuring residents, he affirmed that no one will be displaced. Instead, a systematic rehabilitation plan will be implemented, with the interests of local traders and Gosains fully safeguarded.
CM Yogi attributed the progress to Baba Tameshwarnath's blessings and cited successful models such as the grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Kashi Vishwanath Dham in Varanasi, and Maa Vindhyavasini Dham, all of which have been rejuvenated under the double-engine government model.
He noted that Kashi can accommodate up to 50,000 devotees at a time today, while Maa Vindhyavasini Dham can host around 10,000 devotees. A similar scale of development is envisioned for Baba Tameshwarnath Dham.
Urging the administration and local stakeholders to take swift and responsible action, the Chief Minister assured that any development plan submitted for the Dham would receive prompt approval. He added that this initiative is not just about infrastructure but also about upholding the identity and values of Sanatan Dharma. 'Baba's blessings will shower prosperity upon the people of Sant Kabir Nagar,' he remarked.
Speaking on the inaugurated projects, the Chief Minister said they encompass critical sectors such as tourism, roads, drinking water, healthcare, education, sports, and urban infrastructure. These projects, he said, will enhance the quality of life and provide Sant Kabir Nagar with a renewed identity.
CM Yogi also visited an exhibition showcasing Bakhira's renowned brass industry, describing it as a significant source of livelihood for local artisans. He lauded the success of the ODOP (One District, One Product) scheme in giving Bakhira's bronze utensils a distinct identity. He highlighted that over 1.65 crore youth have gained employment through ODOP across the state.
Citing the successful organisation of the recent Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, which witnessed over 66 crore devotees, the Chief Minister said it reflects the strength, discipline, and organisational capability of a rising New India. (ANI)

The clearance was aimed at addressing flooding problems caused by the narrowing of the drain, which restricts water flow during heavy rainfall. A total of 370 encroachments were removed. Of the affected residents, 189 have been found eligible for resettlement and have been allotted flats in Narela, while 181 were deemed ineligible for rehabilitation. Karnataka High Court issues interim stay on basketball stadium project at open playground in Bengaluru's Indiranagar
The Karnataka High Court issued an interim stay last week on the conversion of a basketball court at Victory Ground in Bengaluru's Indiranagar, the only open playground in the area, into an enclosed stadium with facilities such as parking. This was after the Indiranagar First Stage Residents' Welfare Association moved the court against the construction of the stadium by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) in the popular playground that locals had used for decades. A division bench of Justice Mohammad Nawaz and Venkatesh Naik on May 29 ordered a stay on construction and posted the case for the next hearing on June 10. The Indiranagar first stage RWA asked the court to restrain the BBMP from proceeding with the construction of the stadium under a tender award dated August 14, 2024, and a work order dated March 21, 2025. The RWA also pleaded for the restoration and maintenance of the playground area of the Victory Ground. The proposed stadium, to be built at an estimated cost of Rs 6.5 crore, will convert the existing basketball court used for coaching by the Indiranagar Basketball Club, a private club, into a stadium. Despite protests by local residents, the state government proceeded with the groundbreaking ceremony for the proposed conversion of the basketball court into a stadium at the Victory Ground on May 8. The RWA then dubbed the day of the groundbreaking ceremony a 'black day'. The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by the Karnataka chief minister's political secretary and MLC K Govindaraj, who also announced the government's interest in constructing the stadium. Govindaraj is also the president of the Karnataka State Basketball Association and the Karnataka Olympic Association. The basketball court was walled off as a separate enclosure in the playground over three decades ago. A similar proposal in 2017 to convert the basketball court into an indoor stadium was halted following opposition from residents and a stay order from the Karnataka High Court.

Hemavathy canal protest: FIR against 3 MLAs, 2 religious heads
TUMAKURU: The Gubbi police have booked three legislators and two religious heads among others for Saturday's protest opposing the Hemavathy Express canal, a pet project of Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. FIRs were registered against 11 people, including Turuvekere MLA MT Krishnappa of JDS, Tumakuru Rural MLA B Suresh Gowda and city MLA GB Jyothiganesh, both from BJP. The FIRs mentioned two khavi-wearing persons (religious heads), but did not name them. Some non-bailable charges were also included in the FIRs as one of the police personnel was severely injured. They were charged under Sections 191, 115(2), 121(1), 132, 189(2), 190, 223, 351(2) and 352 of BNS. It's alleged that they gathered unlawfully at the project site at Sunkapura, indulged in rioting, voluntarily caused hurt to the public servant by throwing stones and deterred them from discharging their duties, among others. The protesters had alleged that Shivakumar was diverting the canal to take water to his home district Ramanagara. On Friday, thousands of people protested and blocked the Bengaluru-Shivamogga-Honnavara NH-206 at the project site at Sunkapura in Gubbi taluk. They set tyres on fire besides deflating the tyres of KSRTC buses, creating inconvenience to passengers. Shivakumar claimed that 40% of the work has been completed and the Rs 1,500 crore project cannot be stalled at this stage. It's being implemented after the technical committee submitted its report, Tumakuru district in-charge and Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara claimed. Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti V Somanna had written to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to stop the project, calling it 'unscientific'. Congress MLA from Gubbi ST Srinivas on Sunday said he too will oppose the project. 'I will meet Shivakumar and raise the issue as the project will affect farmers of Tumakuru district,' he told reporters. 'Attempt to murder inspector' In a separate FIR, BJP leader Dilip Kumar and his supporters Rakesh, Koushik and hundreds of others were booked on charges of attempt to murder under Section 109 of BNS. Turuvekere Police Circle Inspector Lohith BN was injured severely in stone throwing. He was shifted to Siddaganga hospital in Tumakuru.
