Sweetgreen, known for its customizable bowls and "plant-forward menu," will soon be available in four new U.S. cities, according to the company's leadership.
The Los Angeles-headquartered fast-casual chain serves bowls that customers can tailor to their own appetite, including choosing from caramelized garlic steak, wild rice and other combinations.
Sweetgreen has already opened eight new restaurants this year, including one in Santa Clara on June 10, Chris Tarrant, the chain's chief development officer, told USA TODAY in an email. On June 12, a location will open in Huntersville, North Carolina, he added.
Here is what Sweetgreen fans need to know about the future locations coming to four new markets..
Which new markets is Sweetgreen entering?
Sweetgreen is opening locations in new markets, such as Sacramento, Phoenix, Cincinnati, and northwest Arkansas, Tarrant said.
Sweetgreen's northwest Arkansas location will be in Fayetteville, as well as in Bentonville, at Walmart's home office campus, joining restaurants such as Ozark Mountain Bagel, Wright's Barbecue and multiple coffee shops.
Where are Sweetgreen's latest locations?
So far in 2025, Sweetgreen has opened the following locations:
Pennsylvania: 1359 Frankford Ave. Suite 2, Philadelphia
New Jersey: 221 East Broad Street, Westfield
Connecticut: 110 Albany Turnpike, Suite 911, Canton
Virginia: 3502 West Cary Street, Richmond and 4225 Fairfax Corner Ave. East, Fairfax
Wisconsin: 418 N Midvale Blvd. Madison
Michigan: 260 North Adams Road, Rochester Hills
By the end of the year, Sweetgreen will have opened at least 40 new locations, Tarrant said.
What is Sweetgreen's Infinite Kitchen?
Among the new locations, two will be Sweetlane or drive-thru locations where customers order through the company's digital platform, according to Tarrant. One of the new drive-thru locations will be like previous restaurants, while the second drive-thru location will feature the company's Infinite Kitchen or automated technology, Tarrant said.
Tarrant added that about half of the locations opened in 2025 will feature the company's Infinite Kitchen technology.
Sweetgreen opened its pilot Infinite Kitchen store in May 2023 in Naperville, Illinois, promising quicker and more accurate service with precise portioning.
The automated technology can perform tasks such as dispensing greens, dressing bowls and plates, as well as mixing salads. The automated system would allow team members to focus on food preparation and other tasks, the company wrote in a May 2023 news release.
'Team members add the final touches at the finishing station, with a sprinkle of herbs or a scoop of avocado,' according to the company.
What is happening with Sweetgreen in 2026?
Tarrant said the company plans to keep growing in 2026.
'We look forward to serving more communities as we expand our footprint with 15%-20% annual unit growth and offer different formats to meet our guests where they are,' he added.

Starbucks coconut water drinks to be tested in more stores: See where

While lovers of Starbucks' Pumpkin Spice Latte await its return, beverage connoisseurs in some U.S. cities can try the coffee chain's newest drinks – made with coconut water. Last month, Starbucks began testing two drinks made with coconut water, Coco Matcha and Coco Cold Brew, as part of its Starting 5 product innovation program in five New York City coffeehouses. The availability of the drinks will now be expanded to more than 400 stores across the U.S. The Coco Matcha drink is made with unsweetened creamy Matcha Cold Foam poured over coconut water on ice. Coco Cold Brew tops coconut water over ice with cold brew foam. 'With Coco Matcha, we wanted to create a drink that feels like a tropical escape in a cup. The vibrant, unsweetened matcha softens beautifully when blended into our creamy cold foam," said Starbucks beverage developer Patrick Penny in a statement to USA TODAY. 'Coco Cold Brew is a refreshing twist on a classic flavor pairing – chocolate and coconut – with a modern, energizing feel." Spirit Halloween: Holiday-themed stores are starting to open. See new, spooky items. Where can you get Starbucks new Coco Matcha and Coco Cold Brew drinks? Starting Thursday, Aug. 21, Starbucks is making the new Coco Matcha and Coco Cold Brew drinks available in more locations in New York City and these other cities: During this test, Starbucks will get feedback from customers and employees, but the company offered no details on when the drinks could expand to more locations. This fall, Starbucks also plans to bring to stores its protein cold foam option – like the coconut water-based drinks, as part of the chain's health and wellness initiative – an alternate topping that could add 15 grams of protein to a beverage. When does Starbucks' fall menu come out? Very soon. Starting Tuesday, Aug. 26, Starbucks once again begins serving its Pumpkin Spice Latte, along with the rest of its fall menu, which includes Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew, Iced Pumpkin Cream Chai and Pecan Crunch Oatmilk Latte. The market's sharp rotation may be winding down — plus, Meta hits pause on AI hiring

Every weekday the CNBC Investing Club with Jim Cramer holds a "Morning Meeting" livestream at 10:20 a.m. ET. Here's a recap of Thursday's key moments. 1. Stocks were modestly lower Thursday, extending the S & P 500 's losing streak to five straight sessions since last week's record high. The acute market rotation over the past two days out of stocks with premium valuations appears to be easing. "It usually takes about three days for these rotations to play out. But it looks like it might be a day and a half," said Jeff Marks, director of portfolio analysis for the Club. Looking ahead, investors are awaiting Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell's Jackson Hole speech on Friday. "That's likely going to move markets," Jeff said. During a CNBC interview that aired Thursday, Kansas City Fed President Jeffrey Schmid expressed hesitancy about a widely expected September interest rate cut. 2. Meta Platforms hit pause on its artificial intelligence hiring spree, according to The Wall Street Journal, after onboarding more than 50 AI researchers and engineers. The report was confirmed by a Meta spokesperson who characterized the freeze as "basic organizational planning." The latest action should not be viewed as a slowdown in AI investments, Jeff said, noting the millions of dollars that Meta has spent on massive compensation packages to new hires. "Maybe this is actually a good thing that they are kind of holding off on hiring. They're letting their team work and put their plan in place," said Jeff. 3. Walmart posted a quarterly revenue beat but missed on earnings per share. "You don't really see that too often from Walmart," Jeff said, though he added that it appears to be a result of one-time expenses unrelated to core operations. Walmart stock sank more than 4.5% on the news, taking our retail names — Amazon , Costco , and TJX — with it. Walmart's same-store sales in the U.S. did go up 4.6% versus the 4.1% expected. Similarly, TJ Maxx and Marshalls parent TJX reported a 4% rise in comps on Wednesday. 4 . Boeing is in talks to sell as many as 500 planes to China, according to Bloomberg. It's good news for the aerospace industry and a positive sign that trade talks between Beijing and the U.S. are going well. "This type of deal could get taken away in an instant if there is some type of escalation in tariff threats between the two [countries]," Jeff said. The Club added Boeing to our Bullpen back in April on the idea that planes could be used as bargaining chips by countries looking to reduce trade deficits. (Jim Cramer's Charitable Trust is long META, TJX. See here for a full list of the stocks.) As a subscriber to the CNBC Investing Club with Jim Cramer, you will receive a trade alert before Jim makes a trade. Jim waits 45 minutes after sending a trade alert before buying or selling a stock in his charitable trust's portfolio. If Jim has talked about a stock on CNBC TV, he waits 72 hours after issuing the trade alert before executing the trade.
