People will come and go but team's culture should always be about improvement: Gambhir
Gambhir conveyed his thoughts in a short dressing room speech after India secured a memorable 2-2 draw against England for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy on Monday, fighting tooth and nail over the course of five Tests.
"The way this series has panned out, 2-2, is an outstanding result. Congratulations to everyone," Gambhir said in a video shared by BCCI.
"Remember, we will keep getting better. We will keep working hard. We will keep improving our areas because if we keep doing that, we can dominate cricket for a very long time."
"People will come and go but the culture of the dressing room should always be like that (that) people want to be a part of this culture. That is what we want to create,' added Gambhir, after India averted a possible third consecutive series loss.
Two consecutive series losses to New Zealand and Australia had forced India into a transition period as a young side under Shubman Gill took on England.
He continued, "Good luck, enjoy yourself. You can take a couple of days off and you deserve every bit of it. What you guys have achieved, you deserve every bit of it."
The gathering also saw all-rounder Washington Sundar being given the 'Impact Player of the Series' award, handed to him by senior player Ravindra Jadeja.
Washington said, "It is a great blessing to be playing four games on the trot in a place like England. (I) always wanted to do well here and as a team, just the way we went about every single day, it was amazing."
"The energy that we created, especially from a fielding perspective, we were always there for each other. Thank you so much for everything," he added.

For me, the soldier who stands on the border, whose family often doesn't get to see him, who sometimes sacrifices his life and never returns home - their sacrifice is so immense for all of us,' Harbhajan told TOI. Harbhajan reminded the BCCI that the Indian government also has a similar stand that it would not hold peace talks with Pakistan as long as cross-border terrorism doesn't stop from the latter's side. 'Hum unko itni importance kyun dete hain? Are they that important? Are they that important ki har news channel unko chalaye? When you have boycotted them, when you don't want to talk to them, then why show them here? This is the duty of the media - to stop this. They shouldn't be adding fuel to the fire. Yastika, Radha sparkle as India A beat Australia A by 3 wickets
Last Updated: Brisbane, Aug 13 (PTI) Yastika Bhatia hit a fifty and bowlers, led by skipper Radha Yadav, struck at regular intervals as India A scampered to a three-wicket win over their Australian counterparts in the first women's one-day match here on Wednesday. India now lead the three-match series 1-0. Left-arm spinner Radha took three wickets (3/45) as India A bundled out Australia A for 214, and then chased down the target in 42 overs with Bhatia (59 off 70 balls, 7×4) leading the visitors' charge. India actually made a fine start with Bhatia and Shafali Verma (36 off 31 balls) adding 77 runs for the opening wicket in just 10.4 overs. After Shafali fell to Sianna Ginger, Bhatia combined with Dhara Gujjar (31 off 53 balls) and milked 63 runs for the second wicket as India marched to 140 for 1 in 23.3 overs. But Gujjar fell to Tess Flintoff and Bhatia to Kim Garth as India A were reduced to 157 for three. Off-spinner Ella Hayward (2/46) then ousted Tejal Hasabnis and Tanusree Sarkar in the 30th and 32nd overs, leading to the tourists further slipping to 166 for five. India found a saviour in the determined Raghvi Bist (25 not out off 34 balls) and survived the quick dismissals of Radha and Minnu Mani by left-arm pacer Lucy Hamilton to go past the tape. Earlier, Australia never really found the going easy despite Anika Learyod (92 not out off 90 balls) and Rachael Trenaman (51 off 62 balls) pulling off solid knocks. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been under severe criticism after it green-lighted the Indian team to play Pakistan in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, starting in UAE from September 9. Following the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor, calls to boycott the Pakistan game grew stronger. Breaking his silence on the India vs Pakistan clash, former cricketer Harbhajan Singh came out in public recently to blast the BCCI, thus expressing his displeasure. Having been clubbed in Group A together, India and Pakistan are scheduled to play on September 14 in the league stage. They are expected to face once again in the Super Four stage with a possibility of meeting for the third time in the final. Comparing the sacrifices which Indian soldiers make in the border, Harbhajan opined the calling off the IND vs PAK is a 'very small matter.' 'They need to understand what is important and what is not. This is as simple as that. BCCI was represented by vice-president Rajeev Shukla who attended the meeting virtually. The 45-year-old also urged the BCCI to put nation first.
