In an exciting initiative aimed at promoting fitness within the community, the Sharjah Sports Council has announced the "Sports Before Iftar" event, running until March 27.
This programme encourages participants to engage in physical activities such as walking and some body workouts from 5 to 6pm, allowing individuals to earn rewards while staying fit as they prepare for their iftar during Ramadan.
The men-only event will take place at 50 carefully selected locations across Sharjah, in collaboration with 10 sports clubs and specialised training centres.
With a target of attracting at least 15,000 residents, the initiative highlights the importance of maintaining physical health and community engagement during the holy month.
Participants who meet the established criteria will be eligible for cash prizes, providing an added incentive for those committed to improving their fitness levels.
Winners will be determined based on assessments that measure their physical progress and fitness efficiency, as well as their commitment to sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork.
The designated locations for the event include popular sites such as Al Hira Beach, Al Majaz Theater, and Al Qasba Canal, ensuring accessibility for individuals across the emirate. Clubs like Al Mleiha, Al Dhaid, and Al Batayeh will also host activities, offering diverse environments for participants to enjoy.
Dr Yasser Omar Al Doukhi, Director of the Sports and Community Events Department at the Sharjah Sports Council said: "This initiative has become a staple of our annual agenda, attracting a wide range of participants from various age groups. It not only promotes healthier lifestyles but also fosters a sense of community spirit."
Participants will have the opportunity to assess their fitness levels before and after the event, allowing them to track their progress and celebrate their achievements.
Dr Al-Doukhi urged all community members to join in and participate at a location convenient to them, promising a rewarding and enjoyable experience.
