Shooting that injured 22-year-old in Prince George ‘likely targeted,' B.C. RCMP say

THE CANADIAN PRESS/Darryl Dyck Authorities believe a shooting that injured a young man in Prince George, B.C., over the weekend was targeted. Prince George RCMP said officers found the 22-year-old victim after responding to a shooting near Quince Street and 20 Avenue around 12:30 a.m. Sunday. On Tuesday, RCMP spokesperson Const. Jenna Moore said investigators do not believe there is 'increased risk to the general public' following the shooting. 'The investigation is still in its early stages, but initial findings indicated this was likely a targeted event,' said Moore, in a news release. 'If anyone in the neighbourhood witnessed the event or saw something suspicious we ask that they please contact the Prince George RCMP.' Authorities are also looking for video that could help their investigation, including dash-cam, cellphone or surveillance video taken in the area of the shooting between 11 p.m. Saturday and 1 a.m. Sunday.

Man facing firearm charges after allegedly fleeing from N.B. RCMP

(CTV Atlantic / Avery MacRae) A 22-year-old man is facing several firearm-related charges after he allegedly fled from New Brunswick RCMP following a reported firearm incident in Willow Grove on the weekend. RCMP officers responded to a report of possible shots fired on Plateau Crescent around 3:40 p.m. on Sunday. They also received reports of a beige or gold Chevrolet Impala fleeing the scene. Officers came across what they believed to be the suspect vehicle and tried to stop it, but it fled into the Saint John Police Force's jurisdiction, according to an RCMP news release. 'The vehicle then crashed, and two individuals fled the scene on foot, while two other individuals, a 22-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy, were arrested at the scene,' the release said. Officers searched the vehicle and found a firearm. The unnamed 17-year-old was charged with possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle. He is scheduled to return to court at a later date. Eric McCann, 22, was charged with: flight from police dangerous operation of a motor vehicle possession of a prohibited firearm possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle discharging a firearm – recklessness McCann is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday. Driver killed in collision with tanker truck in northern B.C.

THE CANADIAN PRESS/HO- Peace Valley Environment Association The driver of an SUV is dead after colliding with a tanker truck in northern British Columbia on Monday. First responders were called to the two-vehicle collision on Highway 97 north of Fort St. John at approximately 1:42 p.m., according to a statement from the Fort St. John RCMP. Investigators determined the southbound SUV failed to stop at a red light at the intersection with 269 Road and was struck by the truck, which was turning left onto the highway. The SUV driver was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the statement. The highway was closed while crash investigators completed their examination of the scene. The family of the deceased has since been notified, according to the statement.
