Yahoo07-04-2025

Troopers are investigating two separate shootings on Hillsborough County roads over the weekend.
The first incident happened just before 11 p.m. Friday, when a 25-year-old Tampa woman driving a Hyundai Veloster north on Interstate 75 spotted an erratic driver in a 2000s model Honda CR-V, according to a news release from the Florida Highway Patrol.
The Honda veered into the woman's lane and she honked her horn to alert the driver, who fired at least one round at the Hyundai, hitting its right rear door, troopers said.
The woman drove away and called law enforcement. Troopers recovered the bullet from her door. The woman and her two passengers, a 23-year-old Tampa man and a 1-year-old child, were not injured in the shooting.
The shooter was described as 'a 25-year to 35-year-old heavy-set African American male with a short beard,' according to the release.
The second shooting happened about 2:30 a.m. Sunday on Interstate 4.
A 34-year-old St. Petersburg man driving a Honda CR-V west near the Interstate 275 interchange saw a group of motorcyclists driving erratically with another unidentified vehicle, troopers said
The Honda driver began recording the motorcyclists with a cell phone. One of the motorcyclists fired several rounds from a handgun at the car. The driver was not injured.
The shooter was described as a white man 'with a medium build and wearing a jacket with a 'Outlaws MC' logo,' according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.
Troopers asked anyone with information regarding either incident to call *FHP (*347) or send a tip through Crime Stoppers at **TIPS.

Alleged Antonio Brown gun shot victim recounts scary scene that led to arrest warrant: ‘Fear for his life'

The 41-year-old whom Antonio Brown allegedly shot at and 'possibly' grazed with a bullet in May has a history with the ex-NFL star and detailed how the pair fought for control of a gun in a harrowing scene. Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu's account is included in the arrest warrant filed Wednesday in Miami-Dade County against Brown for an attempted murder charge. Advertisement 'Mr. Nantambu stated Mr. Brown proceeded to shoot at him (possibly grazing him in the neck) placing him in fear for his life,' the arrest warrant, which was viewed by The Post, reads. Brown is being sought by police for his role in a brawl outside of a May 16 boxing event in which he allegedly fired a gun. A Florida Highway Patrol officer stated that he noticed Brown brawling with an unidentified male, but officers could not initially locate the individual. 8 Antonio Brown is pictured during the May incident. MEGA Advertisement However, officers did find two spent shell casings and an empty gun holster. A review of surveillance video revealed Nantambu, whom Brown is alleged to have punched in the face with a closed fist. A three-on-one attack of Nantambu allegedly then broke out. Advertisement Nantambu told police he has known Brown since 2022 and the two had a 'verbal altercation' before the punch. He told The Daily Mail in May that Brown called security over and said he was being jumped. 'He plays gangster and plays the police at the same time, then he blames CTE,' Nantambu said to the outlet. 8 Nantambu in a video posted May 20. @fff_zulqarnain/Instagram Advertisement Brown claimed on X on May 17 he was defending himself from robbers. 'I was jumped by multiple individuals who tried to steal my jewelry and cause physical harm to me. Contrary to some video circulating, Police temporarily detained me until they received my side of the story and then released me,' Brown posted hours after the incident. 'I WENT HOME THAT NIGHT AND WAS NOT ARRESTED. I will be talking to my legal council and attorneys on pressing charges on the individuals that jumped me. I will keep you all posted step-by-step on the process. Thank you for the support and love.' 8 Antonio Brown during the events in May. MEGA Warning: Graphic videos Nantambu walked away after a security staffer intervened, per the arrest warrant, and Brown then 'appears' to take a gun from the security officer and run toward Nantambu. 'Cell phone video obtained from social media showed Mr. Brown with the firearm in his hand advancing towards Mr. Nantambu on the outside sidewalk,' the arrest warrant reads. Advertisement 'The video captures two shots which occur as Mr. Brown is within several feet of Mr. Nantambu. The video also captures Mr. Nantambu ducking after the first shot is head.' 8 Antonio Brown running during the ruckus. MEGA Nantambu told police the two fought over control of the weapon, landing on the ground in the process. The police eventually came to the scene, and Nantambu alleged that Brown left with the gun, while he instead went to Aventura Hospital in Aventura, Fla., for his injuries. Advertisement Nantambu provided a photo to the Daily Mail that showed blood on the left side of his neck, and he said he also broke a finger. 8 Nantambu poses with popular rapper Akon. @fff_zulqarnain/Instagram He ultimately identified Brown to police and had 'visible injuries' that Crime Scene logged, per the arrest warrant. 'I'm feeling this burning sensation on my neck,' Nantambu told the Daily Mail roughly one month ago. 'I thank God I'm not murdered. God spared me from getting shot in the face.' Advertisement The two have a history, with Nantambu alleging in court files seen by The Daily Mail that Brown stole a pendant he had designed and produced. 8 An arrest warrant is out for Brown. MEGA He reportedly claimed Brown lied to authorities in the United Arab Emirates about the incident, with the former wide receiver allegedly saying he had actually been robbed, leading to Nantambu being imprisoned. 'He basically tried to steal it,' Nantambu told the outlet in May. 'He moved hotel rooms, left the hotel, stopped answering calls. And then when I confronted him about the pendant, he acted like he lost it.' Advertisement 8 Nantambu filed a lawsuit against Brown in 2022. @fff_zulqarnain/Instagram Nantambu filed a lawsuit against Brown in 2022 and won $968,960, but that was vacated two years later, and the case was ultimately dismissed, according to the Daily Mail. He is now seeking $123,600 in federal bankruptcy court, but Browns reportedly continues to maintain innocence, the court filings allege, per the outlet. 8 A photo of the incident. @NFL_DovKleiman/X 'I don't know if [Brown] premeditated a thought in his mind, like: 'Okay, I'm gonna say that he tried to take my chain and I'm gonna kill him and I don't have to pay him his judgment,'' Nantambu told the Daily Mail last month. He added: 'He thought he would get a free kill.'

Man accused of opening fire on thieves stealing his Lamborghini in Vaughan

As car thieves tried to steal a Lamborghini from the driveway of a Vaughan home, a resident allegedly came outside and fired shots at them. York Regional Police say officers responded to a 911 call for a 'theft of vehicle in progress ' at a home at Pine Heights Dr. and Pine Valley Dr., just south of Teston Rd., shortly after 4 a.m. 'While our call taker was on the phone with our complainant, there were sounds of gunshots in the background,' Const. James Dickson said Thursday. When officers arrived they arrested four suspects – three adults and a youth – who allegedly showed up to the home in a car they had stolen, Dickson said. Moses Newton Larmond, 20, of Brampton, Troy Boca Peart, 20, of Toronto, Nana-Yaw Kwarten, 22, of Mississauga, and a 16-year-old Pickering boy are each charged with attempted break-and-enter, attempted theft of a motor vehicle, wearing a disguise with intent, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. Kwarten is additionally charged with breach of probation. One suspect remains outstanding. The resident, a 35-year-old man, is charged with discharge of a firearm, possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose, careless storage of a firearm and unauthorized possession of a prohibited/restricted weapon. 'Once again, we're seeing cases where individuals released on bail are involved in serious crimes within our communities,' Police Chief Jim MacSween said in a statement released Thursday. 'To ensure public safety and protect our officers, we need a bail system that effectively addresses repeat violent offenders while maintaining public confidence.' Man, woman charged after recovery of $1M in property allegedly obtained fraudulently Video released as cops warn thefts from vehicles on rise in York Region Pair wanted for vehicle theft, fraud in Etobicoke York Regional Police said in a statement they understand the 'fear and frustration' such an incident can cause , but they cautioned that 'discharging a firearm in a residential area is extremely dangerous.' 'You risk hurting innocent people, including neighbours, your own family, or responding officers,' police said. 'Taking justice into your own hands is not the answer.' Parked in the driveway beside the white-two door Lamborghini coupe on Thursday was a black four-door high-end Land Rover SUV. Images provided by neighbour showed a tow truck had hooked up a black four-door Honda with its rear window shot out and police seals on its doors being taken away as evidence. Judian Holness, who lives on the street, said this isn't the first time police have been to the home and wondered why the owner would leave the Lamborghini out in plain view. 'The fact that it happened again, we just have to take better precautions, ' said Holness. 'Just as a neighbourhood, where you are putting your stuff, what you are showcasing out there.' Another neighbour, Kamiya, said she is worried for the safety of her family – her daughters under the age of five, husband and an extended family who lives with them. 'Sometimes I am alone in the house alone,' said Kamiya. 'I am scared sometimes. So many times the police have come (here). It is not the first time.' Around 4 a.m., she was awoken to banging but just thought it was her own curtains banging in an upstairs room in the house because it was warm out and they left the windows open. They have lived at their house since September 2021 and know that the people living at the home where the interaction occurred are the second set of renters who have lived there since they moved in. Asked whether they knew the people there, she said they have no clue who even lives there and they rarely ever see them. jboland@
