King to embark on ‘Kembara Diraja' across federal territories
KUALA LUMPUR: His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, has announced that he will embark on a Kembara Diraja (royal tour) across all federal territories.
His Majesty said the tour would enable him to witness the people's lives first-hand and personally distribute tithe funds to the poor and the eight categories of 'asnaf'.
The King made the announcement at the investiture in conjunction with his birthday at Istana Negara here today.
Previously, Sultan Ibrahim was synonymous with the Kembara Mahkota Johor (KMJ), a tour initiated by His Majesty in 2001 when he was the Tunku Mahkota of Johor.
The annual programme enabled the Johor royal family to meet the people and extend aid to the poor.

Anwar shares royal compliment on Malaysia's medical expertise
PETALING JAYA: Sultan of Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah praised the quality and expertise of doctors at the National Heart Institute (IJN) after receiving treatment there. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim conveyed this during the Higher Education Ministry's Ilmuan Malaysia Madani forum titled "Transport for the People: Balancing Affordability, Quality and Sustainability of Public Transport." The Sultan of Brunei was in Kuala Lumpur for the 46th Asean Summit with other regional leaders. On May 27, he was reportedly feeling fatigued and was advised by health experts to rest at IJN. Anwar also spoke about his conversation with President of Guinea-Bissau General Umaro Sissoco Embaló, during which he asked why Malaysia was chosen despite limited bilateral trade. "His answer was that he follows developments here and sees Malaysia as a country on the rise, with significant potential. That's why he chose to come," he said. Embaló arrived today for a three-day visit—his first since taking office as president in February 2020. Malaysia and Guinea-Bissau established diplomatic relations in November 1974. In 2024, Malaysia's total trade with Guinea-Bissau reached RM4.1 million, with Malaysian exports amounting to RM4.04 million and imports standing at RM0.06 million.

Fahmi sees off Brunei Sultan at Subang Airport
KUALA LUMPUR: Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil was on hand at the Subang Airport yesterday to bid farewell to the Sultan of Brunei, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha, who returned home. In a Facebook post, Fahmi also shared several photographs of Their Majesties' departure. 'The Government of Malaysia deeply appreciates the continued contributions of Brunei Darussalam in strengthening the spirit of consensus and regional cooperation. 'We pray that Their Majesties are blessed with lasting good health. Thank you, Your Majesties,' he said. Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah arrived in Malaysia on May 25 to attend the 46th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on May 26 and 27. His Majesty had been resting at the National Heart Institute (IJN) since May 27 due to fatigue and continued to rest at a hotel after being discharged from IJN on Saturday (May 31).

Dr Zaliha: JWP, agencies committed to implementing Kembara Diraja
KUALA LUMPUR: Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa has directed the Department of Federal Territories (JWP) and all agencies under it to coordinate the implementation of the Kembara Diraja (Royal Tour), as decreed by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia. In a statement on her Facebook page, she said the tour would provide an opportunity for His Majesty to personally engage with the people across the three Federal Territories and distribute zakat aid to those in need. Yesterday, Sultan Ibrahim announced that he would embark on the Kembara Diraja across the Federal Territories to observe the people's living conditions firsthand and distribute zakat to the poor and the eight eligible asnaf groups. His Majesty made the remarks during the 2025 Investiture Ceremony held in conjunction with his official birthday at Istana Negara yesterday. Dr Zaliha said JWP also fully supports His Majesty's emphasis on the need for civil servants to uphold the principle of Loyalty to the King and Country, which aligns with the Harmoni work culture introduced in the Federal Territories as a foundation for good governance. "As a policy-implementing body, JWP personnel will remain committed to enhancing the delivery of public services that are efficient, with integrity and people-oriented, in line with the spirit of Malaysia Madani," she said. – BERNAMA
