Reuters14 hours ago

June 15 - Nick Castellanos hit a grand slam, rookie Otto Kemp went 4-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBIs and Alec Bohm also homered and drove in three runs as the Philadelphia Phillies completed a three-game series sweep of the visiting Toronto Blue Jays with an 11-4 victory on Sunday afternoon.
It was the second grand slam of the season for Castellanos and the ninth of his career, tied for third among active players behind Manny Machado (12) of the San Diego Padres and Giancarlo Stanton (11) of the New York Yankees. Castellanos had a chance to hit another grand slam in the seventh but flew out to the edge of the left field warning track.
Kyle Schwarber reached base four times with two hits and two walks and also drove in two runs. Trea Turner, Max Kepler, J.T. Realmuto and Bohm each had two hits for Philadelphia, which won its fourth straight game. Ten different players had at least one hit for the Phillies, who finished with 18 hits.
Zack Wheeler (7-2) picked up the win allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits over six innings. He struck out nine and didn't walk a batter.
Ernie Clement went 3-for-4 with two runs scored for Toronto. Jose Berrios (2-3) suffered the loss allowing six runs on nine hits over 4 2/3 innings. He walked one and struck out five.
Berrios, who had allowed just one run in his three previous starts covering 18 2/3 innings, gave up two hits and a run on his first two pitches of the game as Philadelphia jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead. Turner led off with a double over the third base bag and then scored on a single to center by Schwarber.
The Phillies increased the lead to 2-0 in the third on an RBI single by Bohm and made it 4-0 in the fourth on a two-run single by Kemp.
Toronto cut the lead to 4-2 in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Alan Roden and a throwing error by Wheeler that allowed Clement to score.
Bohm put the Phillies back in front by four runs, 6-2, in the bottom of the fifth with a 433-foot two-run homer to left, and Castellanos then broke the game open with his grand slam off reliever Erik Swanson in the sixth, a 385-foot line drive to left.

Tennis ace Andy Murray becomes first ambassador for Walker's shortbread in 'proudly Scottish' campaign

Tennis legend Andy Murray has been announced as the first-ever brand ambassador for Walker's Shortbread, marking a major milestone in the 127-year history of the family-owned business. The iconic multi-year partnership is a celebration of Scotland at its finest – spotlighting the shared sense of national heritage, pride, and understated charm of two of Scotland's most famous exports. Both the tennis star and the shortbread brand started small, in little Scottish towns and through years of dedication and hard work honing their craft, have gone on to achieve international recognition. It is that shared journey that inspired the campaign's message: 'A Wee Bit of Scotland that's Come a Long Way'. Andy Murray, tennis champion and the new face of Walker's Shortbread, said: "I am proudly Scottish, and partnering with Walker's, a brand that has been representing Scotland around the world for well over a century, felt like a great fit for me. 'I come from a small tight-knit community and when I look back at where I have come from, I am proud of what I've achieved, which is something I share with Walker's. 'It's a real honour to be part of this next chapter for such a well-loved Scottish brand.' Picture: Charlie Clift With 46 tour titles under his belt and three Grand Slam wins - the two-time Olympic Gold Medal winner, and self-proclaimed shortbread super fan, added: "I've been eating shortbread since I was a kid – my gran would make it all the time for us. We even celebrated my Wimbledon win with shortbread. 'Shortbread is one of my simple pleasures. No matter where I am in the world, a piece of Walker's Shortbread always transports me back home.' Nicky Walker, managing director, Walker's Shortbread said: "We are incredibly excited to welcome Andy Murray as our very first brand ambassador. "We've always admired Andy's achievements, his dedication and his cautious charisma as well as his very obvious close relationship with his own family. "These are qualities that resonate deeply with our own values at Walker's Shortbread. We are genuinely honoured that Andy and his team have acknowledged Walker's as a suitable partner, and we are looking forward to this exciting new venture as we continue to promote 'Scotland at its Finest'.' The partnership will debut with a bold, striking black and white campaign, launching on 30 June to coincide with the start of Wimbledon. Shot with a cinematic feel, the ad showcases the shared qualities of both the brand and the tennis champion with a humorous twist – a nod to the warmth and wit Scotland is known for. An advertising campaign will see the hero image appear in major train stations across the UK, while the video campaign will roll out across social media and digital platforms.

Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri collide as George Russell triumphs at Canadian GP

Lando Norris crashed out of the Canadian Grand Prix following a sensational 200mph collision with McLaren team-mate and championship rival Oscar Piastri. As George Russell delivered a faultless drive to win from pole position ahead of Red Bull rival Max Verstappen, Norris banged into the back of Piastri as they duelled for fourth place with three laps to go. Advertisement Norris attempted to pass Piastri across the start-finish line but he misjudged the move and hit his team-mate's car. GEORGE RUSSELL WINS IN CANADA! 👏🏆 A controlled victory for the Mercedes driver who withstands the pressure from Max Verstappen behind 💪 #F1 #CanadianGP — Formula 1 (@F1) June 15, 2025 Norris was forced to park his damaged McLaren and immediately accepted blame for the incident. 'It is all my bad,' he said on the radio 'All my fault. Unlucky. Stupid from me.' The race ended behind the safety car with Kimi Antonelli taking third place – his first podium in Formula One – to complete a strong afternoon for Mercedes. Piastri was able to continue to cross the line in fourth and extend his championship lead from 10 points to 22. Following their collision at the last round in Spain, all eyes were on pole-sitter Russell and second-placed Verstappen at the start in Montreal. Advertisement Russell's reaction time was quicker than Verstappen's, and by the time they arrived for the opening left-right chicane, he was comfortably ahead. Even Verstappen, not adverse to a bold move, was unable to do anything to challenge Russell and the Mercedes man led. Verstappen kept him honest for the opening handful of laps but by the start of the sixth lap, Russell was more than a second ahead, and crucially out of DRS range. Russell celebrates his victory. Music to the ears of Norris, who made two mistakes in qualifying to start the 10th round of the campaign four places behind his title rival. Norris was on the move on lap 11 to take Fernando Alonso on the back straight for sixth before sailing clear of Lewis Hamilton four laps later. Hamilton endured another poor afternoon after he sustained damage to his Ferrari after he hit a groundhog before taking the chequered flag in sixth. Advertisement Norris started on the hard tyre compound which allowed him to run longer in the race and he assumed the lead on lap 16. 'We need one of those amazing races from you,' said his engineer, Will Joseph. Norris relinquished the lead on lap 29 when he eventually stopped. His second stint on the medium tyres lasted only 16 laps and he when he rejoined the track after his second stop, Piastri was 4.2 seconds up the road. With 11 laps to go, Norris had reduced the deficit to less than a second, and after a few nibbles, he launched his McLaren underneath Piastri at the hairpin. Russell. Verstappen. Antonelli 👏 After all that late-race drama, here's your top 🔟 in Canada 👇 #F1 #CanadianGP — Formula 1 (@F1) June 15, 2025 Norris made the move stick only for Piastri to draw back alongside him as they headed to the final chicane. Piastri held the inside line ahead of Norris to take back the position. Advertisement Norris sensed another opportunity on the run down to the first corner but he thudded into his team-mate to deal a blow to his championship hopes. Russell's win, his first since Las Vegas in November, takes him to within 62 points of Piastri. 'It is amazing to be back on the top step,' Russell said. 'We took the victory following an incredible pole lap (on Saturday).'

Bryan Mbeumo responds to transfer speculation after Man United transfer bid

Bryan Mbeumo has spoken publicly for the first time since Manchester United and Tottenham launched their battle for his signature. The 25-year-old appears to be on his way out of Brentford after an outstanding season in which he scored 20 goals for the west London club. Manchester United have seen a first offer rejected, in the region of £45m with £10m in add-ons, and Spurs have stepped up their interest after hiring ex-Brentford boss Thomas Frank to replace the sacked Ange Postecoglou. Speaking to Sky Sports at the Canadian Grand Prix, Mbeumo said: 'It (transfer speculation) is a bit new for me I would say! I think it can be the life of a footballer and you need to accept it. 'It's been my best season so far in the Premier League. And even collectively, I think we did play very good games. I think we've been unlucky to chase the Europe spot, but I think it's been a fantastic season.' United are reported to be preparing a second bid and believe they have the edge over Spurs in the race to lure Mbeumo. But Spurs now have Frank in their corner – as well as Champions League football after beating United in the Europa League final – and Mbeumo lauded his former manager's talents. 'He's done so much for me, he literally trusted me from the start. I think he developed the team so well. He developed me as a human and a player as well. So I can only wish him all the best, and I'm sure he's going to do well. 'I think he knows everything. He's really smart. He knows where he wants to bring the team, how he wants to play. I think he's been fantastic for Brentford. I think he's going to [need] some time to adapt, obviously: [Champions League] games, more expectations, but I'm sure he's going to do well. 'He knows how to talk to people. He knows how to build a group. And that's why we've been playing so well.'
