Chilling footage shows massive shark stalking surfers at Sydney's Bondi Beach
The drone footage shows the ocean predator just metres from the surfers as they waited to catch a wave.
It was so close to the shore the person who took the video remarked that 'if it gets any closer to the beach, it will need a towel and sunscreen', Sunrise newsreader Edwina Bartholomew told viewers on Thursday.
'A shark has been spotted just over the breakers at Bondi Beach,' Bartholomew said of the video, which was taken this week and shared via the Instagram account Bondiripper.
'The stunning video starts up close, then zooms out.
'Have a look at how close he is to surfers and one of Australia's most famous beaches.'
There are an average of 2.8 fatalities each year from shark attacks according to the Australian Shark-Incident Database.
On average, there are seven incidents in which the person is uninjured.
Three fatal shark attacks have been recorded this year, one in Queensland, one in South Australia and one in Western Australia.
The clip comes just days after a nine-year-old boy was attacked by a shark at Tathra Beach, on the NSW South Coast, on Thursday.
Bowie Daly told the ABC he felt a tug on his board.
'When I came back up, I saw a giant back and I realised it was a shark and then I started screaming for help,' he said.
Fortunately Bowie came away from the incident unscathed.

Kseniya Alexandrova: Former Russian Miss Universe contestant dies after car crash with elk
A former Miss Universe beauty pageant contestant who represented Russia on the world stage has died following a freak accident after an elk smashed through the windscreen of the car she was travelling in. Kseniya Alexandrova, 30, was rescued from the crash scene in the Russian town of Tver Oblast in July, before being diagnosed with severe brain injuries. Russian news sources have now reported that Ms Alexandrova succumbed to her injuries and passed away on August 12. 'Everything was covered in blood,' Ms Alexandrova's husband of four months explained before adding that she was rendered unconscious from the impact. Emergency services arrived on the scene 15 minutes after the crash, and the former Miss Universe contestant was transported to a Moscow hospital, but her injuries ultimately proved fatal. In addition to her modelling career, Ms Alexandrova was also a practising psychologist, having earned a degree from Moscow Pedagogical State University, according to her Instagram page. 'It is with great sadness that we inform you that our colleague and friend, model Kseniya Alexandrova, passed away yesterday evening,' Modeling agency Modus Vivendis, who represented her, confirmed in a statement on Instagram. 'Kseniya was bright [and] talented. She knew how to inspire, support and give warmth to everyone who was around. For us, she will forever remain a symbol of beauty, kindness and inner strength. 'We sincerely mourn and express our deepest condolences to her family, friends and everyone who had the good fortune to know Kseniya,' the statement added.

Former AFLW star Moana Hope details excessive verbal abuse at local footy game
Former AFLW star Moana Hope has called out the "vile and disgusting" verbal abuse she was on the receiving end of at a local football game over the weekend. The 37-year-old, who used to play for Collingwood and North Melbourne, said she was really disappointed in the excessive and relentless verbal attacks from both opposition players and the crowd during a qualifying finals clash. "As a parent, I was concerned, and I questioned whether it was the safest place for my kids and my family," Hope posted to her Instagram. "On the field there were a few players that were incredibly, incredibly inappropriate with the verbal abuse that they were giving me, the personal attacks. "They were saying horrible things, things they were saying about my personal life and about me and the people that I love." It comes as the AFL integrity unit investigates Adelaide star Izak Rankine for the alleged use of a homophobic slur during Saturday night's win over Collingwood. Hope plays in Essendon Districts Football League women's premier division for Aberfeldie. She said her coaches put in a complaint to the league, which she trusts will "fulfil their due diligence" on the matter. At one stage, Hope alleged an opposition player threatened her with physical violence. "The ball was nowhere in sight, by the way, not that that would make a difference. It wouldn't. It was just a really horrible experience and really unwarranted, unacceptable and embarrassing," Hope said. Hope said one man in the crowd "stood there all day" throwing abuse at her, within ear shot of her family, including her small kids. "The things that he was saying were vile and disgusting and nothing short of just a personal attack on me, for absolutely no reason. I spoke to my mum after the game, and she said she felt completely and utterly uncomfortable about it," Hope said. While she said the majority of clubs her side has come up against all season have been incredible, this was a really disheartening experience. "I just want to say this, if you're going to go and support a football team, support that team. Don't abuse, don't scream or threaten players just for no reason other than you think it's appropriate," Hope said. "That's not footy, and that's not welcome … you might have been able to go on and have done that in the 1950s and got away with it, but that's not played in the spirit of the game. "That's not footy, man. That's just abuse." The league has been contacted for comment and is not yet in a place to provide one.
