Seahawks Rookie Quarterback Using Virtual Reality Headset to Up His Game
Seattle Seahawks quarterback Jalen Milroe plans to use a virtual reality headset to practice.
The Seahawks third-round draft pick is spending his rookie season working on his fundamentals to become a better passer, including using a VR headset to go through his progressions and pocket presence. Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels, the 2024 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, used VR to aid in his development last season. In the meantime, the Seahawks have expressed interest in getting the young signal-caller on the field as quickly as possible.
'My new head coach [Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald], we talked about [using a VR headset],' Milroe said in an interview with local sports news outlet
Daniels has been a case study in using VR to develop his mental processing. According to an October report in
'It moves faster within the VR than actual human beings,' Daniels told The Athletic. 'Once you get out there, everything slows down. I know this is coming. I've seen this before, [and] it moved more than 20 times faster in VR.'
Besides the VR headset, Milroe has been working on his throwing mechanics. Seattle Sports reported that he has been working with former NFL quarterback turned quarterback coach Jordan Palmer. Palmer has

'The biggest thing is everything works from the ground up at the quarterback position,' Milroe told the outlet. 'It's understanding the lower-half mechanics of how I operate. Every quarterback is different, and so … it's understanding how to distribute my body when it comes to the lower-half mechanics. That's been a focus for us.'
'It's all about being an efficient passer,' he added. 'And so the more you work, the more you understand your body, you're going to be more of an efficient passer. So that's something that we continue to work on.'
Milroe enters a situation where he will not have to start right away. Seattle signed veteran free agent Sam Darnold to a three-year, $100.5 million contract, but according to
Milroe emerged as a dual-threat quarterback at Alabama. He finished his college career with 6,016 passing yards and 45 touchdowns with 20 interceptions. He added 1,577 rushing yards and 33 TDs on the ground. Thanks to his prolific rushing, blazing fast 4.4 40-yard dash, and
Realizing this potential, the Seahawks have plans to get Milroe on the field as soon as possible.
'We just added an explosive weapon while he develops as a quarterback,' general manager John Schneider said in a
But Macdonald was quick to shut down comparisons to New Orleans Saints utility player Taysom Hill, who had similar size, speed and success as a runner coming out of college. Hill entered the league as a quarterback, but is currently listed as a tight end and has been used as a running back, receiver, fullback, special teamer, and passer in his time in New Orleans.
'Taysom is such a great player, and the way they used him was more of, like, in a tight end-fullback hybrid role, sometimes taking snaps,' he said. 'Jalen's a quarterback through and through. He's going to be trained to play quarterback for us, and when he's in there, he's going to be playing quarterback, but the athleticism is going to come to life when he's on the field, and that's how he's going to help us.'

Seahawks all-time record vs AFC South: updated for 2025
Seahawks all-time record vs AFC South: updated for 2025 For the past two years, we at Seahawks Wire have been tracking the Seattle Seahawks' all-time records against every team in the NFL. It is important, we feel, to keep an updated log of Seattle's history and how they stack up with other squads in the league. We are resuming this ongoing series with updated records headed into the 2025 season. So far in this series, we have covered the NFC West and NFC South. In 2025, Seattle is also paired with teams from the AFC South. Interestingly enough, the NFC South and AFC South were the two divisions the Seahawks had to play during their legendary 2013 Super Bowl XLVIII championship season. Without further ado, here is how Seattle stacks up all-time in their rare meetings with these cross-conference foes. All-time record: Seattle leads the series 4-1 Regular season : Seattle leads the series 4-1 : Seattle leads the series 4-1 Postseason: N/A Longest win streak: the Seahawks are currently on a three-game winning streak over Houston, dating back to September 2013. Most recent outcome: December 12th, 2021 - the Seahawks obliterate the Texans 33-13 in their own building. The 2021 campaign was a lost one for Seattle, but the Seahawks finished strong. Running back Rashaad Penny bulldozed his way to 137 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the rout. All-time record: Baltimore/Indianapolis leads the series 7-6 Regular season : Baltimore/Indianapolis leads the series 7-6 : Baltimore/Indianapolis leads the series 7-6 Postseason: N/A Longest win streak: both teams' longest streak over the other is only two games in a row. The Colts have done this three times, both in Baltimore and Indianapolis. The Seahawks have won the last two meetings, dating back to October 2017... should they win in 2025, it will be the longest win streak by either team in the series. Most recent outcome: September 12th, 2021 - the Seahawks opened the eventually-doomed 2021 season with a solid 28-16 win over the Colts in Indianapolis. Carlos Dunlap tackling Carson Wentz in the header photo is a good reminder of how quickly life changes in the NFL. Jacksonville Jaguars All-time record: Seattle leads the series 6-3 Regular season : Seattle leads the series 6-3 : Seattle leads the series 6-3 Postseason: N/A Longest win streak: Seattle, two games twice... once from November 2000 to October 2001 and October 2009 to September 2013. Most recent outcome: October 31st, 2021 - the Seahawks claim their first home victory of the season on Halloween, scaring rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence with a 31-7 win over the listless Urban Meyer-led Jaguars. All-time record: Seattle leads the series 11-8 Regular season : Seattle leads the series 11-7 : Seattle leads the series 11-7 Postseason: the only time these two teams met in the playoffs was when the Titans were the Houston Oilers, but the win is still credited to Tennessee so they are 1-0 over the Seahawks Longest win streak: Seattle, five games, from December 1994 until December 2005. Most recent outcome: December 24th, 2023 - Seahawks keep their playoff hopes alive with a heroic comeback drive orchestrated by Geno Smith to escape Music City with a 20-17 win.

They'll have an explosive offense again this season, but another trade could possibility give the Washington Commanders even more firepower.
They'll have an explosive offense again this season, but another trade could possibility give the Washington Commanders even more firepower. originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Washington Commanders had a potent rushing attack last season en route to a 12-5 record and conference championship berth. That ground game was dominated by the dual-threat prowess of rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, but the running backs also held their own. Advertisement Offensive coordinator guru Kliff Kingsbury has spoken highly of starter Brian Robinson Jr. as well as veteran contributor Austin Ekeler and returning pieces Jeremy McNichols and Chris Rodriguez Jr. He could be content rolling out this group again in 2025. The Commanders traded for Pro Bowl weapons as more help to other areas of the offense in left tackle Laremy Tunsil and versatile receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. They'll have an explosive offense again this season, but another trade could possibility add even more firepower. Jarrett Bailey of the Sporting News picks Washington as a logical trade partner with the Buffalo Bills for star running back James Cook. Advertisement Cook, who led the NFL in rushing touchdowns last season (16), is in the midst of a contract dispute with the Bills front office. While Buffalo hasn't explicitly engaged in any trade talks, not paying their leading rusher after the Bills' other important pieces were re-signed this offseason raises some eyebrows about a potential divorce. Should both sides be interested, Bailey predicts the always active Washington GM Adam Peters to send Buffalo valuable draft capital in exchange for the ball carrier. WAS gets: RB James Cook, 2026 fourth-round pick BUF gets: 2026 third-round pick, 2026 sixth-round pick Advertisement This move could push the Commanders deeper into Super Bowl contention, but might greatly limit their flexibility for the future. Trading away a Day 2 NFL Draft pick would leave Washington with no Day 2 selections next year after sending one to Houston in the deal that brought in Tunsil. That comes after only picking five rookies in this year's Draft. While it makes sense to improve the roster as much as possible to maximize Daniels' cheap rookie contract, this aggressiveness is a major gamble with only one payoff: a Super Bowl title. If they don't win immediately? The Commanders would be pretty handcuffed in trying to keep that core together. Advertisement As crazy as it sounds, Washington might be better off holding onto their already slim draft capital because they may not need a guy like James Cook. If last season was any indication of the future, the Commanders are already in a Super Bowl window with the offense they currently have. While the Cook situation is intriguing to poke around at, it's safe to assume that Washington is comfortable with where they are offensively. Seth Rollins on why Caleb Williams will have better Year 2 than Jayden Daniels
Seth Rollins on why Caleb Williams will have better Year 2 than Jayden Daniels Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams and Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels will be compared for the duration of their NFL careers. The first and second overall picks, respectively, have all of the talent and potential to thrive and be the face of the league for the long term. But while Daniels had an easy-going rookie season -- en route to Offensive Rookie of the Year honors -- Williams dealt with adversity and still faces plenty of criticism after just one year. During a recent appearance on the "Up & Adams" show, WWE superstar (and noted Bears fan) Seth Rollins explained why he believes Williams will have a better 2025 season than Daniels. "I think Caleb Williams is going to have a better year," Rollins said. "I think last year was an aberration. I think you're going to see a little bit of a sophomore slump. I think people are going to be able to gameplan for (Jayden) better. ... I just think the second year is going to be more difficult. You look at C.J. had a great year, but compared to the rookie year, not quite as good. I think you're going to look at it and see a situation like that whereas expectations are going to be a little bit lower for Caleb, and I think he's going to be able to exceed those. Plus, he's playing in a system with Ben Johnson that's going to be curated better to him than what he was doing with Shane Waldron." While it's easy to deem Rollins a "superfan" defending "his" quarterback, he brings up a good point. A sophomore slump could potentially be in play for Daniels, who had a lights-out rookie season. Also, we haven't even glimpsed Williams' ceiling after his chaotic rookie season that featured incompetent coaching. Now with Ben Johnson in place, we should get a taste of what Williams can really bring to the field. There's no reason Williams and Daniels can't both be great -- and we could very well be witnessing the beginning of that -- but people love to compare and declare who's better. That's a question that wouldn't even be answered for several years. But with both Williams and Daniels in the NFC, they'll be seeing a lot of each other throughout their careers -- especially if their respective teams become perennial playoff teams. Williams and Daniels will square off again for the second time in as many seasons when the Commanders host the Bears on Monday Night Football in Week 6. While Williams nearly won the first match -- before Tyrique Stevenson's blunder on a Hail Mary -- he'll have a chance to redeem himself and even the series with Daniels on Oct. 13.
