JD Vance reacts to brutal parody in latest 'South Park' episode

Vice President JD Vance doesn't sound too upset about his "South Park" debut. The vice president reacted on X after being spoofed in the latest episode of the Comedy Central series, which depicted him as a servant of President Donald Trump. "Well, I've finally made it," Vance wrote on X on Thursday, Aug. 7, in response to a photo of his portrayal on the show. The latest "South Park" episode, titled "Got a Nut," ends with a sequence set at Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort. Both Trump and Vance appear on screen, using photos of them crudely placed on animated bodies. The Vance spoof appeared to be inspired by Hervé Villechaize's sidekick character, Tattoo, from the '70s and '80s ABC series "Fantasy Island." Vance in the episode is physically and verbally abused by Trump, who calls him "stupid" and at one point kicks him until he flies off screen. In another scene, he offers to rub baby oil on Trump's lover, Satan. The main plot of the episode involves school counselor Mr. Mackey joining Immigration and Customs Enforcement because he is in desperate need of money. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem is mocked throughout and shown repeatedly shooting dogs, a reference to the fact that she once shot and killed an "untrainable" dog. This was the latest chapter in an ongoing feud between "South Park" and the White House, which began with the Season 27 premiere on July 23. The episode, "Sermon on the 'Mount," had Trump get into bed with Satan, and it presented him as a thin-skinned bully who threatens to sue anyone who crosses him. After uproar, 'South Park' pummels Trump again and hits at JD Vance, Kristi Noem That episode concluded with the town of South Park settling a lawsuit from the president by agreeing to do pro-Trump messaging, leading into a public service announcement that shows Trump walking through a desert and removing his clothes until he is completely naked. White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers fired back at the Season 27 premiere in a statement provided to USA TODAY on July 24. White House: 'South Park' hasn't 'been relevant for over 20 years' after Trump parody "The Left's hypocrisy truly has no end — for years they have come after 'South Park' for what they labeled as 'offense' (sic) content, but suddenly they are praising the show," Rogers said. "Just like the creators of 'South Park,' the Left has no authentic or original content, which is why their popularity continues to hit record lows." The statement continued, "This show hasn't been relevant for over 20 years and is hanging on by a thread with uninspired ideas in a desperate attempt for attention. President Trump has delivered on more promises in just six months than any other president in our country's history — and no fourth-rate show can derail President Trump's hot streak." The Aug. 6 episode, "Got a Nut," appeared to confirm that Trump and his relationship with Satan will be an ongoing storyline throughout Season 27. There's Even More Rumors About the Villains of ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day'

It's going to be a while before we see Blade Runner 2099. Dune Part III will be partially shot on film. Exit 8 is coming stateside. Plus, get a creepy new look at Ben Wheatley's new movie. Spoilers now!As reported by Cosmic Marvel and Comic Book, costume prop modeler Monica Avitto has created a public mood board on Pinterest full of samurai armor for one of the villains appearing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, leading to fevered speculation that a Japanese character like Silver Samurai may play a role in the movie. Or, at the very least, someone is going to wear armor inspired by Japanese historical gear. Monica Avitto, the costume prop modeler for 'SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY', has created a moodboard for the film's villain. — Cosmic Marvel (@cosmic_marvel) August 5, 2025 As reported by World of Reel, Kodak has also announced Dune: Part Three will be the first entry in the franchise to be shot, in part, on film. Dune: Part III is officially (at least for parts) being shot on film, including 15-perf 65mm (IMAX) and 5-perf 65mm, according to Kodak Motion Picture Film's Instagram story. — Shot on Film Updates (@isitshotonfilm) July 11, 2025According to Bloody-Disgusting, The Last Podcast on the Left co-host Henry Zebrowski announced on Instagram he's attached to direct a mysterious new film project titled UFO: Unbelievably Friendly Organisms. Further details on the story are currently available at this time. THR reports NEON has acquired the North American distribution rights to Exit 8, Genki Kawamura's film adaptation of the popular video game that sees players trapped in a seemingly endless Japanese subway station. According to Bloody-Disgusting, The Long Walk has been rated 'R' for 'strong bloody violence, grisly images, suicide, pervasive language, and sexual references.' Rook Films has released a trailer for BULK, Ben Wheatley's new film in which 'an overzealous scientist pushes his experiments with string theory too far,' causing 'his brane to explode. Thats 'brane,' not 'brain'—but that means someone has to sort out the mess he has created. Our hero Corey Harlan is sent in—kicking and screaming—to find the heart of the brane and its creator, Anton Chambers. Now manifested as a normal townhouse hosted by the enigmatic and multi-dimensional Aclima, his adventure begins. A house where opening a door from one room to another can lead you to other worlds, not just the kitchen.' During a recent interview with Screen Rant, producer David Zucker confirmed Blade Runner 2099 likely won't air until 'sometime later next year.' It's ultimately when Amazon wants that show to air. But I mean we are in the full throes of post-production on it. I don't think we will see that come onto screens until probably sometime later next year. According to World of Reel, Robert Elswit (There Will Be Blood) has been hired as the cinematographer on Disney's upcoming Punisher special starring Jon Berthal. Finally, speaking with Variety, Christina Chong admitted her surprise Strange New Worlds suddenly dropped the La'an and Kirk storyline for a new romance with her dance partner, Spock. I was shocked. What, they're putting the La'an and Spock together? Because I, obviously, thought [La'an and Kirk] would continue… But it was perfect, because especially with all the dancing that we do throughout. And you haven't seen it all yet. With all the dancing we do, he's the perfect dance partner, Ethan. Because he's so strong, and I trust him as a castmate. So all of that was incredible to learn new Latin routines, and styles, and ballroom. We did waltz. Ethan Peck echoed her statement in the same interview, adding: And it makes a lot of sense on some level, because they're both sort of the most restrained. And they're hiding a lot of shame and inner turmoil. So on paper, it kind of makes a lot of sense. But it was still such a shock, yeah. Want more io9 news? Vanessa Kirby Wants to Bring Sue Storm's Dark Side to Life in the MCU — GeekTyrant

Vanessa Kirby is ready to let Malice out of the shadows. The Fantastic Four: First Steps star recently opened up on the Happy Sad Confused podcast about what she hopes to explore next with Sue Storm in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. At the top of her wishlist is Malice, Sue's darker alter ego from the comics, and Kirby didn't hold back her excitement when talking about it. She said: 'Definitely Malice. I just love that that's a part of her. It makes me so happy because I try to understand … [the Fantastic Four] all come back from this accident and they all decided to do different things with their powers as a family. And Reed goes heavily into math and scientific and technological advancement. 'I think he feels guilty for what happened and he's trying to improve the world in that way. And Sue creates this future foundation … literally, she goes around to every country leader … and she gets them to disarm and to get rid of all their armies … I thought she must have such a high level of emotional intelligence to be able to do that. And, she's made a choice. 'There was one line at one point, she says to Mole Man, 'If you're not careful, I can give you an aneurysm in a second.' That was a real touchstone because it's true. She can put a force field — and there's a lot of imagery in the comics of her doing it to Doom and her doing it to all these enemies — where she threatens to do it but chooses not to. 'And it's someone who chooses not to, but still could. And so I've always loved Malice because it's a sort of part of her that needs to come out.' Kirby noted that while First Steps introduces a strong and emotionally grounded version of Sue, she deliberately included subtle shades of Malice in her performance. She didn't want Sue to fall into the 'goody, sweet mother' mold. Instead, she emphasized the internal strength and simmering edge that make Sue one of Marvel's most complex heroes. Malice first appeared in 1985's Fantastic Four #280, when Sue became corrupted by Psycho Man's manipulations. While there's no word yet on whether Psycho Man will show up in the MCU, Kirby's comments suggest Marvel is planting seeds that could lead there. In First Steps , Sue and Reed are forced to make an unthinkable choice when Galactus demands they sacrifice their infant son, Franklin. That emotional toll, coupled with a looming multiversal war with Doctor Doom, could be the spark that causes Malice to rise. With Kirby, Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach set to reprise their roles in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars , and a Fantastic Four sequel already in early development, Marvel clearly has long-term plans for the team. That kind of story runway gives them time to let Sue's transformation build gradually, allowing Malice to emerge, if that's the direction Marvel wants to go with her. If Marvel continues to explore themes of identity and trauma as they've done in projects like Moon Knight and Thunderbolts* , Malice could offer a compelling opportunity to dive deep into Sue's psyche. And for Kirby, that's part of the appeal. 'She's made a choice,' Kirby emphasized. 'She can go there. But she doesn't. Until maybe… she does.' Whether Malice makes her way to the screen soon or waits in the wings, it's clear Kirby is ready.
