Former Texas star DeMarvion Overshown teams with Jerry Jones' grandson for Cowboys' No. 0

Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeMarvion Overshown revealed this week how he landed the coveted No. 0 jersey, crediting a key assist from an unexpected source: team owner Jerry Jones' grandson, Paxton Anderson.
Overshown, speaking to reporters at the Cowboys' facility, said he reached out to Anderson to help advocate for his jersey switch. 'I called Paxton and told him I needed his help to push it over the edge,' Overshown said, smiling. 'He made sure the right people heard about it.'

Jones' grandson, Paxton Anderson, joined the Texas Longhorns as a Division I wide receiver in 2020 after a standout high school career at Highland Park and was teammates with DeMarvion Overshown during his time in Austin. Anderson was part of the Longhorns' roster through the 2023 season and graduated in 2024.
The NFL began allowing players to wear No. 0 last season, making it a popular choice among players seeking a fresh start or a unique identity. Overshown, who missed his rookie campaign with a knee injury, said the number represents a new chapter as he returns to the field.
Many Dallas Cowboys fans believed that owner Jerry Jones and the team's marketing department were holding the No. 0 jersey in reserve to avoid confusion with the double-zero '00' worn by mascot Rowdy in promotional materials and appearances. However, as Patrik Walker of dallascowboys.com reports, 'that was never actually true."
While Jones initially referred to No. 0 as 'Rowdy's number' and declined DeMarvion Overshown's request to wear it last season, the real reason for the delay was not to protect the mascot's branding, but rather due to other internal considerations—such as evaluating which player would be the right fit for the never-before used new number. Rowdy continues to wear '00,' a number not available to NFL players, while Overshown has now made history as the first Cowboys player to don No. 0.
Overshown, a third-round pick out of Texas in 2024, is expected to compete for a significant role in the Cowboys' defense this season. He missed his entire rookie year due to a torn ACL. Overhshown previously dawned No. 13, for the Cowboys, coming out making an electric debut in week 1 last season. The former Longhorn tallied up 11 tackles, two QB hits, a tackle for loss and, a sack against the Cleveland Browns.

2028 U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials to return to Indianapolis' Lucas Oil Stadium

The U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials will be held at the Indianapolis Colts' Lucas Oil Stadium for a second consecutive time in June 2028. Then at the 2028 LA Games, swimming will be at SoFi Stadium, marking the first time Olympic swimming will be in an NFL venue. Last year, Lucas Oil Stadium became the first NFL venue to hold an Olympic swimming trials. The 2024 trials broke attendance records with more than 285,000 fans across all sessions. It will be the eighth time Indianapolis hosts the trials overall, extending the city's record for the most times holding the meet. Previous trials in Indianapolis were held at the Indiana University Natatorium, which is the site for this week's U.S. Championships. Indianapolis first hosted the men's trials in 1924, then did so again in 1952 (women), 1984, 1992, 1996 and 2000, when a 15-year-old Michael Phelps made his first Olympic team. Nick Zaccardi,

Steelers fans irked over players' appearance at Trump speech receive letter from org

The Pittsburgh Steelers sent a letter to fans who took issue with players showing up to President Donald Trump's speech at the U.S. Steel plant in Pennsylvania on Friday. Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph, safety Miles Killebrew and former running back Rocky Bleier, who won four Super Bowls in Pittsburgh in the 1970s, took the stage and presented the president with a custom No. 47 jersey. Fans appeared to be upset with their appearance and let the Steelers organization know about it. The team noted in the letter that the views of the players do not necessarily reflect the views of the franchise. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette first reported the letter. "We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with us. As valued fans, your voice is an essential part of what makes our Steelers community and fan base so strong," the letter reportedly read. "We understand that a recent rally in Pittsburgh has generated a range of reactions from our fan base. Our alumni and current players make their own individual decisions that reflect their views, and they do not necessarily represent the view of the entire Pittsburgh Steelers organization. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts. We appreciate your passion and your continued support of the team." A Stelelers spokesperson confirmed the organization responded to those who were upset. Trump introduced each of the three players, praising Rudolph as a potential franchise quarterback for the Steelers. "I happen to think a really good quarterback is a man named Mason Rudolph," Trump said. "I think he's going to get a big shot. He's tall. He's handsome. He's got a great arm. And I have a feeling he's gonna be the guy." Trump also complimented Killebrew, calling the safety a "killer." Former Steelers stars Antonio Brown and Le'Veon Bell each stumped for Trump during his presidential campaign last October. The two appeared at a rally before heading to a Steelers game. Cover Media Kristin Cavallari is opening up about letting go of what no longer serves her. The television personality and Uncommon James founder has revealed she decided to cut ties with her father, Dennis Cavallari, after he "crossed the boundary" with her kids, she told People magazine in a June 2 interview. "This might sound messed up to some people, but it's the best decision I've ever made. Such a weight has been lifted from me," she told the outlet. "There's not one day where I miss him. I don't know if it was two or three years ago, but ... it was 35 years of buildup to that point." Cavallari, 38, has three children with former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler: Camden, 12, Jaxon, 11, and Saylor, 9. She filed for divorce from the former Chicago Bears player in 2020. Kristin Cavallari cut her 'narcissist' dad out of her life. Should you? Choosing to sever the relationship with her father "was something that I had been wanting to do for a long time," she told the magazine, adding that she is "happy" with her choice. Cavallari didn't share further details on the incident that caused the estrangement, simply saying that after the boundary was crossed, her dad "couldn't even apologize." "If someone's not bringing you joy, if people are only bringing you hurt and sadness and anger, what is the point? Even if it's a parent, life's too short." The former "Laguna Beach" star has opened up about disconnecting with her father a number of times, including on her "Let's Be Honest" podcast in 2023, calling her dad a "narcissist" who flipped from making her "feel like I wasn't good enough" to putting her on a "pedestal" when it "benefited him."
