Dortmund agree £31m deal to sign Sunderland's Bellingham
Borussia Dortmund have agreed a deal with Sunderland to sign Jobe Bellingham for an initial 32m euros (£26.96m) plus 5m euros (£4.2m) in add-ons.The 19-year-old midfielder had garnered interest from across Europe but it is Dortmund, former home of elder brother Jude, who are set to secure his signature.Bellingham has played for Sunderland since 2023 and helped them secure Premier League promotion this past season, making 43 appearances for the Black Cats and scoring four goals across all competitions.The England youth international started his career at Birmingham City, coming through the academy before playing two years of senior football for the club.
Borussia Dortmund experienced an inconsistent season in 2024-25 but had a strong finish to the campaign winning their final five matches to finish fourth and secure Champions League football for next season.If the deal is completed by 10 June, Bellingham would be able to play in the upcoming Club World Cup.That tournament takes place in the United States from 14 June to 13 July.Bellingham has been named in the European Under-21 Championship, to be held in Slovakia from 11-28 June, but England boss Lee Carsley has said he will release players so they can compete in the Club World Cup.
Mirroring his brother
It is thought Bellingham is keen to follow in his brother's footsteps.Jude, two years Jobe's senior, also came through Birmingham City's academy before moving to Dortmund in 2020 and then Real Madrid in 2023.Bellingham is already mirroring his brother's career with the move to Dortmund and he was also named the Championship's Young Player of the Year in May, five years after Jude won the same award.

Uriah Rennie tributes after trailblazing Premier League referee dies aged 65
Trailblazing referee Uriah Rennie has passed away at the age of 65 after he was diagnosed with a rare neurological condition. Rennie became the Premier League's first black referee when he took charge of a game between Derby and Wimbledon in 1997 and he went on to officiate more than 300 top-flight games. In a statement, the FA said: "The FA Refereeing Department is saddened to hear of the passing of former FIFA and Premier League referee, Uriah Rennie. Uriah will forever be remembered as a true trailblazer of the game. Our thoughts are with Uriah's family and friends at this time." Earlier this year, Rennie spoke out about having to learn to walk again after he was left paralysed from the waist down while on holiday in Turkey. "I thought I had just slept funny on a sun lounger, I was hoping to go paragliding but because of my backache I couldn't go," Rennie told the BBC. "By the end of the holiday I couldn't sleep a wink from the pain, and by the time I got home I could barely walk. I spent a month laid on my back and another four months sitting in bed. "They kept me in hospital until February, they found a nodule pushing on my spine and it was a rare neurological condition so it's not something they can operate on." Former Liverpoool and Nottingham Forest striker Stan Collymore has described Rennie as a "pioneer, trailblazer and a bloody good ref". He wrote: "Incredibly sad to hear of the passing of referee Uriah Rennie. A pioneer, trailblazer and a bloody good ref. Rest in peace, Ref." The Sheffield FA have also paid tribute to Rennie, a former chair of the organisation, writing: "We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our former Chair and trailblazing referee, Uriah Rennie. "Uriah made history as the Premier League's first Black referee, officiating over 300 top-flight matches between 1997 and 2008. He broke down barriers, shaped our football community and inspired generations to come. Our thoughts are with Uriah's family and friends at this difficult time." In a post on social media, Championship club Sheffield United said: "Sheffield United are saddened to learn of the passing of popular and trailblazing referee Uriah Rennie. Our thoughts are with his friends and family at this time." The FA have announced that former Premier League referee Uriah Rennie has died. Tijjani Reijnders ‘really excited' to link up with Man City for Club World Cup
Tijjani Reijnders 'could not wait' to undergo his medical with Manchester City and expects to be in their squad for the Club World Cup. The 26-year-old Netherlands midfielder has agreed a five-year contract to move to City from AC Milan for 55million euros (approximately £46million) and told Italian media he had spent Sunday conducting a medical with Pep Guardiola's side. City will play their first match of the Club World Cup against Morocco's Wydad AC on June 18 and the arrival of Reijnders could also impact the future of Jack Grealish at City. Reijnders told Gazzetta: 'The medical? I couldn't wait to do it. The plan is to take part at the Club World Cup with City. I'm really excited about that. 'Doing that means I'll get to know my new team-mates soon.' Reijnders was a bright spark in a disappointing season for Milan, who only finished eighth in Serie A, missing out on qualification for Europe. Reijnders, who joined the Italian giants from AZ Alkmaar in the summer of 2023, scored 15 goals in 2024-25 and will bolster Guardiola's midfield options following the departure of Kevin De Bruyne.
