NTPC Green Energy wins 80MW battery storage project in Kerala auction

State-owned NTPC Green Energy on Thursday said it has bagged a battery energy storage project in Kerala in an auction conducted by NHPC.
The 80MW/320MWh battery energy storage project will provide power back-up or supply of 80MW for four hours.
NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL) emerged as the winning bidder in the e-reverse auction conducted by NHPC on May 21, 2025, a regulatory filing said.
The auction was part of NHPC's tender for the selection of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) developers for setting up of 125MW / 500MWh ISTS-connected standalone BESS in Kerala.
NGEL has secured two key projects under the initiative.
Letter of award from NHPC is awaited, it stated.

IndiGrid to acquire solar, transmission assets for ₹2,108 crore
IndiGrid, a power sector infrastructure investment trust (InvIT), announced the execution of definitive agreements to acquire one solar and one transmission asset, aggregating to an Enterprise Value (EV) of about ₹2,108 crore, excluding any net working capital and cash adjustments. Inclusive of the adjustments the EV will not exceed ₹2,175 crore, IndiGrid said in a statement. The solar asset, Renew Solar Aayan Private Ltd (RSAPL), is a 300 MW (AC) operational project located in Barmer, Rajasthan. The transmission asset, Koppal Narendra Transmission Ltd (KNTL), is a Build-Own-Operate-Maintain (BOOM) Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) project located in Karnataka. Subject to regulatory and contractual approvals, IndiGrid will acquire 100% shareholding and management control of both assets, in line with the provisions of the definitive and concession agreements and the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), including lock-in obligations therein. Harsh Shah, Managing Director, IndiGrid, said,' These acquisitions align with our long-term strategy to participate meaningfully in this transformation by owning and operating essential infrastructure that supports grid stability and energy access. 'RSAPL and KNTL are both high-quality operational assets that deepen our presence in key geographies and enhance our portfolio's diversification and are DPU accretive,' he said. 'As the sector continues to evolve, IndiGrid remains focused on building a future-ready platform that supports the nation's energy ambitions while delivering sustained value to our unitholders,' he added. This acquisition will be funded through a combination of equity, internal accruals, and debt. The net debt/AUM will be 62% post this acquisition, leaving adequate headroom for future growth.

KP Group, Delta Electronics India ink 3 strategic initial pacts
Surat-based KP Group on Friday said it has inked three strategic initial pacts with energy and power management solutions provider Delta Electronics India . This collaboration spans three high-impact areas: Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Green Hydrogen and EV Charging Infrastructure and Solar PV Inverters , a statement said. The Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed by Niranjan Nayak, Managing Director of Delta Electronics India, and Faruk Patel, Chairman and Managing Director of KP Group, marking a significant step toward co-developing future-ready energy infrastructure that aligns with India's clean energy ambitions. Delta Electronics India and KP Group already share a long-standing relationship. The newly signed MoUs deepen this collaboration and provide a structured framework to accelerate renewable energy and clean technology deployment at scale, the statement added. The Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) MoU outlines a detailed framework for developing and deploying scalable BESS projects. Live Events In this, KP Group will help in project development, site integration, and regulatory coordination to accelerate the deployment of BESS solutions, whereas Delta will supply key power electronics, including inverters and energy management systems, along with design, integration, and commissioning support, it said. Together, the two companies will deliver energy storage projects in India and potentially overseas markets. As part of the pact focusing on integrated green hydrogen refuelling and EV charging infrastructure, KP Group will lead the development of green hydrogen production plants powered by renewable energy. Delta will contribute critical technology, including energy management systems, hydrogen compression and dispensing components, as well as EV charging hardware and software, and integrated energy management systems. Both parties will jointly design and implement green hydrogen stations and EV charging hubs across India. Under the solar PV inverter agreement, Delta will supply approximately 1 GW of next-generation grid-connected solar inverters over the next 12 months for KP Group's upcoming solar projects across India and selected overseas markets. These are future-ready, supporting both solar-only and hybrid (solar plus storage) configurations.
