Cybersecurity is not just a technical necessity but a fundamental enabler of a resilient and sustainable digital environment and a critical safeguard for the emirate's achievements and long-term competitiveness.'

Palestinian VP denounces campaign to undermine Egypt and Jordan support for Gaza - War on Gaza

Hussein Al-Sheikh, vice president of the State of Palestine and deputy chairman of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), denounced what he described as a coordinated campaign to weaken Egypt and Jordan, despite their consistent support for Palestinians. In a statement on Thursday, Al-Sheikh said the attacks on the two countries were not random, but 'part of deliberate attempts to weaken their positions and undermine any Arab balance.' 'Amid the organized attack targeting Egypt and Jordan, it cannot be ignored that the two countries stand on sensitive lines of contact and bear the burden of regional stability despite the challenges,' he added. Al-Sheikh noted that those attacking Egypt and Jordan today are deliberately ignoring their role in supporting the Palestinian cause and their standing as an impregnable barrier against the displacement of Palestinians. "They also ignore their steadfastness and perseverance on their homeland and their joint political efforts with our brothers and friends to stop the war of extermination and starvation and expand the circle of countries that expressed willingness to recognize the State of Palestine,' he stated. Al-Sheikh concluded by saluting the leadership and people of both countries for their 'firm, unwavering, and supportive positions toward our people's right to freedom and independence.' His remarks come as Israel continues to enforce a five-month blockade on Gaza and restricts the entry of critical aid, thus plunging 2.3 million Palestinians in the strip into famine. Facing a regional and global outrage, Israel allowed limited airdrops and aid trucks through tightly controlled crossings. In recent days, Egypt has rerouted aid to the Karm Abu Salem crossing, but Israel's intransigence has led to prolonged delays and denied entry to many convoys. Egypt and Jordan have dispatched aid convoys and airdropped aid to Gaza. Jordan has also suspended high-level contacts with Israel over its insistence on forging ahead with its war on the Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. Cairo and Amman have repeatedly affirmed their rejection of any Israeli attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians to Egypt or Jordan. Tens of UN agencies and humanitarian organizations have called on Israel to lift the blockade and allow unrestricted humanitarian access to a population deliberately starved into famine. Top Palestinian official meets US ambassador to Israel in Ramallah - Region

Hussein al-Sheikh, vice-president of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), on Tuesday said he met the US ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, in the occupied West Bank. Sheikh, a close aide to Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas, said the meeting took place in his office. The meeting was Huckabee's first official visit to Ramallah, which is home to key Palestinian Authority institutions. "Discussions were held regarding support for efforts to stop the war in the Gaza Strip, release the hostages and deliver urgent aid to the Palestinian people there," he wrote on X. "The current situation in the West Bank was also discussed, including the severe economic and financial crisis and settler violence. "Ways to strengthen bilateral relations were explored, as well as the importance of the American role in achieving stability, security, and peace in the region." The… — حسين الشيخ Hussein Al Sheikh (@HusseinSheikhpl) July 22, 2025 Sheikh, a veteran of Abbas's Fatah party, was appointed as vice-president of the PLO leadership in April, a newly created position. Founded in 1964, the PLO is empowered to negotiate and sign international treaties on behalf of the Palestinian people, while the Palestinian Authority is responsible for governance in parts of the Palestinian territories. Relations between the United States and the Palestinian Authority were strained during Donald Trump's first term as president, during which he moved the US embassy to Jerusalem and recognised it as Israel's capital, in a break with international consensus. Last Saturday, Huckabee visited Taybeh, a Christian village in the occupied West Bank, where he called for justice after an attack on a church blamed by locals on Israeli settlers. The ambassador is a leading figure on the conservative Christian right in the United States and is close to pro-settlement groups. Nevertheless, Huckabee urged Israel to "aggressively investigate the murder of Saif Mussallet", a Palestinian-American beaten to death by Israeli settlers, calling it "a criminal and terrorist act". DGHR organises ‘Community Change Lab' to advance ‘Year of Community' objectives

Aligning with the declaration of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, designating 2025 as the 'Year of Community', the Dubai Government Human Resources Department (DGHR), represented by the Strategy and Excellence Department, organised the 'Community Change Lab' initiative. The innovative venture explored proposed mechanisms and solutions to prepare qualified human capital and encourage their participation in both social and institutional ventures, upholding the objectives of the 'Year of Community', aimed at promoting social unity and sustainable development. The lab convened officials from the Community Development Authority, Dubai Women Establishment, and Dubai Sports Council, along with representatives from the private sector and leading experts from various fields. It also facilitated discussions on key themes and showcased high-impact ideas, which can enhance the community's role in fostering integration across diverse social groups. H.E. Abdullah Ali bin Zayed Al Falasi, Director General of the Dubai Government Human Resources Department, commended the productive collaboration among relevant government entities for this venture, which aligns with the objectives of the 'Year of Community' as well as DGHR's vision to establish a cohesive institutional framework that promotes harmony and integration within the government system, ultimately benefiting individuals, institutions, and society. H.E. said: 'The 'Year of Community' represents a national call to strengthen social solidarity and cohesion, while expanding community participation in building a prosperous future. We believe that national talents are key drivers of institutional social change and sustainable development. In line with this vision, we have organised the 'Community Change Lab' initiative to develop innovative, actionable solutions based on community-centric innovation. It can also enhance the resilience of our government institutions, creating an environment that empowers individuals to actively engage and contribute to change, supporting Dubai's forward-looking humanitarian and social agenda. This is why we emphasize the importance of the 'Innovation Club' launched by the department as an open platform for all those involved in innovation and development within government institutions. It plays a vital role in empowering their efforts and ambitions to drive positive change and foster a culture of community-driven innovation, ultimately contributing to sustainable development.' The lab focused on four core themes to help forge a more resilient future that embraces positive transformation, welcomes all segments of society, and affirms the role of individuals in advancing sustainable social development, upholding DGHR's visionary goals. These include the Policies and Systems pillar, aimed at developing inclusive policies and legislation, empowering all segments of society, specifically employees, people of determination, women, retirees, and job seekers, while ensuring the sustainability of social impact; the Empowerment and Capacity Building pillar for designing training programs, which can enhance the skills of target groups, enabling their effective participation in community initiatives and supporting institutional integration. In addition, the Digital Empowerment and Artificial Intelligence pillar explored the role of digital solutions and AI technologies in delivering innovative services that promote inclusion and stimulate engagement. Meanwhile, the Social Participation and Partnerships pillar focused on boosting cooperation between the public and private sectors, as well as the broader community, to launch innovative ventures which can strengthen social integration, empower women, and support people of determination and retirees through sustainable partnerships. The Community Change Lab served as a unique platform to transform strategic visions into tangible initiatives, aligning with DGHR's innovative approach, which prioritises human capital investment as a means to drive sustainable development. Moreover, the entity's ongoing efforts contribute to empowering all segments of society, including women, people of determination, retirees, and job seekers, while fostering active engagement and strengthening social cohesion.
