First-half goal burst earns Duhallow Divisions/Colleges SFC honours
Duhallow struck three goals before half-time and never once loosened their grip on a final that offered Muskerry little comfort and fewer chances.
Their 4-9 to 0-13 win in Ballydesmond on Tuesday evening delivered a Divisions/Colleges SFC title, and a path to the Cork PSFC quarter-final.
By the time Luke Murphy had clipped over his third point inside six minutes, and Donncha O'Connor added a 45 soon after, Duhallow were well in the groove. Two more from Murphy pushed the gap out to 0-6 to 0-1 by the quarter-hour.
Muskerry responded through a Liam O'Connor free and another from Chris Óg Jones, but Duhallow had found their rhythm — and soon found the net.
The first goal came after 23 minutes, Darragh Cashman bursting through from wing-back and drilling low to the net. The Cork senior finished with 1-1.
Muskerry pulled one back but were immediately hit again — this time a flowing team move involving Hickey, O'Connor and Conor O'Callaghan finished off by Gerry O'Sullivan.
Muskerry's second point from play arrived close to half-time, but they were rocked again before the break when Jack Curtin smashed home a third Duhallow goal.
The first score after the restart came on 42 minutes, as Chris Óg Jones was set up by Ian Jones, but Duhallow responded instantly via Donncha O'Connor.
Even after Seamus Hickey was shown a black card, Muskerry couldn't capitalise, managing just one point while Duhallow, again, found an answer.
Darragh O'Leary did produce a superb two-pointer late on, and Liam O'Connor added another from a tight angle in the 64th minute – but any hope of a comeback was dashed almost immediately.
From the resulting restart, Hickey led a rapid counter and teed up Murphy, who finished with power to bag Duhallow's fourth goal and seal a commanding win.

Ireland end scoring drought but suffer Women's EuroHockey Championship defeat to Scotland
A 3-2 defeat saw the lower-ranked Scots record their first EuroHockey victory over Ireland since 2013, scoring three times in the last 11 minutes for good measure. The riveting finale followed an uneventful three quarters, with Lizzie Murphy making two noteworthy penalty corner saves. Roisín Upton finally opened Ireland's campaign in the 35th minute. It came via a penalty stroke after Katie Mullan was fouled in the circle. Upton was off the pitch when Ireland missed from the spot at a crucial moment in the Germany defeat midweek - although rules dictate that she could have come on - but here she flicked clinically to hand her side the lead. Charlotte Watson equalised courtesy of the same route in the fourth quarter, before Mullan restored parity with a powerful shot nine minutes from time. Moments later and Amy Costello's corner dragflick proved too good for Murphy as Scotland levelled again. Ireland's hopes for another fifth-place finish then evaporated six minutes from time. A crash ball into the D was seemingly left alone by the Irish defence, only for the ball to clatter off the post and Heather McEwan gleefully tapped home. It was an inglorious ending, especially for the hapless Murphy in goal, Ireland's standout player this week. Gareth Grundie's side will now face England in their final classification match on Sunday morning. England, who have finished outside the medals for the fourth edition running, will be looking for their fifth EuroHockey win in succession over the Green Army. Ireland have dropped two places to world No.13 following their pool exit. One respite is that they have earned a place at a 2026 World Cup qualifier tournament.

Scotland defeat Ireland at EuroHockey Championships
Ireland 2-3 Scotland Ireland suffered their third loss in four outings at the EuroHockey Championships in Germany, as Scotland inflicted a 3-2 defeat on Gareth Grundie's charges. Despite being ranked two place below Ireland in the world rankings at 15, Scotland dominated the early exchanges in this classification encounter, winning the first penalty corner of the game. Sarah Torrans ran down the first effort, before the second was driven wide of the post. Elizabeth Murphy was forced into a save early on as Ireland struggled to retain possession against Scotland's high press. Scotland had two late efforts on goal to break the deadlock before the end of quarter, but both failed to find the back of the net. Chances were few and far between in the second quarter, with Murphy forced into action in a goalmouth scramble. Scotland requested a video referral for a foul, which saw them win a penalty corner with 12 seconds remaining in the half, but Ireland defended well as the game remained scoreless. Ireland took the lead in the third quarter when Katie Mullan, who was free in the circle, drew a foul as she shot at goal. However, Scotland pressure mounted in the final quarter, with Ireland forced to defend a player down due to an early green card for Emily Kealy. Ireland conceded a penalty stroke for a coming together in the circle, which Scotland converted via Charlotte Watson to level matters with 11 minutes remaining. Moments after Scotland equalise, Katie Mullan restores Ireland's lead with a clinical finish from a well-worked move 📺 — RTÉ Sport (@RTEsport) August 15, 2025 Ireland restored their lead less than two minutes later, with Mullan once again at the centre of things, as she clinically fired into the bottom corner. With eight minutes remaining, Scotland won a penalty corner, and Amy Costello found the net to make it 2-2 Scotland went ahead for the first time after the ball cannoned off the post from a speculative shot from distance, rebounding off Murphy and fall for Heather McEwan to tap home. Murphy was substituted with five minutes remaining in favour of an extra outfield player, but Scotland held firm to secure the win. Ireland will face England in their final match in Monchengladbach on Sunday at 8.30am Irish time, with live coverage on the RTÉ News channel and RTÉ Player.
