KKR takes action against staff charged under Penal Code
The case, involving an administrative assistant accused of outraging a female student's modesty, was brought before a Magistrate's Court here on July 25.
In a statement issued today, KKR stated that its Disciplinary Board will convene to ensure the legal process proceeds without interference.
The ministry emphasised adherence to the Public Officers (Conduct and Discipline) Regulations 1993.
'KKR will not compromise on any misconduct that could tarnish the image of the public service and the ministry. Internally, we continue to implement awareness, education and intervention programmes as preventive measures,' the ministry said.
The accused, who pleaded not guilty, faces charges under Section 509 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of five years' imprisonment, a fine, or both.
KKR has refrained from further comment, citing respect for the ongoing court proceedings and the rights of all involved parties. – Bernama

"My granddaughter, the boy's mother, and my daughter, Tishant's grandmother, are both unwell. "Tishant's mother loved him dearly and often took pictures of him. "We can't imagine how she will cope with this. We can only pray for strength, though we too are struggling to face this." It was reported that the boy's body was found buried in an area in Rompin, Jempol, around 4.30pm yesterday, five days after he was reported missing. Police said the discovery was made following the arrest of the boy's 36-year-old father, who was detained on the same day he lodged a missing person report on July 24. The suspect has been remanded for seven days from July 25 to assist in the investigation. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, with the post-mortem confirming that the boy had been strangled with a cable tie.

Police arrest 81 illegal immigrants in palm oil theft crackdown
TELUK INTAN: A total of 81 illegal immigrants were detained by police in Operation Helang Hilir Phase 2, conducted early this morning, on suspicion of being involved in stealing oil palm fruits in the district. Hilir Perak district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Dr Bakri Zainal Abidin, said all those arrested were Indonesian men aged between 20 and 56, caught during raids on 19 premises, including plantations and workers' quarters at oil palm estates. He said the raids on premises in Langkap, Labu Kubong, Chui Chak, and Teluk Intan began at 1am today, based on information and intelligence gathered by the police. "This operation is a continuation of integrated actions aimed at curbing economic losses due to agricultural product theft in this district. "It is intended to combat the increasingly rampant theft of oil palm fruits involving foreign nationals," he said in a statement today. He added that 56 of the illegal immigrants had no valid identification documents, while the remaining 25 held permits or visitor passes that had already expired. The case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft which carries which carries a penalty of up to seven years' imprisonment, a fine, or both, upon conviction.

Man held after hour-long high-speed chase in Kuching
KUALA LUMPUR: A 31-year-old man was arrested after a nearly hour-long high-speed chase from Kota Samarahan to Lorong 6 in Stampin Tengah, Kuching, early this morning. Kota Samarahan police chief Superintendent Damataries Lautin said the incident occurred about 2.50am, when a team from the Kota Samarahan police station and the Mobile Patrol Vehicle unit were conducting crime prevention patrols behind Roxy Hotel Aiman in Kuching. "Our team spotted a Perodua Axia that was suspicious. When we tried to inspect the vehicle, the driver sped off and refused to cooperate despite repeated instructions through the loudspeaker to stop," he was reported as saying in a statement today. The suspect's vehicle was seen heading for Kampung Sindang before turning back to the Aiman Mall area and later moving towards the Kuching police headquarters' administrative area. In his attempt to flee, the suspect rammed into a police pickup truck, damaging its rear door. Police then sought help from the Kuching police headquarters' MPV unit, the urban patroluUnit and Sentral 10 to block the escape route. "The suspect stopped his vehicle in Lorong 6 in Stampin Tengah and tried to flee into nearby bushes, but was apprehended." A body search found no prohibited items, and checks revealed the vehicle was not reported stolen. Police seized the car as evidence. Damataries said the suspect had several prior records for burglary and drug-related offences in Simunjan. "The suspect was taken to the Kota Samarahan police station for further investigation under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant from carrying out his duty. "During the arrest, the suspect acted aggressively, forcing our personnel to use minimal force. No injuries were reported." Police have urged the public not to speculate on the case and allow investigations to proceed fairly and transparently.
