with security personnel in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district on Saturday.
Three Naxalites were killed in an encounter with security forces in Jharkhand's Gumla district earlier in the day.
According to officials, intelligence inputs had indicated the presence of members of the Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad (JJMP), a breakaway faction of the CPI (Maoist), at Lawadag in the Ghaghra police station limits.
Acting on the input, a joint operation was launched by the Jharkhand Jaguar force and Gumla Police.
Police said an exchange of fire took place between the security forces and the Naxalites, with several rounds discharged from both sides.
Following the gunfight, an AK-47 rifle and two INSAS rifles were recovered from the scene.
"One of the deceased was identified as Dilip Lohra, 32, a resident of Belagada in Ghaghra. The identification of the other two deceased is still underway," Gumla Superintendent of Police Haris Bin Zaman said news agency PTI.
The SP said that the JJMP members had been hiding in a house near Lawadag Choraltwa village for the last two to three days.
"As the police reached the spot, they opened fire and attempted to flee. In the exchange of fire that followed, the three JJMP members were killed, while two managed to escape," he added.

IED Blast Kills Railway Personnel In Odisha-Jharkhand border, Maoists Role Suspected
A railway personnel was killed in an IED blast on a railway track near Odisha-Jharkhand border in Sundergarh district on Sunday, police said. The deceased was identified as Itua Oram, working as a 'key man' in the Indian railways, the police said. Police suspected involvement of Maoists in the blast as Maoist posters were found near the blast site in Sundargarh district. The blast took place on the railway tracks connecting Karampada and Renjda under the Bimlagarh section. The track got minor damage. However, movement of any passenger train was not affected as it is a loop line, said a spokesperson of the South Eastern Railway. The Maoists had given a call to observe a martyrs' week or 'Shahid Saptah' from July 28 to August 3. The blast site is under Saranda forest range, according to a local police officer. "After getting clearance from the local police, we will carry out the maintenance work," he said. Meanwhile, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed grief over the demise of the railway personnel in the blast and announced Rs 10 lakh ex-gratia to his family. The financial assistance would be provided from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund (CMRF), the chief minister's office (CMO) said in a post on X.
