Samsung Unveils Galaxy Z Fold7, Z Flip7 and Watch8 Series at Unpacked 2025
Samsungofficially unveiled its latest foldable smartphones – the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 – alongside the new Galaxy Watch8 Series atGalaxy Unpacked 2025. These releases mark a significant advancement in Samsung's foldable technology, combining ultra-thin, lightweight designs with powerful Galaxy AI features.
Designed for users seeking both portability and productivity, the Galaxy Z Fold7 measures just 8.9mm when folded and 4.2mm when unfolded. Weighing only 215 grams, it features an expansive 8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display with Vision Booster for vivid contrast and clarity. The 6.5-inch cover display offers a wider 21:9 aspect ratio, ideal for multitasking and content editing. Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, the Fold7 also introduces Samsung's 200MP wide-angle camera to the foldable lineup, supported by the ProVisual Engine, Night Video and 10-bit HDR for professional-grade photography and video.
The Galaxy Z Flip7 offers a compact alternative with premium features in a sleek form factor. At just 188 grams and 13.7mm thick when folded, it's the slimmest Flip model to date. Meanwhile, its 4.1-inch Super AMOLED FlexWindow – the largest ever on a Galaxy Z Flip phone – enables full app functionality without unfolding the device. The 6.9-inch main display supports 2,600 nits peak brightness and a 120Hz refresh rate. Enhanced durability comes via the Armor FlexHinge, Gorilla® Glass Victus® 2 and Armor Aluminum Frame. The upgraded 4,300mAh battery and AI-powered features like Real-Time Filters and Dual Preview elevate the user experience, while the dual-camera system delivers sharp, vibrant imagery.
Rounding out the launch is the Galaxy Watch8 Series, which includes the Galaxy Watch8, Watch8 Classic and the upgraded Galaxy Watch Ultra. Featuring a reengineered internal structure and Dynamic Lug system for improved comfort and accuracy, the watches are powered by a 3nm processor and run on Wear OS 6 with One UI 8 Watch. The BioActive sensor introduces new metrics like Bedtime Guidance and Antioxidant Index, while the Galaxy Watch Ultra now offers 64GB of internal memory and a new Titanium Blue finish.

Samsung Might Tap Perplexity And Other AI Assistants For Galaxy S26
Due to its close relationship with Google, Samsung has been pushing Gemini as its go-to AI assistant on the company's various mobile devices. However, a recent interview between Bloomberg and Samsung Electronics executive Choi Won-joon suggests that the Galaxy S26 might launch with support for not just Gemini, but a slew of other possible AI assistants, including Perplexity. While it doesn't sound like any official decisions have been made yet, Choi said that Samsung was "talking to multiple vendors" in regard to the AI chatbots that it will employ on its next flagship phone. This has led many to believe that future Samsung devices like the S26 could come with ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and perhaps even other AI agents pre-installed. This would make using them as your go-to digital assistant much easier overall, and that's a win for Samsung and its customers, if you ask me. Exactly what level of access those chatbots would have to the device and your data is unclear at the moment, but it's also unclear if this will happen at all. Google And Samsung Have A Strong Relationship Many of the questions surrounding these potential partnerships come from the relationship that Google and Samsung have had. Samsung has acted as the de facto face of Gemini in recent years, with the company selling some of the first devices to offer new Google AI features, like Circle to Search. While Google still holds onto some features for the Pixel lineup -- that new Pixel 10 lineup is looking pretty sweet so far -- Samsung has by far the most Gemini features beyond Google's own branded devices. As such, it will be interesting to see how well that relationship holds up if Samsung is actually looking at bringing other AI assistants into the mix, as we know Google paid Samsung a great deal of money to put Gemini on the S25. Gemini isn't everyone's AI assistant of choice, so it would be an improvement to be able to key into Perplexity, ChatGPT, or any other chat option more easily.
