Soccer-Brentford sign Dutch midfielder Milambo from Feyenoord
(Reuters) -Brentford have signed Feyenoord midfielder Antoni Milambo on a five-year deal with an option to extend for another year, the Premier League club said on Thursday.
Milambo, 20, spent more than a decade at Feyenoord. He made his senior debut in 2021 when he was 16, becoming the youngest to play for the Eredivisie side. The Dutchman scored eight goals in 60 first team appearances for Feyenoord in all competitions.
"Antoni has played a lot of football in the last 12 months and really shot to prominence," Brentford manager Keith Andrews said in a statement.
"Now it's just a case of getting him used to the intensity and rhythm of the Premier League and our own intensity levels."
Brentford, who finished 10th last season, kick off their 2025-26 league campaign at Nottingham Forest on August 17.

(EPA Images pic) MADRID : Liverpool's Portuguese forward Diogo Jota, 28, died in a fiery car crash near Zamora in northwestern Spain with his brother, Spanish state-owned TV station said today, citing local firefighters. Police told Reuters everything pointed to that information being correct, although they could not yet officially confirm the names. The regional fire department of Castille-Leon, where Zamora is located, said on its website a car crashed shortly after midnight today and burst into flames, with two men, aged 28 and 26, found dead. Jota, who got married on June 28, helped Liverpool win the Premier League last season and also won the FA Cup and League Cup with the Merseyside outfit. Jota arrived at Anfield from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2020 and scored 65 goals in 182 appearances for the club in all competitions. He also made 49 appearances for Portugal, twice winning the Uefa Nations League.

Blowout suspected in crash that claimed lives of Diogo Jota and brother
CERNADILLA, Spain: Liverpool forward Diogo Jota and his brother, Andre Silva, were killed in a single-car accident near Zamora, Spain, police said Thursday. Jota, a Portuguese international, was 28. Silva was 26. Multiple reports said the siblings were found dead after their Lamborghini went off the road on an isolated stretch of highway. Police said the car was in flames upon arrival. A Spanish Civil Guard spokesperson said it is believed that the driver lost control after a tyre blew out, per ESPN. It was not immediately clear who was driving the car. Jota helped Liverpool capture the Premier League championship last season. He also helped Portugal win the UEFA Nations League last month. "We have lost two champions. Their deaths represent irreparable losses for Portuguese football, and we will do everything we can to honour their legacy every day," the Portuguese Football Federation said in a statement. Jota recorded 65 goals and 26 assists in 182 appearances for Liverpool since arriving from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2020. He married his wife, Rute Cardoso, last month. They have three children. Cristiano Ronaldo, Jota's teammate with Portugal, sent his condolences to the brothers' family. "It doesn't make sense.
