's remarks that Himachal Pradesh could become "Udta Himachal" like "Udta Punjab" within the next five years if the state govt failed to act swiftly on drug cases.
Sukhu said it did not behove a constitutional office-holder to make such remarks.
The governor had on July 24 stated that despite repeated appeals, the state govt was not taking adequate action, noting there was only one Red Cross rehabilitation centre in Kullu across the entire state.
Shukla added that with the sharp increase in drug cases, the state govt should open more rehabilitation centres. However, the only response had been that the state govt was identifying land in Sirmaur district to establish a drug de-addiction and rehabilitation centre.
"The governor is holding a constitutional and dignified office and we respect him. But making such statements does not behove of him. We should all respect the people of Himachal Pradesh," the CM said while speaking to the mediapersons on Monday.
Sukhu said he would apprise the governor about various steps taken to eradicate the drug menace and how various non-governmental organisations were working on the serious issue.

He further said it was for the first time that a state-level drug de-addiction and rehabilitation centre was being opened at Kotla Barog in the Pachhad sub-division of Sirmaur district.
The CM said no previous govts had done what the incumbent Congress govt did against the drugs menace. Within three months after the formation of the Congress govt, provisions of the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act were invoked for the first time in the state, Sukhu highlighted.
Illegally acquired properties of drug-traffickers worth Rs 43 crore were seized and directions have already been issued for the mapping of all 3,575 panchayats across the hill state, he added.
A head constable or a constable will be specially deployed for every five or six panchayats to check drug abuse, and this exercise will gather data about a drug-addicted patient and the source of narcotics, the CM informed.

Congress trying to defame Centre over BC reservation issue: Kishan Reddy
BJP senior leader and Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy has reiterated that the Congress government's attempt to provide 42% reservation to the Backward Classes (BCs) in local bodies would not at all benefit the BCs, as they would only get 32% reservation since the proposed BC reservations include 10% Muslim quota. He accused the Congress government of resorting to appeasement politics for political gains. Addressing a protest organised by the BJP OBC Morcha at Dharna Chowk on Saturday, Mr. Reddy said the reservations would indeed be around 32% for the BCs, as 34% reservations in local bodies were already in implementation before the BRS regime in the State. 'The Congress government has not completed the process to implement 42% reservations for the BCs. Instead, it's trying to defame the BJP and the Centre,' he said. Former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao also reduced the reservations to 23% from 34% in the local bodies for BCs. Now, Mr. Revanth Reddy is also trying to reduce the reservations, he alleged. 'The people of Telangana are observing Revanth Reddy's anti-BC actions. Despite being in power in the State and at the Centre for many years, the Congress has not conducted a caste census. To do justice to the BCs, the Centre, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will conduct a caste census along with the population census. If the Revanth Reddy government is really sincere about the welfare of BCs, I demand that it offer 42% reservation to the BCs as announced,' he added. BJP State president N. Ramchander Rao also slammed the Congress for its attempts to stage a protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on August 6 over the issue of BC Bills.
