The FDA, in its suspension order on Wednesday evening, stated the contractor (Ajanta Caterers) had violated provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and the Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Regulations, 2011.
The violations were found during an inspection conducted at the Akashwani MLA hostel earlier on Wednesday, said the regulator.

The action comes after ruling Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad slapped and punched an employee at the MLAs' hostel canteen for serving "stale food".

Deputy Chief Minister and Shiv Sena president Eknath Shinde said if something wrong is happening, there could be legal action, but beating up people is inappropriate.

Kolhapur: On Sunday afternoon, black ink was poured on the head and face of a Maratha leader in Solapur's Akkalkot town. Solapur police detained two men, and the registration of the case continued until the evening. Pravin Gaikwad, a Pune-based Maratha leader associated with the Sambhaji Brigade, was attacked by several men led by Dipak Kate, BJP Yuva Morcha's state secretary and leader of the Shivdharma Foundation. Kate was among those detained by the Solapur police. According to Gaikwad, Kate demanded the addition of "Chhatrapati" to the "Sambhaji Brigade" name, as failing to mention the title was seen as disrespecting Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. At 12.30 pm, after Gaikwad stepped out of his vehicle and was walking towards the venue where he was scheduled to be felicitated by Sakal Maratha Samaj and Fattesinha Shikshan Sanstha, a video that went viral showed Kate and others approaching with ink bottles and pouring them on his head and face. The outfit and we previously discussed changing the name of the Sambhaji Brigade; however, the name with Chhatrapati before Sambhaji Brigade is always registered by someone else, and changing the name of our outfit will require technical adjustments. The man who attacked is associated with the party in power at both the state and centre. An attack on me is an attack on the Maratha community. It is the failure of state home minister Devendra Fadnavis, who is also the CM of Maharashtra," Gaikwad told reporters at Akkalkot. The attack has irked opposition politicians too. Congress state president Harshwardhan Sapkal said action should be taken against the attackers under the newly passed Public Safety Act. "If action is not taken, then the law and order situation may deteriorate," Sapkal said on his X account. NCP (SP) MPs Amol Kolhe and Supriya Sule, and MLAs Rohit Pawar and Jitendra Awhad also condemned the attack. A case was registered with Akkalkot north police station. Kate is among the two arrested by the police. A total of seven people were booked under BNS sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 189(2) (unlawful assembly), 191(2) (rioting), 190 (unlawful assembly), and 324(4) (mischief).

Mumbai: Maratha outfit Sambhaji Brigade's state president, Pravin Gaikwad, was attacked with black ink during an event organised by the Fattesingh Education Institute and Sakal Maratha Samaj in Akkalkot, Solapur. Mr Gaikwad, who was the chief guest at the event, was walking towards the venue with supporters amid firecrackers and a band procession when a man approached, held his arm, and poured ink on him. Two more individuals followed, with one smearing ink on his face. As Mr Gaikwad attempted to leave, the group allegedly chased his vehicle, assaulted one of his associates, and damaged the car. The attackers reportedly demanded a change in the name of his organisation and chanted slogans like "Jai Bhavani, Jai Shivaji." Who Is Behind the Attack? The ink attack has been claimed by the Shivdharma Foundation, and the group's Indapur president, Deepak Kate, is believed to have led the group. The organisation has long opposed the name "Sambhaji Brigade," claiming it informal reference to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. They have demanded that the name be changed to "Dharmaveer Sambhaji Maharaj Brigade." He later underwent an eye check-up. Gaikwad Alleges Conspiracy, Holds Government Responsible Mr Gaikwad later said the attack was an attempt on his life. He questioned the lack of police presence and held the Chief Minister and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis responsible for the security lapse. Drawing parallels with the murders of rationalists Dr. Dabholkar, Govind Pansare, M. M. Kalburgi, and Gauri Lankesh, he said such incidents are part of a larger ideological threat targeting progressive voices. He reiterated that the Sambhaji Brigade would continue its work and described the attack as one on the ideology of social reform. Opposition Reactions NCP (Sharad Pawar) MP Amol Kolhe condemned the attack, stating that Gaikwad has long worked to spread progressive ideas among Bahujan youth. The way he was pulled out of the car shows the intention was to kill. This is not just an act by one group but a conspiracy involving those Gaikwad opposes," he said. Rohit Pawar, a Member of Parliament from the NCP Sharad Pawar faction, said, "The ink attack on Pravin Dada Gaikwad, who has empowered many industrialists from the Bahujan community and championed the Shiv-Phule-Shahu-Ambedkar ideology, must be investigated thoroughly." He questioned if the act was motivated by Mr Gaikwad exposing certain groups and asked the police to identify the mastermind.
