During the meeting, the Council approved the launch of the "Our Balanced Summer" initiative, a forward-looking programme that reflects the government's commitment to employee well-being and quality of life during the summer months, in alignment with the Year of Community. The initiative introduces a 100% remote work system every Friday, effective from July 1 to Aug.22, 2025, alongside a reduction in working hours from Monday to Thursday, set from 7:30 am to 2:30 pm, instead of the usual 8-hour day. These measures aim to foster work-life balance while ensuring the seamless delivery of essential government services through flexible internal structures across government entities. The initiative is designed to promote institutional efficiency, adapt to the summer climate, and maintain high-quality public service delivery through optimized organizational workflows. Sheikh Ammar affirmed that the Ajman Government, under the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, places great importance on cultivating a dynamic and supportive work environment that meets the professional and personal needs of employees. He noted that the stability of employees and their families is a cornerstone of the emirate's development journey, emphasizing that human well-being is a central priority, essential for institutional excellence and the advancement of government performance. Sheikh Ammar added, 'The 'Our Balanced Summer' initiative also reflects our commitment to environmental sustainability by reducing daily transportation emissions, in support of Ajman Vision 2030, which aspires to build a balanced, resilient, and sustainable society.' The Human Resources Department, in coordination with the General Secretariat of the Executive Council, will oversee the initiative's rollout, develop relevant operational models, and present an assessment report by the end of September 2025 to evaluate its impact on institutional performance and employee and community satisfaction. This initiative embodies Ajman Government's ongoing efforts to foster a flexible, inclusive, and motivating work culture that enhances productivity and promotes happiness across the public sector. The Council, in the presence of Sheikh Ahmed Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Ruler's Representative for Administrative and Financial Affairs and Vice Chairman of the Executive Council; Sheikh Abdulaziz Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Tourism Development Department; Sheikh Rashid Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Municipality and Planning Department; and other Council members, reviewed the outcomes of the recent official visit to Chongqing Municipality in China, led by Sheikh Ammar. The Council recommended continued engagement with Chinese counterparts by convening coordination meetings at least once every quarter throughout 2025, in addition to activating academic exchange programs. Further recommendations emphasised attracting Chinese investments to Ajman, particularly in high-impact sectors such as technology and artificial intelligence, light manufacturing and clean technologies, logistics and supply chains, smart devices, medical equipment, and vocational education and training. The Council also proposed extending an official invitation to a Chinese delegation to visit Ajman, as part of a curated hosting program showcasing the emirate's urban planning, regulatory excellence, cultural richness, and economic potential. The program will also spotlight unique investment opportunities aligned with Ajman Vision 2030, complemented by tailored incentives and facilitation packages for prospective Chinese investors. The Executive Council approved the launch of the "Ajman Learns" project, an ambitious initiative under Ajman Vision 2030, designed to reinforce the emirate's commitment to lifelong learning. The project aims to establish robust governance and evaluation frameworks to monitor progress in positioning Ajman as a hub of knowledge, innovation, inclusiveness, and sustainable growth. Sheikh Ammar emphasised that investing in people through lifelong learning is essential to realising the emirate's future vision. He further reaffirmed the directives of Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid to prioritise human capital development and build an educational system that underpins sustainable social and economic advancement. The Council also directed the development of a new accreditation programme for technical and vocational training centers and institutes to ensure the quality and relevance of their outcomes in line with labor market needs. Arab states erupt in condemnation after US strikes on Iran
Arab countries on Sunday strongly condemned the US air strikes on nuclear facilities in Iran, warning of serious repercussions and calling for a return to diplomacy. The United Arab Emirates expressed concern after the attack, calling for "an immediate end to the escalation." Saudi Arabia expressed "great concern" over the attacks. Gulf countries have been engaged in a diplomatic frenzy for solutions since Israel launched its air campaign on their neighbour Iran on June 13. Qatar, host of the biggest US military base in the Middle East, said it feared "catastrophic consequences" for the region and the entire world. Yemen's Houthi rebels repeated threats to target US vessels and warships in the Red Sea after the overnight strikes, describing them as a "war declaration" on the Iranian people. On Saturday, the Iran-backed group threatened to resume attacks on US vessels and warships in the Red Sea despite a recent Oman-mediated truce, should Washington strike Iran. US President Donald Trump said the attacks destroyed Iran's main nuclear sites, describing them as a "spectacular military success." But his allies in the Gulf, who neighbour Iran, were urging a return to diplomacy. Oman, which was mediating nuclear talks between Washington and Tehran, strongly condemned the US strikes labelling them illegal and calling for immediate deescalation. Bahrain, home to a major US naval base, told most of its government employees to work from home until further notice following the escalation. The US Navy's Fifth Fleet, which covers the region, is based in Bahrain. Kuwait said its finance ministry had activated an emergency plan that includes readying shelters. The Palestinian group Hamas condemned what it called "blatant US aggression" against Iran. Iraq, which also hosts US bases, expressed "deep concern and strong condemnation" of the attacks, government spokesperson Basim Alawadi said, labelling them "a grave threat to peace and security in the Middle East." Fears are growing in Iraq over a possible intervention by Iran-backed armed factions, who have threatened Washington's interests in the region if it were to join Israel in its war against Iran. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, largely seen as close to the United States, urged both sides to resume talks to restore stability in the region. The country has been reeling from a destructive conflict between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah group over the Gaza war, which ended with a fragile truce last November despite frequent Israeli attacks on the group. Egypt also condemned the escalation in Iran, warning of "dangerous repercussions" for the region and calling for diplomacy. Agence France-Presse
