According to a senior official stationed in Kashmir, the latest input indicates that terrorists may target Kashmiri Pandits, migrant labourers, or even security forces personnel.
After the Pahalgam terrorist attack last week, intelligence agencies have issued another input claiming that The Resistance Front (TRF) is planning a fresh attack. Security in various areas has been beefed up, and locations with high footfall are under surveillance. Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) have been deployed in vulnerable areas.
According to a senior official stationed in Kashmir, the latest input indicates that terrorists may target Kashmiri Pandits, migrant labourers, or even security forces personnel.
The alert was issued following the release of a video by TRF last week, in which the group threatened Indian security forces over the demolition of local houses. In the video, TRF also stated that attacks would continue if such demolitions persisted. Subsequently, the terror outfit, which is an offshoot of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), issued a press statement claiming it was not responsible for the Pahalgam attack.
'The input was received on Monday, and security forces have reiterated that troops deployed for Road Opening Parties (ROP), Naka duties, and other operations must remain alert and vigilant. Personnel have also been instructed not to use mobile phones while on duty," said a senior official familiar with the development.
'The security of vital installations, vulnerable areas, high-value targets, and pickets has been enhanced to thwart any nefarious designs of adversaries. All possible proactive and preventive measures will be implemented under close supervision at all levels," the official added.
'All units have been instructed to cease casual movements and activities after receiving credible input suggesting that terrorists may target unarmed personnel. Movements have been restricted, and personnel have been advised not to visit any location without prior intimation," the official said.
The Resistance Front (TRF) is an offshoot or proxy of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), a Pakistan-based terrorist organisation. It emerged around 2019–2020 and has claimed responsibility for several attacks, particularly targeting security forces and civilians in Kashmir.

New Delhi: Inside a hall adorned with brightly coloured banners of BJP's minority wing at Shaheen Bagh on Tuesday, a chaupal was organised to encourage women to join the Indian Army. It was a stark contrast to the passionate protests that echoed through the lanes of Shaheen Bagh in 2020. Shaheen Bagh was the epicentre of the CAA-NRC protest in 2020. The chaupal drew a small gathering of mostly party workers. When the event started, five women were present, but after a few minutes, only two were left.
