IndiGo employee alleges caste abuse by 3 colleagues; airline

New Delhi [India], June 23 (ANI): After an IndiGo trainee pilot levelled allegations against colleagues over caste abuse at the workplace, the airline refuted the claims on Monday, saying it upholds a 'zero-tolerance' policy towards any form of discrimination, harassment, or bias and commits to an inclusive and respectful workplace. In an official statement, an IndiGo spokesperson said, 'IndiGo upholds a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of discrimination, harassment, or bias and remains firmly committed to being an inclusive and respectful workplace.' The airline also 'refuted' the allegations, saying, 'IndiGo strongly refutes these baseless claims and stands by its values of fairness, integrity, and accountability. The airline will extend its support to the law enforcement agencies as required.' The statement comes after a trainee pilot reportedly filed a complaint accusing three of his colleagues of caste-based abuse at the workplace. According to the FIR registered by Haryana Police, the trainee pilot alleged that he was insulted and humiliated by three individuals during a meeting on April 28. 'Before the meeting, one of the individuals instructed me in a humiliating manner,' the FIR notes. The pilot further alleged that he was called derogatory names and told that he did not deserve to fly an aircraft. Based on his complaint, a case has been registered against the three accused under relevant provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Man held after encounter day after molesting schoolgirl

Bareilly: A 20-year-old man was arrested after a brief encounter, in which he was shot in the leg, for allegedly stalking and molesting a schoolgirl, 15, on her way back home from coaching, police said on Monday. Officers said the girl, in her school uniform, was walking home on Saturday evening when Mohd Mussabir approached her on a bike, turned around after passing her, made lewd comments and assaulted her. The entire incident was captured on CCTV. The girl's father filed a complaint at the Izzatnagar police station and an FIR was filed under BNS section 78 (stalking). Three teams were formed to trace Musabbir, a resident of Math Kamal Nayanpur in Izzatnagar. Circle officer Pankaj Srivastava said Musabbir was in a garden in the Karmachari Nagar outpost area on Sunday night. "However, he attempted to flee and fired at the team with a countrymade pistol. He was shot in the right leg in retaliatory firing and taken into custody," he said. Bareilly SSP Anurag Arya said, "The man's actions were clear in the CCTV video. When cornered, he fired at the police and the pistol he used was seized. A separate case has now been filed against Mussabir under the Arms Act and BNS section 109 (attempt to murder). He was produced in court on Monday and sent to jail."
