Are you familiar with matcha? It's a fine powder of green tea, made from tea leaves that have been grown in the shade. This growing method gives the tea leaves their iconic bright green colour and strong flavour. Although most of the world's matcha is produced in Japan, it originated from China, and is now a very popular ingredient in many foods and drinks.
We've rounded up 10 of our favourite drinks that you absolutely have to try — so you won't feel FOMO!
'Not your usual salad and matcha bar' is Habit's slogan. While their main focus is on grain and salad bowls with fresh and healthy ingredients, they also have a Matchabar where you can choose from an assortment of matcha drinks. HAUS Coffee would be what one would call a 'hidden gem', because it's quite literally hidden inside a thrift store, of all places. Located at Golden Mile Tower, HAUS Coffee is inside the Rookies & HAUS Concept Store, which is also home to a vintage clothing store.
Besides serving coffee, HAUS Coffee also has a robust selection of tea, including matcha. They blend whipping cream and sugar into their matcha, creating a thick and creamy consistency that isn't too cloying or sweet. One of their most viral drinks is the Banana Pudding Matcha (S$9.50). A matcha latte is topped with a decadent banana pudding consisting of a base of sponge cake, custard, whipped cream, fresh banana slices and lots of crunchy Biscoff cookie crumbs. There's also the crowd favourite, Iced Strawberry Matcha (S$8), which features a tangy strawberry compote base.

Located on Level 2 of Hong Lim Complex is hole-in-the-wall bakery shop Pretty Good Muffins. They opened in Aug 2024, and specialise in affordable (but delicious) muffins. You can also get drinks like brewed tea and chocolate at reasonable prices – matcha drinks are as little as S$4. It's started by a trio who formerly operated a bouncy castle business – not the kind of people you'd expect to venture into F&B.
The Banana Pudding Matcha (S$5.90) features ceremonial-grade matcha whisked thoroughly before being combined with milk, then topped with homemade banana pudding. The matcha is smooth and fragrant, while the banana pudding isn't too sweet and comes with fruit and biscuits layered into it for a rich, cake-like texture. Mad Roaster at Amoy Street Food Centre isn't just your usual hawker coffee stall – they sell solid coffees and drinks, and a part of the proceeds from every cup sold goes to refugees in Asia. Founded by Madeline Chan in 2022, the idea for the stall came about when her work as a part-time lawyer saw her helping refugees apply for asylum in Thailand. They don't just have drinks – there's an entire menu filled with sweet and savoury matcha items. Think crispy matcha waffles topped with gelato and matcha kunafa, and matcha grilled cheese. Yes, you read that right – matcha grilled cheese.

Located at 50A Marine Terrace Market, Cornershop is one of the newest kids on the block to offer trendy drinks that you'd normally only find in a cafe at wallet-friendly prices. Located under a HDB block at Jalan Bukit Merah, this takeaway spot has an adorable aesthetic with a capybara happily sipping on a drink. There are customisations for sugar level, type of matcha, milk, and ice amount for Creamie Sippies' offerings. Each drink is S$8.90, which might seem steep at first, but with each cup sized at 500ml, it's actually quite worthwhile. They're a quaint little cafe with a rustic charm tucked away on level 2 of Hong Lim Complex. They have a variety of matcha lattes and bakes such as brownies and croissants, plus they charge nett prices too. Neat!

Located in Amoy Street Food Centre, Daylight Coffee is owned by a pair of cousins and their mutual friend. Their belief that 'people deserve better quality coffee for cheaper' was the main reason they set up shop in a hawker centre instead. They serve up drinks you'd commonly find in a cafe setting, and their menu is fairly extensive. There are various coffees, including several lattes and local kopi.
They have pure Matcha (S$3.50 for hot, S$4/S$5 for iced), Dirty Matcha (S$5 for hot, S$5.50/S$6.50 for iced) and Matcha Latte (S$4 for hot, S$4.50/S$5.50 for iced). The Matcha Latte has a higher milk to matcha ratio, which 'softens' the drink and makes it more palatable for those who aren't used to straight matcha. Prices are also affordable when compared to other places. A good place for a pick-me-up if you're in the area.

Patriots rookies' first impressions: How have their 11 draft picks looked at OTAs?
Earlier this week, New England Patriots offensive line coach Doug Marrone sidestepped questions about rookie Will Campbell's development so far. It was fair to be a bit evasive considering, as Marrone pointed out, there have only been a few spring practices, the players aren't yet wearing pads, they're not quite at full go and the playbook is simplified. Advertisement That said, only Drake Maye's development is more important this summer than the question of how Campbell fares at left tackle, particularly given that the Pats used the No. 4 pick in April's draft on him. So even if the Patriots are merely finishing their voluntary OTA practices this week, we've now had a chance to see the team's 11-person draft class on the field. With minicamp on the horizon, let's offer up some first impressions. There is, of course, still a long way to go for these rookies and plenty of development that coaches are banking on. But here's how things stack up in early June. Off the field, Campbell has done everything you'd want from the No. 4 pick. He says the right things, has vowed to protect Maye and stuck around after practice to pick veterans' brains. On the field, it's been up and down. But that's to be expected, as multiple coaches noted, especially from a rookie offensive lineman. Most every play is lined up as third-and-10, so rushers can pin their ears back and go. Playbooks are still being learned, and no one is wearing pads, so there's an early advantage for speed rushers, which hurts players like Campbell. Even if the Pats O-line has been beaten on the edges so far (including Campbell), it doesn't really matter unless it continues well into August. 2025 outlook: There's little doubt he's going to be the starting left tackle. OTAs aren't a great setup for him since it favors speedy edge rushers. But the future is bright, and that should show up more in training camp. I was pretty critical of this pick when the Pats took him in the second round. (I didn't think a rebuilding team needed to use a pick that high on a running back.) But Henderson is a ton of fun to watch and brings a pop that the offense doesn't have without him. He has been the lone consistently explosive player in OTAs. His speed is obvious. He might be the most fun player for fans to watch in training camp. 2025 outlook: My bold prediction: Henderson overtakes Rhamondre Stevenson as the starting running back in the first half of the season and leads the team in rushing yards. Like all rookies, he's had ups and downs. So far, what's been good to see is that he isn't a repeat offender with his mistakes (which has been an issue with some rookie receivers the Patriots have drafted in recent years). One thing to keep an eye on in camp? On an offense that lacks juice, he needs to prove to Maye that he can be a downfield target. 2025 outlook: The guess here is he'll be the team's No. 4 wide receiver, eventually settling into a role behind Demario Douglas, Stefon Diggs and Mack Hollins or Kayshon Boutte. He has been a limited participant, so it's difficult to glean too much. But his athleticism is intriguing, and he looks the part (along with his athletic testing) of a long-term center in the NFL. 2025 outlook: Training camp will bring a competition between him and Garrett Bradbury for the starting job, but Bradbury probably enters with a slight leg up, which could put Wilson on the bench to start the season. Teammates have raved about the way Woodson has taken to the defense and his maturity on the back end. He has gotten additional reps because of Kyle Dugger's injury, and so far, he's making the most of them. Advertisement 2025 outlook: It's going to be a crowded group of safeties, which could make it tough for Woodson to carve out a role, but he should contribute on special teams if nothing else. It's tough for interior defensive linemen to stand out in OTAs since there are far more passing plays than rushes. That said, he has already shown nice instincts filling a hole in a simulated rush and tipping a pass on Monday. 2025 outlook: He'll likely begin as a backup but has a chance to carve out a bigger role if he plays well against the run. With the defensive front seven rotating a lot, Swinson has had plenty of early opportunities and shown flashes with some burst off the edge. Again, this portion of the offseason favors players like Swinson, but it's not a bad thing to stand out. 2025 outlook: The opportunity is there for him to carve out a role since a lot is unsettled on the edge, but he'll be behind Harold Landry and Keion White. I stood behind the kick returners on Monday, and it was interesting hearing them tell each other to adjust because Borregales' kicks were coming in from a higher trajectory than John Parker Romo's, a testament to the rookie's strong leg. 2025 outlook: Barring a terrible camp, he'll be the kicker. Bryant is typically one of the final players to leave the practice field and has taken to following right tackle Morgan Moses around, since the vet has been so willing to share tidbits between plays and on the sideline. 2025 outlook: A spot on the practice squad is most likely, but he could develop into a swing tackle down the road. 2025 outlook: Not much to report here other than the snaps at practice seem fine and Ashby will be the new long snapper, following the incredible run Joe Cardona had with the Patriots at the position. Advertisement Carlton Davis wasn't at practice Monday, so Minor got extra reps. It's tough to evaluate too much since corners are told 50-50 balls in OTAs should go to receivers, but speed could be an issue for him once the pads come on. 2025 outlook: He's probably a long shot to make the squad, but nothing is settled for the Pats at cornerback behind Christian Gonzalez and Davis. Here's our daily Wordle guide with some hints and the answer for Tuesday's puzzle (#1,445). It may be that you're a Wordle newcomer and you're not completely sure how to play the game. We're here to help with that too. Wordle is a deceptively simple daily word game that first emerged in 2021. The gist is that there is one five-letter word to deduce every day by process of elimination. The daily word is the same for everyone. Wordle blew up in popularity in late 2021 after creator Josh Wardle made it easy for players to share an emoji-based grid with their friends and followers that detailed how they fared each day. The game's success spurred dozens of clones across a swathe of categories and formats. The New York Times purchased Wordle in early 2022 for an undisclosed sum. The publication said that players collectively played Wordle 5.3 billion times in 2024. So, it's little surprise that Wordle is one of the best online games and puzzles you can play daily. To start playing Wordle, you simply need to enter one five-letter word. The game will tell you how close you are to that day's secret word by highlighting letters that are in the correct position in green. Letters that appear in the word but aren't in the right spot will be highlighted in yellow. If you guess any letters that are not in the secret word, the game will gray those out on the virtual keyboard. However, you can still use those letters in subsequent guesses. You'll only have six guesses to find each day's word, though you still can use grayed-out letters to help narrow things down. It's also worth remembering that letters can appear in the secret word more than once. Wordle is free to play on the NYT's website and apps, as well as on Meta Quest headsets. The game refreshes at midnight local time. If you log into a New York Times account, you can track your stats, including the all-important win streak. If you have a NYT subscription that includes full access to the publication's games, you don't have to stop after a single round of Wordle. You'll have access to an archive of more than 1,400 previous Wordle games. So if you're a relative newcomer, you'll be able to go back and catch up on previous editions. In addition, paid NYT Games members have access to a tool called the Wordle Bot. This can tell you how well you performed at each day's game.
