Paul Costelloe will close inaugural Ireland Fashion Week
The London-based Irishman will take a central role at the new event, which is due to take place in Dublin from October 6 to 10.
Galway-born tech entrepreneur Ashley McDonnell is the person bringing fashion week to Irland for the very first time.
The event is set to bring together "leading designers, international industry figures, the most stylish Irish and the global media" the organisers explain.

They will be "welcomed to enjoy several fashion shows featuring the country's most celebrated names as well as exciting up-and-comers', they add.
This week it was confirmed that the event, which will be sponsored by Visa, will be closed by Costelloe, in what will be a much-anticipated homecoming for the Dubliner.
'As one of the most established names in Irish fashion, Paul's inclusion marks a defining moment for Ireland Fashion Week, bringing four decades of excellence and his legendary craftsmanship home to Dublin,' the organisers state.
'Since establishing his eponymous fashion house, Paul Costelloe has built an extraordinary legacy that seamlessly blends hand-crafted luxurious fabrics with cutting-edge design, innovation and creativity,' they add.
'Drawing inspiration from his Irish heritage and deep love of equestrian elegance, Paul's designs offer a perfect balance between timeless tailoring and modern sophistication.'
IFW founder McDonnell said Costelloe's presence as the closing show is a "defining moment for Irish fashion".
'His legacy bridges generations, and his involvement in Ireland Fashion Week signals just how powerful Ireland's creative design future is,' she added.
Costelloe's show will take place at the Rotunda of Dublin's City Hall on October 10.

Hilary Weston, the Dublin-born businesswoman, philanthropist and lover of the arts – who helped build Brown Thomas as Ireland's most famous department store – has died aged 83. The luxury store – along with Penneys – was part of her late husband Galen Weston's family multi-national retail empire. Ms Weston died in London on Saturday, where she lived in recent years. She was later prominent in running Brown Thomas after her husband purchased the long-established retailer, buying one share in 1971 and then buying it outright in 1983. She served as vice-chair of Holt Renfrew, the group's luxury retail chain in Canada. She held a variety of other positions in the wider family's interests, which included the conglomerate Associated British Foods, of which Penneys was a subsidiary; Fortnum & Mason; and Loblaws, the largest food retailer in Canada. She also oversaw a major property development in Florida. Born Hilary Frayne, in Dún Laoghaire, south Co. Dublin, in 1942, she was the eldest of five children and attended renowned private girls' school Loreto Abbey, Dalkey. She started to work as a model in the 1950s, working in Ireland and internationally. She met her future husband after he saw her on an advertising billboard and had auctioneer Corrie Buckley arrange an introduction. Designer Sybil Connelly, a family friend, invited Hilary to tour the US with her to model her couture collection in the 1960s. I was a sort of muse. In a way, at that time, one was representing Irish fashion,' Weston recalled a number of years ago. 'Sybil Connolly made these incredible dresses and ball gowns in fine, fine hand-pleated linen. Pic: Collins Having initially settled at the Roundwood Park estate, in Co. Wicklow, the family moved to Toronto in 1971 and Ms Weston later became a Canadian citizen. In August 1983, the IRA attempted to kidnap Mr Weston at Roundwood but gardaí had apparently been tipped off. The family was not there and two of the kidnappers were killed, while others were arrested during a gunfight with armed police. Mr Weston, who was born in England but raised in Canada, moved to Ireland in 1962 to establish Power supermarkets. He took over the Quinnsworth chain before selling it to Tesco in the 1990s. Brown Thomas acquired the Switzer group of stores and then Arnotts, the Irish operation becoming part of the Selfridges group, which the family sold in 2021 – the year Mr Weston died – for more than €4billion. Penneys now employs more than 80,000 staff across 17 countries and had sales of almost €11billion in 2024. The family's fortune is put at €20.43billion, according to latest the Sunday Times rich list. Irish Ambassador to Canada John Concannon said: 'Hilary was a very proud Irish-Canadian, who served Ireland and Canada with distinction and generosity. In addition to her successful businesses and public service in Canada, through her leadership of the Ireland Funds Canada, she made a lasting contribution to Irish-Canadian relations.' She is survived by the couple's two children, Alannah and Galen Jnr, who are involved in the family business. She will have a State funeral in Ontario, Canada.

Fleadh organisers create first Gaeilge stage in Wexford – ‘we're hoping we've started something really positive for the language'
This year's Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann will see a new stage introduced for the first time as an initiative run by the Gaelgeoirí as they build on the back of last year's success in an area dedicated specifically to the Irish language, and essentially creating a make-shift Gaeltacht for all to enjoy. Ten organisers took on the responsibility of creating an expanded itinerary for the Gaeilge activities on the back of last year's success, with over 50 events scheduled across the week, and a new stage, Beo i Selskar, the prime location for showcasing a careful balance of experienced acts and those new to the limelight.

Funeral of Seán Rocks to take place in native Monaghan
President Michael D Higgins will be among the mourners to attend the funeral of broadcaster and actor Seán Rocks in Co Monaghan. Mr Rocks, 64, the voice of Arena on RTÉ Radio 1, died in Dublin last week following a brief illness. President Higgins described him as one of Ireland's finest broadcasters and advocates for the arts and artists. His funeral Mass will take place in St Macartan's Cathedral in his native Monaghan town at 11am. The chief celebrant will be the parish priest for Ballybay, Canon Patrick McGinn, who is understood to be a friend of the Rocks family. Taoiseach Micheál Martin will be represented at the funeral by his aide-de-camp, Commandant Joseph Glennon. Some of the biggest names from the Irish arts community are also expected to attend the funeral, and pay their respects to the broadcaster, who has been described as someone who championed artists and the industry. Mr Rocks, who presented RTÉ Radio 1's nightly arts and culture magazine, Arena, since its inception in 2009, died at St Vincent's University Hospital in Dublin last Wednesday. Born on 8 June 1961, Mr Rocks was raised in Monaghan town with his two brothers and two sisters. He trained and worked as a teacher for seven years, before moving on to a career in acting. He then began presenting programmes on RTÉ Lyric FM in 2000, before producing and presenting documentaries and arts programming on RTÉ Radio 1. He lived in Dundrum in Co Dublin. Mr Rocks regularly hosted important national literary and arts events, and he was a familiar voice at State occasions. He was the MC at notable events at Áras an Uachtaráin down through the years, and also at the State Banquet at Dublin Castle for the visit of Queen Elizabeth II to Ireland in 2011. His sudden death last week shocked those who knew him both professionally and personally, and sparked an outpouring of tributes to the broadcaster, who was known to be at the heart of the Irish arts community. Mr Rocks has been remembered for his warm manner and unassuming intelligence, his interest in all forms of the arts, and his ability to naturally communicate this knowledge. He will be laid to rest in Latlorcan Cemetery following his funeral mass in the nearby cathedral. He is survived by his wife Catherine, his sons Morgan and Christian, and his wide circle of family and friends.
