Georgia baseball plays Georgia Tech in the Braves' stadium
The No. 5 ranked Georgia Bulldogs (32-6) baseball team plays the No. 13 ranked Georgia Tech (27-9). The in-state rivals play in Truist Park (home of the Atlanta Braves) in their only meeting all season on Tuesday, April 15 at 7:00 p.m. ET.
The Georgia-Georgia Tech game is the 22nd edition of the Spring Classic (held between Georgia and Georgia Tech at the Braves' stadium or a AAA affiliate). Georgia holds the all-time series lead 14-7.
The Spring Classic will benefit Children's Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) and is not televised. The game is available via the radio with Jeff Dantzler and David Johnston on the call for 960TheRef. Tickets for the game are $28 each (includes fees).
Georgia and Georgia Tech baseball don't like each. Georgia eliminated Georgia Tech from the NCAA Tournament last season to advance to the super regionals. Georgia Tech isn't happy about allowing Georgia to comeback from down three runs in what ended up being their final game last season, but Georgia also still remembers when Georgia Tech controversially cancelled a 2024 game that Georgia had essentially clinched.
Georgia Tech enters the game having won eight of its last nine games. Georgia has won three of its last four games including winning its most recent series against previously No. 1 Arkansas.

Are Braves Potential Landing Spot for Ketel Marte After 'Diva' Report?
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Arizona Diamondbacks are turning heads around Major League Baseball. Months after signing second baseman Ketel Marte to a multi-year extension, the Diamondbacks are reportedly looking to trade him in the offseason, according to MLB insider Bob Nightengale. ARLINGTON, TEXAS - AUGUST 13: Ketel Marte #4 of the Arizona Diamondbacks flips his bat after hitting a three-run home run during the ninth inning against the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field on August... ARLINGTON, TEXAS - AUGUST 13: Ketel Marte #4 of the Arizona Diamondbacks flips his bat after hitting a three-run home run during the ninth inning against the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field on August 13, 2025 in Arlington, Texas. More"The worst-kept secret in the Arizona Diamondbacks organizationis out: They will listen to offers on All-Star second baseman Ketel Marte this winter, knowing that while Marte is extremely talented, he can be a diva in the clubhouse, agitating his teammates and coaching staff. His detractors are still angry that he took a day off the final week of last season when they were fighting for their playoff lives. "Though Marte's house in Arizona was robbed the night of the All-Star Game, he took a vacation after the break, leaving the D-backs seething. .... The D-backs won't trade their three-time All-Star and NLCS MVP who has $92.5 million left on his contract after this season without getting fair value in return, but they're also aware that he'll become a 10-and-5 player early next season that gives him full no-trade rights. Certainly, the phone lines will be open." Aside from the fact that Marte's behavior is new within the last few months, it appears Arizona wants to start over. Enter the Atlanta Braves as a possible landing spot for Marte. The Braves will likely be shopping Ozzie Albies in the offseason, which will create an opening at second base. While Marte's contract would increase payroll and he is older than Albies, adding the 31-year-old infielder would help the Braves turn things around after a disappointing season. Entering Sunday, Marte was slashing .298/.399/.558 for the Diamondbacks with 23 home runs and 56 RBI. His bat would provide a major upgrade for a Braves lineup that is searching for offensive help. Atlanta would need to play its cards right when discussing deals to acquire Marte and shop Albies as it needs to hold onto the power in the negotiations. General manager Alex Anthopoulos will have his hands full in that regard. However, if the Braves have a chance to acquire Marte, they should absolutely push to get the deal done. Yankees have a Max Fried problem in their pitching rotation
Yankees have a Max Fried problem in their pitching rotation originally appeared on The Sporting News For so much of the season, Max Fried had been brilliant. The New York Yankees signed Fried this offseason to help helm their rotation with Gerrit Cole, and once Cole sustained a season-ending elbow injury, this became fully Fried's show. The star lefty, formerly of the Atlanta Braves, was up to the task. Almost every time out, he was in total control. But lately, things have gotten rough for Fried. In each of his last six starts, he's allowed at least four runs. In that span, he has a 7.20 ERA. MORE: Juan Soto, Josh Naylor and Cal Raleigh are making stolen bases cool again On Saturday night in St. Louis, Fried allowed five runs through two innings. He actually settled in, made it through five innings and earned a victory on his record as the Yankees' bats took the game over. It wasn't good, though. Fried struggled to get ahead in counts and left pitches over the heart of the plate for the Cardinals to hit, punctuated by a three-run home run for Masyn Winn. Adding to the problems: Fried has dealt with blisters in the second half of the season. It's something he had issues with in Atlanta, and it's a bit unpredictable as far as knowing when they'll arise and how they'll affect his availability. MORE: Phillies' pitcher Matt Strahm has the funniest reason for investing in Pokemon cards Because the reality is this: Even if Fried is struggling, the Yankees need him. He's got experience and top-notch talent. They don't have enough depth in their pitching ranks to imagine a world where Fried isn't available for a long stretch. They've already fallen down in the American League playoff race and are just clinging to a wild card spot at the moment. There's still time to move back up, but there's also time to collapse further. Fried will be at the center of the Yankees' fortunes. And unless he turns it around, this won't be the end of the season anyone drew up when Fried was dominating games early this season in pinstripes. Inside Georgia football's backup quarterback situation
Georgia Bulldogs fans are very familiar with the importance of having a good backup quarterback. Last season, the Bulldogs won an SEC championship with Gunner Stockton coming in and playing well in the second half against Texas after Carson Beck suffered a serious elbow injury. In 2025, Georgia is expected to start redshirt junior Gunner Stockton. Georgia has almost no experience behind Stockton in the quarterback room. Stockton's projected backup, Ryan Puglisi, is a redshirt freshman, and has never appeared in a game for Georgia. Puglisi is a pocket passer and a former four-star recruit. Georgia coach Kirby Smart likes how Puglisi prepares, but if he has to play for an extended period of time, then that could spell trouble for Georgia. Puglisi has gotten a lot of practice reps this offseason and is expected to see his first game action early in the season against Marshall and/or Austin Peay. However, Puglisi still has a lot to learn. "He prepares really hard," Georgia coach Kirby Smart said on Puglisi. "He studies, he's smart, picks things up. He makes mistakes, we'll say I'll do, and he learns from them. He generally knows when he messed up, he's walking off the field in the scrimmage and didn't change the protection on the play that he knew he should have. "He knew it messed him up, but he knew it right away, which is different than where he was this time last year. He's still trying to figure that out. He makes some really good throws and he's more comfortable in the pocket than he's been. He understands things much better and he has a confidence about it that has helped." Puglisi looked solid in Georgia's G-Day spring game, especially with the first-team offense (three of three for 52 passing yards and a touchdown with the first-team offense). Puglisi has gotten a lot of reps and went 23 of 49 for 224 passing yards, two touchdowns and one interception in the spring game. He flashed a bit more mobility than we expected and rushed six times for 24 yards on G-Day. Beyond Puglisi are even larger unknowns. Georgia's third-string quarterback may actually be preferred walk-on Colter Ginn, who is only a redshirt freshman. Additionally, competing for the third-string role are true freshmen Ryan Montgomery (four-star) and Hezekiah Millender (three-star). Montgomery comes in as the No. 14 quarterback recruit in the nation, but he tore his ACL early into his senior year of high school. He lacks experience like the rest of Georgia's quarterback room outside of Gunner Stockton. "Yeah, mentally, he gets it, and he's very into the mental side of it," Smart said on Montgomery. "He throws a very catchable ball, a very accurate passer. A little overwhelmed at times and probably thinking too much in terms of, we give the quarterback a lot, and we give a freshman quarterback a lot, because it's a lot greater than what they're used to. But he's handled that volume well, and he does a good job processing information and taking coaching to the field, which is a good sign for a quarterback." Overall, Georgia's quarterback room lacks experience beyond Gunner Stockton. Georgia's lack of quarterback depth should make the Bulldogs hesitant to have designed runs for Stockton. Frankly we don't feel this team is capable of winning a national championship with a backup quarterback unlike some of the previous Georgia teams. This is not a good year for quarterback depth at Georgia, but Ryan Puglisi could fill in for a starter as a game or two and keep the team afloat. Georgia quarterback depth chart
