A woman has been struck with a machete after a violent attempted carjacking in Melbourne.
The woman was refuelling at a service station on the Princes Highway at Dandenong when a white Ford SUV pulled up behind her.
As she returned to her car, three men approached and tried to steal her keys. One of them struck her in the arm with a machete before they fled the scene.

She is also charged with the attempted murder of Ian Wilkinson, Heather's husband. Her estranged husband, Simon Patterson, was also invited to lunch but didn't attend. Prosecutors say Patterson knowingly served the guests lethal death cap mushrooms in a beef wellington at her home in Leongatha, Victoria, Australia, on 29 July, 2023. The 50-year-old denies all the charges, claiming the deaths were a "terrible accident". Under cross-examination on Thursday by the prosecution in court, Patterson was asked whether a series of photos of mushrooms placed on weighing scales in her kitchen was evidence she had been measuring a "fatal dose" to serve to her lunch guests. "I suggest that you were weighing these death cap mushrooms so that you could calculate the weight required for the administration of a fatal dose for one person. Agree or disagree?" barrister Nanette Rogers said. "Disagree," Patterson replied. Patterson accepted she had lied to police and medical professionals after the lunch when she was asked whether she had ever foraged for mushrooms or owned a food dehydrator - which was later found in a waste disposal plant containing traces of death caps. Giving evidence earlier in the day while being questioned by her own barrister, Colin Mandy, Patterson told the trial in Morwell, Victoria, she did not intentionally pick death cap mushrooms, or knowingly serve them to her lunch guests. She also denied that she pretended to be sick after the lunch to avoid becoming a suspect in the case.

Kate Ritchie's footy star ex-husband is charged with refusing breath test following string of drink driving offences
Kate Ritchie 's ex-husband and former NRL player Stuart Webb has been charged with refusing a breath test. The 44-year-old former Sydney Roosters hooker was pulled over in Sydney by Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command at 11.10pm on May 5. Webb was charged with refusing to submit a breath analysis and driving an unregistered vehicle. He was listed to appear at Waverley Local Court on Wednesday and the hearing was adjourned to be heard again at Downing Local Court on July 9. Mr Webb has previously been caught drink driving by police on five occasions. He was most recently charged with drink driving in 2019, with court documents stating that it was his 'fifth PCA (prescribed contention of alcohol) offence since 1999.' Two of those incidents are understood to have taken place in 2012 and 2017, while he was married to Ms Ritchie. He was handed a six-month driving ban in 2019 and an interlock device was fitted to his car for 24 months. A magistrate had told Mr Webb he was 'lucky he hasn't been sent to jail' noting that his driving record was 'appalling'. The former Sydney Roosters star was placed on a conditional release order for two years. In 2003, Mr Webb was signed by the Sydney Roosters and made his debut for the club later that year. After two seasons at Moore Park, he'd hop over to rivals, South Sydney. A year later, he'd move again, joining up with St George, where he would make 19 appearances across the 2008-2009 season, before stepping away from NRL football. After hanging up his footy boots Mr Webb would pursued a career as a chef. At the end of that season, Mr Webb proposed to radio personality Ritchie during a European getaway. The pair are understood to have begun dating in 2008. They subsequently tied the knot at a countryside outdoor ceremony at Quamby Estate in Tasmania in 2010, but after nearly 10 years of marriage, they chose to part ways in 2020. They would also have a baby girl, Mae, in 2014. Rumours had swirled that their marriage was on the rocks in 2019, with Mr Webb subsequently being hit with an apprehended violence order (AVO) in 2019. The order was made for the Home and Away star's protection. It came as a NSW Police spokesperson confirmed officers were 'investigating an incident at a home in Randwick' where it was understood the couple had lived, but no charges were laid. Conditions of the AVO state that Mr Webb was 'not to approach or be in the company of Katherine Leigh Ritchie for at least 12 hours after drinking alcohol or taking illicit drugs.' He was also required not to threaten, stalk or harass the TV star. Despite that, Ms Ritchie and her ex-husband have reunited on several occasions, most notably to attend their daughter Mae's football matches. Ms Ritchie, who had gone public with new boyfriend Will Skelton, and Mr Webb cut friendly figures as they shared a happy chat on the field. They had also reunited to celebrate their daughter's 10th birthday last year.

Horrific twist in missing woman case that gripped Italy as victim is found decapitated in her suitcase and 'killer' reveals 'shocking reason why he did it'
A 30-year-old woman who disappeared in Italy last month has been found decapitated inside a suitcase. The headless body of Denisa Maria Adas Paun was found on Wednesday in Montecani hidden among thick vegetation near an abandoned farmhouse. Adas, a Romanian national who worked as an escort, disappeared on May 15 from the Tuscan town of Prato, where she had scheduled to see some clients. Following the discovery of her body, cops arrested Romanian-born Vasile Frumuzache, 32, who admitted to killing Adas. The security guard's arrest came after investigators found that on the night of her disappearance, Adas had spoken on the phone with a Romanian man. CCTV footage inspected by police showed a man arriving at Ada's hotel room at 10.50pm with a black bag. He stayed for two hours and fifteen minutes, before cameras showed him leaving the property with a white suitcase belonging to Adas. Upon his arrest Frumuzach told investigators: 'She was blackmailing me, that's why I killed her.' The security guard, who is a father-of-two, told cops he met Adas on a dating app before visiting her at her hotel, where they had sex. Frumuzache claims that after he told Adas he was married, she threatened to contact his wife and asked him for 10,000 euros 'in exchange for silence'. He then strangled her and decapitated her with a knife, put her body in a rubbish bag and stuffed her remains in a suitcase, Italian news outlet Corriere Fiorentino reports. The next day, he set fire to her head on fire in a garden using gasoline. His chilling confession puts an end to a missing person's case that gripped the nation. Adas disappearance last month caused alarm after it was revealed that she had told friends and family that she was 'afraid of being killed' just hours before she vanished. Some had speculated that Adas had voluntarily wanted to go away, but her loved ones were sure that something more sinister had happened. Their suspicions came after she travelled more than 185 miles from Rome to Prato. Adas had last spoken to her mother on the eve of her disappearance from her hotel room. She did not know anyone in Prato and had only travelled there for work. All seemed well, as she told her mother: 'Hi Mum, I'm fine, see you at home on Saturday.' But her mother never heard from Adas again. Her two mobile phones ahd been switched off, while her red Fiat Cinqueccento was left in a car park close to the accommodation she had booked for the night. Investigators originally believed that she has disappeared on her own accord, after her phones, purse, car keys, at least two suitcases and a blanket she never travelled without were found to be missing. But stranger details lingered, including that the room was discovered to be unlocked and inserted from the inside. Adas is said to have told her friends just days before her disappearance: 'If they find me, they'll kill me'. Police launched an investigation into her possible kidnapping.
