Kansas singer Ronnie Platt is recovering after successful surgery to treat thyroid cancer.
Platt, 63, reveals in a statement posted on Facebook that his doctors report the surgery went very well and he says he's resting up and looking forward to getting back to work.
He says: "I am home! The doctor said my surgery couldn't have gone any better.
"I felt the power of everyone's prayers and positive energy. You all have helped me. How do I, or can I, ever thank all of you for that?
"Day one of recovery here I am.
"I am looking forward to getting back to what I do best. Yes, singing, but my true job is entertaining you all and helping you at least for a couple hours forget about your problems and recharge your batteries.
"I take a lot of pride in that. Thank you all again, carry on!"
Kansas recently cancelled a number of live shows in the wake of Platt's diagnosis. They still have a raft of shows scheduled through 2025, with the next performance due to take place in early April. The full schedule can be seen below.
Last year, drummer Phil Ehart stepped away from live performance with Kansas as he recovered from a major heart attack. His seat was temporarily filled by drum tech Eric Holmquist.

Jurassic World: Rebirth Director Reveals Ridley Scott Movie That Inspired The Sequel (And It's Not Alien)
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Ridley Scott's fingerprint can be seen on pretty much every great sci-fi movie that has come out since his 1979 space horror film Alien changed the game. Many filmmakers have been influenced by his movies over the years, including Gareth Edwards, whose upcoming Jurassic World: Rebirth is about to make another addition to the Jurassic Park franchise. However, it wasn't Alien that inspired the new sequel. Ahead of the premiere of one of the biggest releases on the 2025 movie schedule, Edwards sat down for a chat with SFX Magazine (via to discuss his upcoming sci-fi thriller and where he took inspiration from to bring the dinosaur blockbuster to the big screen. During that conversation, the Godzilla and Rogue One director revealed that it was Scott's 2005 historical drama, Kingdom of Heaven, that inspired him greatly, specifically when it came to the director of photography: John Mathieson was the director of photography, and the more and more I looked at it, the more I was like, 'This is perfection.' There's not a bad frame in this movie. I've always had this love for his work. Mahieson, who first worked with Scott on the 2000 Best Picture winner Gladiator, has collaborated with the famed filmmaker multiple times over the years, including most recently with Gladiator II. His work on Kingdom of Heaven, a great movie that somehow flopped at the box office, is honestly some of his best work. Based on Edwards' comments, he really wanted to work with the man who gave Kingdom of Heaven such a captivating look and feel, but he had to work with Universal to get the ball rolling, as he revealed: When you start a film like this, you have a group of names you'd like to work with, and the studio have a group of names they would trust. Then there's Steven [Spielberg] as well in the middle of that. There was this one little overlap where they all intersected, and everyone agreed on Mathieson. Luckily, everyone agreed on bringing in Mathieson to serve as the director of photography for Jurassic World: Rebirth. Though it's unlikely there will be any flashbacks to the new mutated Distortus Rex (which was inspired by Alien) fighting off waves of Crusaders, it will be interesting to see how the two-time Academy Award nominee and prolific music video cinematographer handles the latest dinosaur movie. With the release of Jurassic World: Rebirth right around the corner in theaters on July 2, 2025, it will be interesting to see what other tidbits of information about the movie and its influences Gareth Edwards and others share with us all. If anything, I'm curious to see what those claims that the movie will honor the series' canon mean for the big blockbuster. In the meantime, all six previous Jurassic Park/World movies are streaming with a Peacock subscription. And while Kingdom of Heaven isn't currently streaming anywhere, it's worth seeking it out for the epic's 20th anniversary.

Why Julie Kavner May Not Be Leaving The Simpsons
The latest episode has led fans to wonder whether Julie Kavner, who voices Marge, might be leaving The Simpsons. The final episode, titled Estranger Things, is set in the future, where Bart and Lisa have grown estranged. Their mother, Marge, is no longer alive in this timeline, but she watches over them from heaven, worried. This has sparked concern among fans about whether Marge is dead in the present and if Kavner has left the beloved show. Here are the details. Marge is shown to be dead in a future setting, not in the present. This means she is still alive in the show's current timeline and is not leaving. Julie Kavner is expected to return for Season 37. The finale takes place 35 years in the future, where Bart and Lisa are adults. Over time, they've grown apart and no longer watch The Itchy & Scratchy Show together—something Marge feared deeply, which she sees happening from the afterlife. A flash-forward scene shows mourners gathered at Marge's grave. Her tombstone reads, 'Beloved wife, mother, and pork-chop seasoner.' The episode does not explain what caused her death. Lisa is also seen opening a letter from Marge, written to be read after her death. In it, Marge jokes that she likely wouldn't die before Homer and urges her children to stay connected. Later, Lisa returns to Springfield to find Bart and Homer at the family home, but discovers Homer has been sent to Florida by Springfield's Senior Protective Services. The estranged siblings work together to bring their father back, much to the delight of Marge, who is watching from the afterlife. She is shown resting in heaven with her high school crush, Ringo Starr. In an interview with PEOPLE, showrunner and executive producer Matt Selman addressed the episode, noting it explores what the show's ending might look like—if it ever ends. He said, 'I don't think about it, so I'm just going to not think about that. But certainly, it's just if the show ever does a last episode.' This suggests that Marge is not dead in the present timeline and will appear in the next season.

More The Bold and the Beautiful The Bold and the Beautiful recap for June 16, 2025The Bold and the Beautiful recap for June 13, 2025The Bold and the Beautiful recap for June 12, 2025The Bold and the Beautiful recap for June 11, 2025 Today's episode begins at Forrester Creations, where Nick (Jack Wagner) is marveling at Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) and how amazing she is. He kisses her again, and she reciprocates. At Eric's, Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) and Taylor (Rebecca Budig) share a kiss, and she teases him that he never answered her about Brooke. Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) asks Hayes (Bryan David Garlick) about his art class at the beach while Liam (Scott Clifton) thanks Finn (Tanner Novlan) for taking the threat of Luna (Lisa Yamada) so seriously. Finn admits he's sleeping with a baseball bat by the bed, and he says he has it under control. Liam wants to know that there's a plan for when something bad happens. Outside, Luna is spying on them from afar. Hayes looks out the window in full view of Luna's long-range lens. Finn assures Liam that he'll never let anything happen to their family. Steffy comes over and says Liam doesn't need to worry, but Liam knows that Hayes and Kelly are 'oblivious' to the threat that Luna poses. Ridge tells Taylor that he's made it clear to Brooke that he's with Taylor now. Ridge admits he's always going to care about Brooke and be there when she needs him, but he's in love with Taylor. 'My future is with you,' he says. Brooke is breathless from her kiss. 'Well, we know that still works,' Nick laughs. Steffy tells Hayes that Electra is going to pick him up. Hayes loves Electra, and he's very excited. Liam wants Finn to know he's not criticizing his job as a husband and father, but Finn reassures him that he appreciates Liam's concern. Liam admits he's got a feeling that he just can't shake about this, and he's glad Finn is doing everything in his power to keep Luna away. Luna keeps watching the beach house, then she thinks back to the conversation about her 'half-brother' and how Steffy told her to stay away from the family. The more she thinks about it, the angrier she gets. Taylor wants Ridge to be honest with himself. She knows he believes what he's saying. She points out that Brooke isn't letting go, and if she fights enough, she'll win Ridge back. Ridge asks what Taylor wants him to say. He wonders if their relationship is enough for her. 'Talk to me,' he says. Brooke is confused about what Nick is doing there. He asks her to tell him what happened between her and Ridge, and she admits that she was trying to get the company back for him. Nick says this is Ridge's typical behavior, always running back to Taylor. He asks if she wants to be happy and be treated with kindness and respect. 'Do you want a man who will love you, and only you?' he asks. She wants all of those things. Steffy colors with Hayes while Finn and Liam watch. Liam says Luna isn't rational, and Finn says he knows. Miss Dylan walks in with the rest of the class, and all of the students start coloring, too. She thanks Liam for being able to use the beach house. Hayes thanks Liam for letting them use the house. Steffy, Liam and Finn leave, and Luna continues to watch from outside. Ridge wants to know if his 'Doc' is happy, and he chastises her for taking so long to answer. Taylor assures him that she's happy, but Brooke is always in the way. Ridge remembers when they were both friends. Taylor thinks she's always going to come for him, but Ridge thinks Brooke might find someone else. Taylor says Brooke can try all she wants because it's not working. Ridge says he's with Taylor and he's not leaving. Except that he has to go back to work. Before he leaves, Taylor tells him she has faith in him and can feel his love for her growing stronger every day. Brooke tells Nick that Ridge is a part of her and being without him is 'unthinkable.' Nick understands because Brooke has been with Ridge for so long. He thinks she's 'phenomenal' and his ego is stringing her along. He knows she thinks Ridge is her destiny, but 'what if your destiny is standing right here in front of you?' At the Malibu house, Liam says it was cool to see the kids having class. Finn thanks Liam again for making it all happen. Liam is glad to be able to have an impact. Finn says Hayes thinks of Liam as an uncle, and it makes Liam feel so good. Liam says all he thinks about is their family, and he can't find peace with Luna walking around. Back at the class, the kids have no idea that they're being watched. 'You want to keep me away from my father, Steffy? You'll be sorry,' Luna says. Nick knows Brooke believes in destiny, but he says there's a reason he ended up in LA 20 years ago and can't stop thinking about her. Wherever he goes, he says, she's always in his heart. He reminds her that they committed to each other before, and we see a flashback to their wedding. 'And here we are now,' he says. Nick wants her back in his life, but she has to be able to let go of Ridge. If she says that, he says, it will happen. They're looking into each other's eyes when Ridge walks in and wants to know what Nick is doing there. 'We were just talking about you,' Nick says. Ridge looks at Brooke, who gives him a sly look in return. The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS and the following day on Paramount Plus.
