Mastering India's F&O markets: Smarter trading and analysis with new web tools

Time of India09-05-2025
Trading in India's F&O markets
demands precision, speed, and the ability to react quickly to changing market conditions. To support this, Angel One has introduced a range of web-based tools aimed at helping traders analyze, plan, and execute strategies more effectively — all while maintaining a disciplined approach to trading.
Expanded Watchlist for better market tracking
Keeping a close eye on key stocks and contracts is now easier. Traders can expand their Watchlist to view detailed information such as Open, High, Low, Close (OHLC) prices, volume, bid-ask spread, and 52-week high/low levels. Beyond monitoring, users can perform quick actions like placing buy/sell orders, viewing market depth, exploring the option chain, setting alerts, or even adding notes. The Watchlist can also be sorted, filtered, or divided into custom sections for better organization.
Stay updated with FII/DII activity
Understanding the broader market sentiment is crucial in F&O trading. Under
Angel One's Markets section
, users can now easily view changes in FII (Foreign Institutional Investors) and DII (Domestic Institutional Investors) positions across various timelines. This visibility can help traders interpret institutional activity and adjust their strategies accordingly.
Enhanced Option Chain experience
For options traders, seamless execution is key.
Angel One's web platform
allows viewing a compact option chain alongside charts, reducing the need to toggle between multiple windows. A smaller Quick Options List is also available directly from the Watchlist, providing easy access to index option contracts when speed matters most.
Live Events
TradeOne for a focused trading setup
Serious traders often prefer an uncluttered, focused workspace.
Angel One's TradeOne setup
allows users to maximize their screen space by viewing charts, positions, and trading balances all in one window. Traders can place and exit orders directly from charts, edit open orders, and track P&L without switching tabs — creating a smoother, faster trading experience.
Post-trade analysis
for better learning
Trading doesn't end with order execution. Angel One's platform allows users to revisit their daily, weekly, or monthly performance through the P&L (Profit and Loss) page. Traders can analyze their earnings, charges, and overall trading balance in detail, helping them refine strategies and manage risk more effectively over time.

Stocks to buy or sell: Osho Krishan of Angel One suggests buying BDL, DMart shares today

Stock market today: India's stock market indices showed little movement on Thursday as investors remained cautious ahead of discussions between Russia and the U.S. regarding the Ukraine conflict, which might impact trade negotiations between the U.S. and India. Building on its gains from the prior day, the 30-share BSE Sensex rose by 154.07 points, reaching 80,693.98 in early trading. The 50-share NSE Nifty increased by 45 points to hit 24,664.35. U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin are set to discuss a potential agreement to resolve the war in Ukraine during their meeting on Friday in Alaska. Market participants in India are closely monitoring these discussions after the U.S. imposed an additional 25% tariff on Indian exports in response to New Delhi's imports of Russian oil. According to several analysts, positive developments from U.S.-Russia talks could alleviate trade tensions between the U.S. and India. The favourable global cues and easing in inflation data paved the way for a strong opening of Indian indices, setting a positive tone. The benchmark index exhibited significant resilience, maintaining a buoyant position, and ultimately concluded the day with a gain of approximately 0.55 percent, closing above the 24,600 zone. The broader participation in the market, coupled with a focus on advancements, has led to an improvement in market sentiment. Technically, the Nifty 50 index has regained its position above the 100-DEMA; however, the sustainability of this recovery within the critical resistance zone remains uncertain. On the technical front, the zone at 24,700-24,750 serves as a formidable barrier, and a decisive movement beyond this threshold could potentially initiate new long positions in the market. On the lower end, 24,500 is likely to cushion any blip on the weekly expiry, while the sacrosanct support lies around 24,400-24,350 from a positional viewpoint. Considering the upcoming weekly settlement associated with the truncated trading week, it is anticipated that market volatility will increase. Consequently, it is imperative to exercise caution and refrain from engaging in aggressive positions on either side. As long as the trend remains ambiguous, it is advisable to concentrate efforts on stock-specific opportunities. On stocks to buy on Thursday, Osho Krishan of Angel One recommended two stocks - Bharat Dynamics Ltd (BDL), and Avenue Supermarts Ltd (DMart). BDL has demonstrated a notable correction of nearly 20 percent in the past couple of trading months and has plunged towards its 200 DEMA with extreme oversold parameters. Though in the last trading session the counter has gained buying traction on the back of robust volumes, indicating an early sign of reversal. Additionally, the 14-day RSI has showcased a positive crossover from the oversold terrain, adding a bullish quotient in the counter. This development contributes a bullish perspective, coupled with a favorable risk-reward ratio. Hence, we recommend to BUY BDL around ₹ 1,570-1,560, keeping a stop loss at ₹ 1,455 for a potential Target of ₹ 1,750. DMart has demonstrated a breakout from a consolidation pattern and is currently positioned above all significant EMAs on the daily time frame chart. Recent price movements indicate the initial emergence of momentum following an extended period of inactivity. Additionally, the 14-day RSI and MACD have exhibited a positive crossover, signaling the potential for sustained momentum. This suggests the likelihood of further upward movement in the near term. Hence, we recommend to BUY DMart around ₹ 4,300, keeping a stop loss at ₹ 4,120 for a potential Target of ₹ 4,560-4,620. Should Indian stock market investors be worried about the IPO boom? Explained

The Indian primary market is on fire. 2025 has already seen a record number of filings, blockbuster listings, and frenzied investor interest across both mainboard and SME initial public offerings (IPOs). Not only have they caught retail investor interest, but the IPO euphoria is also visible in the investment trends of the institutional investors. Till July 2025, 163 public offerings have hit the market, looking to raise ₹ 67,000 crore, according to Prime Database. In August, too, there is no slowdown in the number of offerings, with many big names like JSW Cement, having accessed the IPO market and a few more lined up. G Chokkalingam, Founder, Equinomics Research, explained that the lure of strong listing gains, higher allocation by institutions and retail investors, along with a greater share of offerings from sectors not impacted by the US tariffs, is powering the IPO boom. However, as IPO-bound companies soak up massive capital inflows, especially from FPIs and mutual funds, questions are emerging: Is this IPO boom weighing down the broader market? Are the bulls in the secondary market being kept in check? And what are its implications for the Indian stock market? According to analysts, while IPOs are siphoning liquidity away from the secondary market, the primary market boom is an important feature and a necessary development. Chokkalingam said that a robust IPO market is certainly contributing to the weakness we are seeing in the secondary market. Liquidity at any point in time is limited, he explained, adding that the IPO market competes with the liquidity that would otherwise chase the secondary market and is one of the reasons pressuring the stock market bulls. There has been a record IPO filing in both the mainboard and SME segments, along with bearish flows by FPIs in the secondary markets. FPIs have preferred the IPO market over the secondary market in 2025 as they have pulled out around $17.4 billion from listed equities and invested $4.37 billion in the primary market. The mutual fund industry also demonstrated strong participation in newly-listed companies during the quarter ended June 2025, with total investments exceeding ₹ 5,294 crore across recent IPOs. Vaqarjaved Khan, CFA, Sr. Fundamental Analyst, Angel One, said a strong IPO pipeline can pressurise secondary markets as liquidity diversion for marquee investors tends to happen as they often sell existing holdings to raise cash for attractively priced IPOs. This is more pronounced when IPOs are bunched together and large in size, and the investment window is small, Khan said. There tends to be a valuation reset as well if companies in the primary market are better priced than their listed counterparts, said Khan. This, he believes, results in de-rating in the secondary markets. Sharing a contrasting view, Harshal Dasani, Business Head at INVasset, said that while short-term market momentum may face occasional pressure, in the long run, a steady flow of quality listings strengthens market breadth, price discovery, and overall stability. "With SIP inflows exceeding ₹ 28,000 crore a month and mutual fund AUM at record highs, India is awash with investable capital. If fresh supply through listings dries up, this relentless flow would be forced into a limited set of existing stocks, inflating valuations and creating bubble-like conditions," he added. This isn't the first time India's markets have danced to this tune. 'Over the last 30 years, we've repeatedly seen a pattern: first a secondary market boom, followed by an IPO boom, and then a correction,' said Chokkalingam. According to Chokkalingam, the eventual correction — often prolonged — begins once liquidity tightens and valuations lose support. 'Corrections usually last six months to three years. What brings the market back is time, bottom-fishing, improving valuations, and fresh inflows.' However, what can eventually pull the Indian stock market bulls out of slumber is the resolution of the US-India trade deal and any rate cuts by the US Federal Reserve. "On the domestic front, SIP and domestic flows continue to remain strong. Strong quarterly results from heavyweight sectors, coupled with higher liquidity, will then boost Indian equities and take it out of consolidation," Khan said.
