You're not going crazy: YouTube's playback speed controls are broken on Android
TL;DR YouTube's playback controls are broken on the Android app.
Playback speed controls are still functioning properly on the YouTube website and the iOS app.
On Android, you can tap and hold for 2x speed, but you can't change the speed settings from the gear icon.
The YouTube app for Android appears to be experiencing a glitch that has effectively broken the playback speed controls. Currently, attempting to change the playback speed of a video doesn't work as expected, with most users stuck at the default 1x speed.
This issue isn't limited to free YouTube accounts. I am a YouTube Premium subscriber and am also unable to adjust playback speed, let alone take advantage of the 4x speeds offered as a Premium benefit. Numerous users on Reddit have reported the same problem, but so far, there's been no official response or fix from Google.

Interestingly, playback speed controls are still functioning properly on the YouTube website and the iOS app.
On Android, tapping and holding the screen still increases playback speed to 2x. However, the standard speed settings accessible via the gear icon remain unresponsive.
Hopefully, Google is aware of the issue and will release a fix soon.

We recently published . Snap Inc. (NYSE:SNAP) is one of the worst-performing stocks on Wednesday. (NYSE:SNAP) said net loss widened by 6 percent to $262 million from $248.6 million in the same period last year. Revenues grew by 9 percent to $1.345 billion from $1.236 billion year-on-year. Revenues increased by 11 percent to $2.7 billion from $2.4 billion. Following the results, Snap Inc. (NYSE:SNAP) earned a lower price target of $10 from RBC Capital, as compared with the $12 previously. Still, the new figure marks a 28-percent upside from its latest closing price. RBC Capital described the second quarter as a 'tough Q2' for Snap Inc. (NYSE:SNAP), with planned ad platform development and surface expansion efforts not going according to plan. Additionally, RBC Capital said that the underperformance would 'continue to reinforce the bear case that SNAP cannot break out of being a smaller ad platform lacking the ability to durably grow its direct response business in-line with the market.' While we acknowledge the potential of SNAP as an investment, our conviction lies in the belief that some AI stocks hold greater promise for delivering higher returns and have limited downside risk.
