Shubman Gill's Gujarat Titans suffered a 20-run defeat to Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2025 Eliminator clash.
Mumbai Indians have stormed into the second qualifier of IPL 2025 with an entertaining 20-run win over Gujarat Titans in the Eliminator clash held in Mullanpur on Friday night. Chasing 229, GT finished at 208/6 despite opener Sai Sudharsan's 49-ball 80 and Washington Sundar's blistering 24-ball 48. MI will now face Punjab Kings on Sunday for a place in the final.
During the toss, an awkward moment between GT captain Shubman Gill and his MI counterpart Hardik Pandya went viral on social media. Several users shared the clip of the two with claims that Gill ignored Pandya's handshake after the latter won the coin toss.

While it may have been a genuine mistake on Gill's end up users on social media have slated the India Test captain for his act
Pandya's decision to bat first paid rich dividends as MI openers Rohit Sharma and Jonny Bairstow led a blazing start with the pair adding 84 runs in 7.2 overs. Bairstow impressed in what was his first match of the season after being called up by the franchise as a replacement for South Africa's Ryan Rickelton who left home to start his preparations for the ICC World Test Championship final.
The star of the show though was Rohit who peeled off his fourth fifty of the ongoing season. He struck an entertaining 50-ball 81 with the help of nine fours and four sixes.
In reply, GT lost the wicket of Gill early with the opener managing 1 off 2. However, Sai Sudharsan continued his excellent run, peeling off yet another half-century and looked set for another hundred but for Richard Gleeson who had him bowled for 80.
Sundar (48 off 24) and Sherfane Rutherford (24 off 15) kept GT's hopes alive but MI held on for a 20-run win.

"Panicking...": Jasprit Bumrah's Viral 'Calm Down' Gesture At Mahela Jayawardene In IPL 2025 Eliminator Decoded
Jasprit Bumrah turned out to be Mumbai Indians' saviour in the IPL 2025 Eliminator against Gujarat Titans on Friday. Bumrah took just one wicket but it was a crucial one of Washington Sundar (48, 24b), who stitched an important stand with Sai Sudharshan (80, 49b). Post that dismissal, GT fell short of the 229-run target by 20 runs. During that match, an interaction between MI coach Mahela Jayawardene and Bumrah went viral. However, Bumrah gestured towards him to calm down and take it easy before doing the same gesture to captain Hardik Pandya. Jatin Sapru who was on the Hindi broadcast at that time, said, "Bumrah is basically saying 'I know my job well. I am here. You stay calm and just give me a chance." Former RCB and India pacer Varun Aaron said Jaywardene was 'panicking' because the MI bowlers were getting hit by GT batters. "If you want wickets, he comes and gets you wickets. If you want to stop runs, he stops runs for you. Man, what a bowler," Aaron said on ESPNcricinfo's Time Out. — Nihari Korma (@NihariVsKorma) May 31, 2025 "And the belief he has in his ability. You have an international coach [Mahela Jayawardene] who is obviously panicking because his bowlers have suddenly started to go to the cleaners, and he just turns around and is like 'just calm down, I'll do the job for you'. Comes in, runs in, gets hit for a six and then gets that ball." Tom Moody, who is an IPL-winning coach, called Bumrah pure class. "The challenge every opposition has to Mumbai Indians, and Jasprit Bumrah more importantly, is that the 24 balls he bowls are such a threat," Moody said. "It's not impossible but it's so difficult to get big overs against him. So you're really playing 20 overs versus 16 to a certain extent. And he is so far ahead of the rest, it's ridiculous. "The thing with Bumrah is that he's got that genuine wicket-taking ability just through his pure class. That yorker he bowled to Washington Sundar, you just don't bowl a better ball than that. That is the absolute perfect leg-stump yorker that's gone between his legs. At pace. To a batter that's in. Set. "You see that quite often with a new batter because they still haven't picked up the pace of the game. This is a batter that's in and he's going at 200 strike rate. It just totally blew him away."

On Virat Kohli Allegedly 'Insulting' Musheer Khan, Ex India Star's Blunt Justification
The Qualifier 1 match of IPL 2025 match between Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru was a completely one-sided contest as Rajat Patidar and co registered an eight-wicket win and marched into the final. Apart from a dominating game, the match also had a controversial moment after RCB star batter Virat Kohli allegedly tried to sledge PBKS debutant Musheer Khan. Facing a batting collapse, PBKS were forced to bring-in Musheer as an impact-sub in the first innings, which also became his first IPL appearance. However, when he came to bat, Kohli, who was placed at the first slip, was heard saying, "Yeh paani pilata hai (He serves water)." Kohli saying "Ye to Pani pilata hai" to young Musheer Khan. Kohli is such a creep and shameless person. — RISHIT SHARMA (@Rishit_264) May 29, 2025 This moment from the game went viral on social media as the fans lashed out at Kohli for trying to insult a young player. However, former India pacer Atul Wassan came to Kohli's aide by stating the competitive nature of the star batter. "Virat has a competitive nature; even if he plays with his own baby, he would like to win. One should not feel bad about it. When you are playing the game, consider yourself equal, and don't expect an inch, nor give an inch," Wassan said on the OTTplay 'Bails and Banter' show. "If you can't do the time, don't do the crime. If someone is doing it within the line, it's fine. Sledging is a mixture of sarcasm, wit and being obnoxious," he added. Wassan further stated that sledging at some extent should be allowed as the players should be free to express themselves. "Of course, there should be no physical confrontation, but certain gestures should not be misinterpreted, which entirely depends on the match officials. You have to let people express themselves within the limits," said Wassan. Talking about the incident, when Musheer arrived on the field to bat, Virat was spotted calling him a 'water-boy', who had come in to deliver water to his teammates a few overs ago. The act from the RCB stalwart triggered a huge debate on social media. A section of fans suggested that Kohli was 'abusing' the Punjab Kings youngster by calling him a 'water boy'. The RCB icon's fans defended him, highlighting the fact that Kohli had gifted Musheer one of his bats earlier in the season. Some also pointed out the fact that Musheer idolises Virat as a batter.
