What Celtic transfer target Jakob Breum has said about move

The 21-year-old appears to be at the top of the Hoops' list with regards to recruiting a new winger. Nicolas Kuhn was sold to Como for a fee in excess of £17m earlier this summer, while Jota remains sidelined until the end of the year, meaning it's an area of the pitch that needs addressed by Brendan Rodgers. The Scottish Premiership champions have already seen their offers of around £3m rejected by Go Ahead Eagles, with the Dutch outfit seeking closer to £6.5m. Speaking ahead of the summer window, the winger admitted he's open to furthering his career sooner rather than later. He recently told TV 2: "Of course I have ambitions to try myself at a higher level, but when that is, time will tell. "I'm not just going to play a few good months and then take the next step. I can still develop even more here, so I'm not in a hurry to get away. Read more: "I'm very open to the next step. It all depends on what offers come in. "It's not like I have certain leagues that I just have to go to. "But of course I'm aiming for as high a level as possible because it's the dream to play against the very best."

Go Ahead Eagles are sticking to their big money price tag for the 21-year-old winger Celtic have seen Go Ahead Eagles dig in over their valuation of Jakob Breum - but the winger has already opened the door to a move. ‌ The Hoops are in need of reinforcements on the flanks after Nicolas Kuhn joined Como in a £17.2million deal - while Jota is sidelined until next year. ‌ Antwerp's Belgian winger Michel-Ange Balikwisha is on their radar while the door is open for Celtic to revive their interest in Sondre Orjasaeter this summer - but 21-year-old Breum appears to be at the top of the list. ‌ Three bids have already been turned down for the Danish winger so far this summer from the Scottish Premiership champions - with the highest offer reaching £3m. The Eredivisie side are sticking to their £6.5m price tag for the player with the likes of PSV Eindhoven also considering a move. But speaking ahead of the summer transfer window, the Denmark U21 cap stated he was "very open" to testing himself at the next level. He told TV 2: "Of course I have ambitions to try myself at a higher level, but when that is, time will tell. "I'm not just going to play a few good months and then take the next step. I can still develop even more here, so I'm not in a hurry to get away. "I'm very open to the next step. It all depends on what offers come in. ‌ "It's not like I have certain leagues that I just have to go to. But of course I'm aiming for as high a level as possible because it's the dream to play against the very best." The firm stance by the Eagles over a sale also marks a shift in the club's position from last season - when sporting director Paul Bosvelt opened the door to a departure. ‌ He told Tipsbladet: "He is a class player. This kid is going to reach the top in Holland and the international sub-top. "He can play football, he is fast and he can beat a player. These are the ingredients that modern football requires. "I would think that there is a very good chance that we will sell him in the summer transfer window." ‌ You can get all the news you need on our dedicated Rangers and Celtic pages, and sign up to our newsletters to make sure you never miss a beat throughout the season.
