Speaking during an exchange with the media this weekend, it therefore came as little surprise when Joan's name was put to the German international himself.
Ter Stegen, though, made use of the opportunity to reiterate that he remains fully intent on continuing his Camp Nou adventure next season:
'No one has spoken to me about this… but it doesn't concern me too much. I know that I will be in Barcelona next year. For me the situation has not changed. I'm very excited for next season.'
