Nations League semifinal between Germany and Portugal delayed because of hail shower
MUNICH — Stormy weather caused a 10-minute delay to the kickoff time for the Nations League semifinal between Germany and Portugal on Wednesday. Germany goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen and reserve keepers Oliver Baumann and Alexander Nübel had to run for cover from a heavy hail shower as they warmed up, and referee Slavko Vinčić checked the field afterward to make sure Wednesday's game could go ahead, albeit with the slight delay.

Barcelona star responds to club's links with Joan García
A current member of the goalkeeper ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has this weekend responded to the mounting speculation that Joan García could arrive at the club this summer. It is of course common knowledge across Spain at this point that Barcelona have set their sights firmly on Joan's signature. Advertisement Amid an ongoing search for reinforcements between the posts for next season, the Blaugrana have earmarked the Espanyol standout as the ideal profile for present and future alike. So much so that some sources have gone as far as to point towards an agreement between the parties as being all but imminent. One player for whom Joan's arrival could spell bad news at Barcelona comes in the form of Marc-André ter Stegen. Fresh off a season which saw him sidelined long-term through injury, and questioned on the level of his performances when on the pitch, Ter Stegen has been hotly tipped for a Blaugrana exit this summer, to make room for his Espanyol counterpart. Advertisement Speaking during an exchange with the media this weekend, it therefore came as little surprise when Joan's name was put to the German international himself. Ter Stegen, though, made use of the opportunity to reiterate that he remains fully intent on continuing his Camp Nou adventure next season: 'No one has spoken to me about this… but it doesn't concern me too much. I know that I will be in Barcelona next year. For me the situation has not changed. I'm very excited for next season.' Conor Laird – GSFN

Hansi Flick drawn on chances of Barcelona signing Joan García
Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick was on Sunday evening asked for his take on the mounting speculation pointing towards a Blaugrana swoop for Espanyol star Joan García. The name of goalkeeper Joan has of course emerged as a prominent one in the headlines in Catalunya's capital over the course of recent days. This comes amid the widespread understanding that, amid a search for reinforcements between the posts for next season, Barcelona have earmarked the 24-year-old as a leading target. Joan, for his part, is fresh off a spectacular season in the colours of Espanyol, which saw the Spaniard emerge as arguably La Liga's standout shot-stopper. Amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding the futures of all of Marc-André ter Stegen, Wojciech Szczęsny and Iñaki Peña, the subject of Joan's potential signing was in turn put to Hansi Flick on Sunday night. Fresh off his side bringing their campaign to a close with a 3-0 victory over Athletic Club, however, the German assured: 'He's great, but we have three great goalkeepers in the squad. I don't speak about players not in my team.' Conor Laird – GSFN
