Chelsea Have Set Their Sights On This Bundesliga Defender: Should Maresca Get Him On Board?

In a recent report, Fichajes revealed that Chelsea have set their sights on Bayer 04 Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie this summer. It has been stated that the Blues are eyeing a move to bring the Ecuadorian centre-back to Stamford Bridge in this transfer window. Hincapie's Impressive Form In German Football Hincapie enjoyed a good run of form at the German club in the previous campaign when he put in a series of impressive displays for them in the final third. The Ecuadorian talent took part in 45 matches for Bayer 04 Leverkusen last season, scoring three goals and earning two assists in multiple competitions. The 23-year-old gave a good account of himself on the defensive end of the field as he made 52 tackles, 40 blocks and 32 interceptions in the Bundesliga. He was even accurate with his ball distribution after completing 87.9% of his attempted passes in the German first division (stats via His current contract at the German club will run out in the summer of 2029. Hence, it won't be easy for Chelsea to get a deal done for him on the cheap in this transfer window. GUAYAQUIL, ECUADOR – JUNE 05: Piero Hincapié of Ecuador reacts during the FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifier match between Ecuador and Brazil at Estadio Monumental Isidro Romero Carbo on June 05, 2025 in Guayaquil, Ecuador. (Photo by) Should Chelsea Boss Enzo Maresca Get Hincapie On Board? Hincapie is a solid tackler of the ball and can scan the danger well to make some timely interceptions for his team inside his half. He usually clears his lines when the opposition are on the front foot. The Ecuadorian sensation excels at playing his way out from the back. Hincapie is primarily a centre-back but can also play as a left-back or as a left-sided wide player if needed. However, it remains to be seen whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League if the Blues manage to snap him up this month. We can expect Hincapie to add more bite and steel to Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca's defence. He has what it takes to challenge for a regular first-team spot at the West London club this season. At 23, Hincapie has his best years ahead of him, which makes him a good choice for the Blues to consider this summer. All in all, Maresca should think about going all out to get him on board before the end of this transfer period.

£40m Liverpool Star ‘Expected' to Join Bundesliga Side This Summer

Harvey Elliott's Future at Liverpool and the RB Leipzig Link Liverpool fans are bracing themselves for what could be a significant summer transfer decision regarding Harvey Elliott. Following the arrival of Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike, the club has opened the door for Elliott to leave, with the potential transfer fee expected to be in the region of £40-50m. With Arne Slot now entering his second season after a stunning Premier League debut campaign, the squad is evolving rapidly, and Elliott's future is at the forefront of speculation. RB Leipzig Emerges as a Leading Destination Dave Davis spoke to Trev Downey for Anfield Index and offered insight into the growing expectation that RB Leipzig could be Elliott's next destination. 'A lot of people expect it to happen. Leipzig have got the player on board too,' Davis explained. He further added, 'Spurs were in the mix but they have now pivoted away from him and part of that is because Elliott seem very much sold on the RB Leipzig project.' The German club, renowned for developing young talent, has seen the departure of Benjamin Sesko and is preparing for Xavi Simons to leave. This creates the perfect opening for Elliott to potentially become their next big star. Davis highlighted, 'Perhaps he can be their next big star,' pointing to Leipzig's ongoing commitment to nurturing young, elite players. Financial Considerations and Transfer Logistics Liverpool are reportedly considering offers in the region of £40m with a sell-on clause or £50m upfront. 'Whether it's £40m with a sell on clause or £50m upfront, they have the money to do the deal after their player sales,' Davis revealed. For a club balancing ambition and financial prudence, this fee range makes Elliott an attractive asset for both parties. It is also important to recognise the strategic implications of this move. With Elliott potentially departing, Liverpool would have the resources to further strengthen their squad, possibly reinvesting in areas aligned with Slot's tactical vision. Meanwhile, RB Leipzig can integrate Elliott into a team structured for European competition, providing him with the platform to continue developing at the highest level. Implications for Liverpool's Squad Dynamics Elliott's potential exit is not simply a transactional matter. His departure could reshape Liverpool's midfield options and offer opportunities for other emerging talents. The arrivals of Wirtz and Ekitike indicate Liverpool's intent to remain proactive in the transfer market while maintaining a blend of youth and experience. As Davis noted, the anticipation around Elliott's move is shared both across Europe and within Liverpool. 'The suspicions are across Europe and at Liverpool that Harvey Elliott will end up at RB Leipzig this summer,' he said. This consensus reflects the growing likelihood of the transfer and highlights the broader interest in Elliott's career trajectory. Liverpool supporters will watch closely over the summer, weighing the potential loss of a promising young talent against the club's evolving strategy under Arne Slot. Whether he moves to RB Leipzig or remains at Anfield, Harvey Elliott's next step promises to be a defining moment in his career.

Wild elephant tramples tourist, stripping off their pants, after ignorant selfie attempt

Skip the selfie safari. A tourist who attempted to snap a photo with an elephant was subsequently severely injured after being trampled and stripped — revealing his bare behind for all manner of beasts to bear witness. Authorities are calling it a reckless and dangerous stunt. The shocking incident, which occurred near a temple in Karnataka, India on Sunday, was captured on video by other visitors at the wildlife reserve. The footage has since gone viral online, sparking outrage and renewed warnings about human-animal interactions. Advertisement The tourist, identified as R. Basavaraju, had reportedly trespassed into a restricted forest area when he encountered the wild elephant. Witnesses say Basavaraju attempted to take a selfie with the animal, which was eating carrots by the roadside at the time. 3 The tourist, identified as R. Basavaraju, had reportedly trespassed into a restricted forest area when he encountered the wild elephant. NX According to one bystander, Daniel Osorio, the elephant was provoked by the sudden camera flash and immediately became agitated. The video shows the elephant raising its trunk and charging across a road— startling drivers as it sprinted after Basavaraju. Advertisement As the massive mammal gave chase, Basavaraju attempted to flee but fell face-first onto the tarmac of the busy road. The elephant caught up with him in seconds, stomping on him repeatedly in a terrifying moment that left onlookers horrified. At one point, the elephant's attack was so forceful it tore off the man's trousers and underwear — it was a bum-mer to see. After the violent episode, the elephant hovered over the injured tourist briefly before trotting away into the forest, giving the man a chance to escape. 3 As the massive mammal chased Basavaraju, he fell face-first onto the tarmac. When the elephant caught up with him, it stomped on him repeatedly, tearing off the man's trousers and underwear. NX Advertisement Miraculously, Basavaraju survived the attack but was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries. Following the incident, local forest authorities fined Basavaraju 25,000 Rupees (around $285) for trespassing and provoking wildlife. He was also ordered to record a video confession, in which he admitted his actions were a result of ignorance regarding wildlife safety rules. According to the Daily Mail, Osorio said, 'This incident is a strong reminder to follow the rules of the wildlife reserves and to let trained authorities, not people on foot, handle situations like this.' Advertisement The Forest Department issued a statement condemning such reckless behavior. India is home to over 30,000 wild elephants — more than any other country — and holds around 60% of the world's entire Asian elephant population. As tourism grows, so do conflicts between humans and wildlife, often due to disrespect for boundaries and safety rules. This is not the first time elephants have attacked tourists in India. Last year, a Russian woman was violently slammed to the ground by an elephant named Gouri at the Amer Fort in Jaipur. The same elephant had also severely injured a local shopkeeper months earlier. 3 Following the incident, local forest authorities fined Basavaraju 25,000 Rupees (around $285) for trespassing and provoking wildlife. NX While elephants are typically gentle, conservationists and animal welfare groups warn that provocation, mistreatment, or fear can cause them to lash out—especially in areas where they are used for entertainment or forced into unnatural settings. Basavaraju's case has reignited debates about whether provoking wild animals should be treated as a criminal offense, with growing calls for harsher penalties for tourists who put both themselves and animals at risk for the sake of viral content.
