In case of evacuation, residents are advised to leave immediately, taking only the essentials like their emergency kits, important documents, medication, and supplies for up to 72 hours.

"The situation is changing fast," said a local fire official, urging the community to remain vigilant.
As the flames grow, Sturgeon County is pulling out all the stops. Three aerial firefighting helicopters, along with ground crews, are battling the blaze from all angles. The Alberta wildfire resource branch has also sent additional support, and five neighboring counties have activated their emergency response plans to assist in the firefighting efforts. Despite these massive efforts, one home has already been lost in the fire.

Resident Sarah McAllister, who had to evacuate with her two children and pet dogs, shared with a local media, 'We've lived here for 15 years, and watching everything go up in smoke, it's devastating. But we know we're fortunate to be safe.'
No casualties have been reported yet, and several animals, including a herd of cattle, were successfully relocated from danger. Local officials have praised the coordination of first responders, who are doing everything possible to protect lives and property.
Emergency services are asking residents to stay away from the Redwater Recreation Area to give crews room to work. Roads to the area are closed, accessible only to local traffic and emergency vehicles.
'We've seen the strength of this community in the past, and we will get through this together,' said Mayor Alanna Hnatiw. 'Our priority is the safety of our residents, and we are working tirelessly with our neighboring counties to manage this evolving crisis.'

Gurgaon scorched, but not for long: Rain soon

Gurgaon: Hot and sultry weather conditions continued on Friday, with the city recording maximum temperature at 42.9 degrees Celsius, three notches higher than normal for this time of the year. Night wasn't of much relief. The city's minimum temperature was 30.7 degrees Celsius, 0.6°C higher than the previous day and a departure of 4°C from normal. While the city has just escaped a heatwave, other parts of the state haven't. "Till June 14, heatwave to severe heatwave conditions are expected to persist in Haryana," an IMD official said. According to IMD guidelines, a heatwave in plains is declared when the maximum temperature hits 45°C or more, or when it rises above 40°C with a departure of at least 4.5°C from normal. But relief may be ahead. "Light to moderate rain may occur at isolated places across the state between June 15 and 16, followed by thunderstorms and gusty winds from June 15 to 18," the official said, adding that a slight dip of 2–4°C in maximum temperatures is anticipated after June 15. Gurgaon is likely to witness maximum temperatures in the range of 36°C to 40°C from June 15 to 19, according to the Met department. The city's minimum temperature might remain between 27°C and 30°C during the same period. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Вот что поза во сне говорит о вашем характере! Удивительные Новости Undo The department has advised residents to avoid direct exposure to the sun, stay hydrated, and limit outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours. "Exposure to excessive heat can lead to a heat stroke, a potentially lethal condition, defined by a core body temperature greater than 104°F (40°C). Essentially, when the body's ability to regulate its temperature fails, it leads to a life-threatening event with potentially significant systemic effects. Early signs to look out for are extreme weakness, dizziness or fainting. One can also experience some level of confusion. Some severe symptoms include elevated heart rate, delirium, blurred vision, slurred speech and in some serious cases, seizures. "It is important to be aware of early warning signs of heat illnesses, so they can be dealt with as soon as possible. Children and the elderly face are more at risk. Individuals who already have health issues are much more vulnerable. This includes people with poorly managed blood pressure, diabetes, and heart, liver, or kidney diseases. It is extremely important to stay hydrated to prevent heat stroke," said Dr Amitabha Ghosh, consultant, internal medicine, Manipal Hospital, Gurgaon. Experts stressed that residents need to make sure their houses have adequate ventilation. To let in fresh air during cooler times, open your doors and windows. To keep the heat out during the day, keep shutters, blinds, or curtains closed, especially on windows that get direct sunlight. Consume foods that are easy to digest and high in water content, and steer clear of fatty, hot or heavy food. Taking showers or baths can help too. UP uses remote sensing to micro map floods for monsoon season

Lucknow: To understand and thereby prevent flooding during the monsoon season, the state govt, for the first time, has superimposed flood inundation maps generated through 20 years of remote sensing onto cadastral maps for micro-mapping of floods. The information was provided by relief commissioner Bhanu Chandra Goswami at a meeting to review flood preparedness in the state chaired by chief secretary Manoj Kumar Singh. The chief secretary said that, as per the weather department's forecast, the monsoon is expected to break over eastern UP by June 20 and western UP by June 25. In light of this, Singh said flood preparedness at the village level should be ensured based on micro-mapping. He said that officials and personnel should be assigned duties at the flood control room and all flood posts should be established by June 20. A mock drill at the tehsil level will be conducted on June 26, and all 44 sensitive districts have to participate in it. Singh directed officials to carry out inspections and repair work of flood-prone villages and embankments by June 20. The sites for establishing flood shelters should be identified immediately, and adequate boats and other necessary resources should be pre-identified. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Pinga-Pinga e HBP? He further said that inlets and outlets of Amrit Sarovars should be cleaned, encroachments removed, and catchment areas improved. The emphasis was also placed on increasing awareness of water conservation under the 'Catch the Rain' campaign. The relief commissioner informed the chief secretary that 44 districts, 118 tehsils, 2,500 villages, and 5,600 hamlets in the state are flood-sensitive. Pre-deployment of rescue forces at the tehsil level was done for flood rescue, with 48 teams of 17 flood companies of PAC, 15 teams of SDRF, and 11 teams of NDRF pre-deployed in 74 highly sensitive tehsils. "Over 10,000 trained disaster friends will assist in search and rescue operations. For flood management, 18 highly sensitive districts have been allocated 50 lakh each, 12 sensitive districts 25 lakh each, and 14 generally sensitive districts 10 lakh each," he said. A significant number of roads leading to various tourist attractions in the Unesco World Heritage site of Hampi are inundated with water. Deputy commissioner MS Diwakar said that the district received 22.6 mm of rainfall, exceeding normal levels by 55% in the initial 12 days of June, leading to an orange alert declaration.
