Millie Mackintosh Discusses The Inspiration Behind Her Latest Haircut
'The brief was Sienna Miller,' says Millie Mackintosh of her latest hair revamp, 'my daughter was about to start school, I had moved house, I felt like I was in the middle of a really transitional time in my life, it was the right moment.' Mackintosh, known for her long, dark honey hair, went for the chop last summer and followed it up with a bright blonde makeover courtesy of Harriet Muldoon at Larry King the following November, 'this is the blondest I have been since I was a teenager.'
Mackintosh is big on haircare and it's healthy a preoccupation that led, recently, to a partnership with Pantene. 'I have used Pantene since I was a teenager,' remembers Mackintosh, 'nowadays I really appreciate all the research and expert-led science that goes into their product development.' She's a big fan of that iconic Pro-V Formula, 'it's all about repairing the hair - mine goes through a lot when it comes to heat styling and colouring and since becoming a mum, I have found that I have much less time to set about undoing all that damage, I need products that work quickly and efficiently and I know that I can rely on Pantene to deliver.' And Mackintonsh's haircare regimen goes way beyond shampoo and conditioner. 'I take collagen supplements to help support my haircare routine. I recently tried a new treatment, Salmon Stem Cells, which is injected into the scalp promoting, over time, new hair growth and improved scalp health.'
Scalp health is important to Mackintosh too. 'Health in general really, and that includes skin health, scalp health, the lot,' she says, 'when I was younger I was more concerned with things looking good, now I need to know that they're healthy as well - I have always invested in my hair but as I got into my late 20's I started to understand that hair scalp health is just as important, so I incorporated more science backed products.'

We're talking via a video link and Mackintosh is visibly glowing, fresh from a holiday in the Maldives. Absolute paradise as far as getaways are concerned, but when it comes to hair - especially dyed blonde hair - the combination sun, sea and saltwater can often prove a nightmare. How did she keep her lengths in check? 'I like to protect my hair in the sun as much as I do my skin,' she says, 'but sometimes when you're running around after little ones, in and out of the pool, your gets pushed further down the list, so a multi-tasking product is always good to pack. The Pantene Molecular Bond Repair Miracle Cream, £15, is a 5-in-1 leave-in, perfect after a day in the sun, I keep it in my beach bag, apply it on-the-go and let it work its magic.'
With a book launch, long-haul holiday en famille and a house renovation in the works, how does Mackintosh avoid burnout? She has a few tricks up her sleeve. 'Firstly, don't give yourself a hard time about trying to get everything done,' she says, 'for every one thing you tick off your list, there will be three more that appear. For me, simplifying my routine and being strategic about where I put things made a huge difference. Simply by making my bedside table the beauty, vitamin, wellness station, means that I have everything to hand at night and first thing in the morning. I tend to be an early riser and love having 30 minutes to myself most mornings, whilst everyone is still sleeping. 5.30AM starts aren't for everyone but for me it's the only time when both my mind and the house are quiet. Whether it be meditating, listen to a podcast whilst unloading the dishwasher or simply just enjoying a coffee while the sun comes up, it all feeds the soul_._' 1.

Popular Elemis cleansing balm alternative is just as good and costs £22 less
Elemis' Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm has taken over 'Beauty-Tok,' but some fans have shared their dismay at the hefty price tag, but I tried a great alternative - and it's nearly half the price If you're a lover of makeup like me, and cannot help but romanticise the boring corporate sludge with a fun makeup look and 'siren-core' outfit - that's HR appropriate - then you'll know how important a quality daily cleanser can be. Especially with the rise of pollution, the dirt of public transport and harsh water, our skin seems to be fighting its hardest to remain a blemish and spot-free zone. So when the Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm caused a viral wave through the beauty community, I had to see what the fuss was about. Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm - key benefits New to London, and religiously budget-friendly, my means of trying the £49 cleanser was to nab some in the bathroom I share with my sister. Totally illegal by our terms but I was tired of my skin breaking out. Promising to be the "ultimate cleansing experience," the award-winning product advertises itself as "three indulgent textures in one". Beginning as a solid similar to hard coconut oil, the balm then melts upon contact with your skin, working through the grime and makeup of the day. Satisfyingly, the cleanser morphs into a creamy facewash once water is added, resulting in a thorough cleanse that saves you several cotton pads and a quarter of your micellar water. Perfect for long-wear looks, I believed this miracle balm was my one-and-only saviour - but my bank account disagreed. Never the one to experiment with new products - which my Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation can testify too - the only option was to lie in secret wait for my sister to source a new cleanser to try. The results of her consumerism paid off when she bought home a new cleansing balm that was just as good and £22 cheaper. Help us improve our content by completing the survey below. We'd love to hear from you! Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm - key benefits Clinique is a well-known brand often seen in our mothers' cupboards, where we assume its products aren't for us. However, Clinique's loyal fanbase has begun to include Gen Z, who entered via the Black Honey lip balm gateway. Named the second-best cleansing balm, Clinique's Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm scored 94/100 by Good Housekeeping, the Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm has been praised for it's identical results to the Elemis' viral hit, and it's surprisingly affordable. The balm is currently £26.95 thanks to a 21% off sale at LookFantastic. Usually £34, you can now bag the cleanser for £7 less. Alternatively, you can save £11 on the product by shopping at Allbeauty, who sells the cleanser for £22.95. So does Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm Compared to the Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm, which costs £49 for 100g, the Clinique alternative is almost half the price for the same amount at £26.95, so you're saving £22. Having tried both, Clinique is just as gentle and able to break down layers of makeup with one wash. With an oily base, the cleanser is great at washing off stubborn mascara, activating with water into a slight cream-cleanser, and does not strip your skin of any moisture. Emily from Cardiff wrote on Clinique's website: "This balm is the best cleansing balm! I have highly sensitive skin and suffer from dermatitis at times and this product this never causes any flare ups or disturbances. "Despite other reviews saying its smells greasy it most certainly doesn't, it's just fragrance free which should always be seen as a bonus. It's more on the expensive side however will say lasts about 4/5 months if used every single day. 10/10". I personally prefer Clinique as a little goes a long way – having found more of the Elemis product was needed per wash.

Woman's 'magic' 10-minute solution banishes patio black spots
Patio black spots are a type of lichen that can be difficult to remove, but one woman has shared a 10-minute solution that she claims is 'like magic' and 'the only thing that works' Patio black spots, those annoying types of lichen that embed themselves firmly into hard surfaces, are notoriously trickier to remove than your average patio moss and algae. These stubborn stains often laugh in the face of intensive pressure washing, leading many despairing homeowners to question if there's a solution that can truly tackle them head-on. Thankfully, green-fingered individuals have flocked to the Mrs Hinch Gardening Tips Facebook group to spill their tried-and-true secrets for banishing these blemishes. Top of the list is the use of sodium hypochlorite, a powerful concoction known for its lichen-slaying prowess by eliminating the organisms behind those unsightly black spots. Cassandra chimed in with her success story: "Sodium hypochlorite cleared mine. Sprayed it all over my patio, left it half an hour then just rinsed off. Leave longer if you prefer." Meanwhile, David Simkins offered his two cents: "Sodium hypochlorite from eBay. Just brush on and rinse off after an hour. It will kill any weeds too." Adding to the chorus, Charlotte Lodge shared her own positive experience: "Sodium hypochlorite worked so well for me to get the black spots off." For those eager to try it out, sodium hypochlorite is up for grabs at £21.50 on Amazon or available for £30 from Alliance Online, reports the Express. Yet, amid the praise, one gardener posed a note of caution, suggesting that sodium hypochlorite doesn't completely eliminate black spots but rather diminishes their appearance. Shannon Booker clarified her stance: "Sodium hypochlorite is undiluted bleach which is really good at cleaning any paving. "I have used it past and present but it doesn't remove black spots it just fades it. It is a fungus embedded and grows I have it on Indian stone. "This year I have used the Pro-Kleen black spot remover and the stains have all gone now." Other green-fingered enthusiasts have also sung praises for this product. Jess Gwyen remarked: "Pro-Kleen black spot destroyer it's really good. "Sprayed my slabs and within 10 minutes the black spots had gone. It really works like magic." Fiona Stewart commented: "The Pro-Kleen black spot remover is the only thing that works to get the black spots off. Just had mine delivered." The Pro-Kleen Ultimate Black Destroyer is available on Amazon for £29.95, with customers noting its "very effective" nature and how their patios "look like new" after use. However, reviews are varied regarding the effectiveness on black spots and overall value. Households can also find the Pro-Kleen Ultimate Black Destroyer at B&Q and OnBuy for £29.95.
