On Teen Vogue, Sophia Laforteza says, 'I want to be somebody who will never hide the fact that Im Filipino'
Katseye is on the cover of Teen Vogue, and Filipino member Sophia Laforteza just repped us hard. "I want to be somebody who will never hide the fact that I'm Filipino," the 22-year-old told Teen Vogue, adding she wants t one "loud about it." "It means a lot when somebody embraces their culture, especially their Philippine culture and heritage." She gave nods to Fil-am performers Vanessa Hudgens, Nicole Scherzinger, and Olivia Rodrigo as her influences, but none more than her mom, the theater actress Carla Guevara-Laforteza, who would take Sophia along during rehearsals. "I would just sit there and observe. She trained me to a visual learner," the Katseye member said of her mom. The magazine put the spotlight on each of the six members of Katseye, who are all winners of the survival show, 'The Debut: Dream Academy." The girl group is now managed by HYBE Labels and Geffen Records, who is about to drop an EP "Beautiful Chaos" in June. Katseye was in the Philippines last September, where they performed on "It's Showtime," met fans at a showcase, and held a media conference. At the sidelines of the event, Carla said she never expected all this for Sophia. "For Sophia to be a superstar is more than — naiiyak ako! Nakakaiyak tsaka nakaka-proud talaga kasi she did it all on her own. Hindi nga nagpaalam," the theater actress said. Read the rest of Katseye interview on Teen Vogue. — LA, GMA Integrated News

Barbie Forteza, Kyline Alcantara, co-stars give glimpse into ‘Beauty Empire' characters
Barbie Forteza, Kyline Alcantara, and their co-stars gave their fans a sneak peek into their characters in 'Beauty Empire' as well as the dramatic narratives behind them and their world. According to Aubrey Carampel's report in '24 Oras' Friday, the upcoming series will follow Barbie and Kyline's characters, Noreen and Shari, who are competitors in the beauty industry. 'Ang istorya ho namin ay punong-puno ng puso at pagmamahal sa pamilya with fashion. And beauty at its core, we will tackle murder mystery, love for family, revenge,' Barbie said. 'I approach it with a combination of my personal life and the character's experiences. 'Yung heartbreak or 'yung mga experience sa buhay eh makakadagdag din naman sa pag-atake sa isang character,' Kyline said. Joining the cast are Ruffa Gutierrez as Velma, Shari's mentor, and Sam Concepcion as Migoy, Noreen's childhood friend. 'Velma is, you know, she's a very ambitious and powerful woman, and yet, behind that, she's very soft. Nagmahal, nagkaroon siya ng heartbreak. And I think me, as Ruffa, marami na rin akong heartbreak na pinagdaanan sa buhay ko,' Ruffa said. 'It's been a really great experience being here, working with the team, and working with such generous and really talented actors,' Sam said. The series will also star Chai Fonacier as Kriselda, Velma's trusted assistant, and Aaron Maniego as Silvester, Shari's assistant. 'She's somebody that I wish I had her focus and her grit. Makalat ito eh,' Chai said. 'I'm just so grateful for my co-actors na sobrang gina-guide nila ako every step of the way and napakabait nila sa akin,' Aaron said. "Beauty Empire" is produced by GMA Public Affairs, based on the original concept by CreaZion Studios. It dives deep into the intense rivalries and high-stakes drama among powerful women as they navigate the beauty industry driven by ambition, revenge, and power. The cast also includes Gloria Diaz, Sid Lucero, and South Korean actor Choi Bo Min.
