Salford: Four more charged, further arrests over disorder
A further four people have been charged following scenes of violent disorder that broke out in Salford. A total of eight people have now been charged in connection of the disturnance, which saw 50 to 60 people gathering in the city's Lower Broughton Road at about 13:30 BST on Wednesday.Cars were stolen and set on fire, motorbikes were being ridden erratically and bricks were thrown at officers, while wheelie bins and cars were used to block off the road.Greater Manchester Police had already charged three people - including a 16-year-old girl - with offences including assaulting police being drunk and disorderly and possessing a weapon.
A further four men have now also been charged, with the number of people arrested for questioning now totalling 10. Steven Fielding, 20, of Partington, has been charged with violence disorder and criminal damage while Michael Ennis, 38, of Eccles, was charged with violent disorder, possession of a Class B drug and two counts of criminal damage. Both have been remanded in custody.Kwami Sibthorpe-Walsh, 20, of Swinton, has been charged charged with breaching a public order and Nico Collins, 27, of Failsworth, has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon and possession of a Class C drug. Both have been bailed. Det Ch Insp Helen Bagnall said officers were still patrolling the area. Anyone with information or footage of the incident has been urged to contact police.

London Gateway cocaine worth £96m seized in 'one of largest' busts
Cocaine with a street value of almost £100m has been seized by Border Force officers in "one of the largest drugs busts of the past decade".The shipment was intercepted earlier this month on a container vessel arriving at London Gateway port from Force officials and staff at the port in Stanford-le-Hope, Essex, had to move 37 large containers to locate the 2.4-tonne an estimated £96m, it was the sixth largest cocaine seizure since records began, the Home Office said. Specialist maritime officers intercepted the drugs after an "intelligence-led operation".Border Force said in a statement: "The interception strikes a significant financial and operational blow against the organised crime groups behind its importation and is an example of an intelligence driven outcome to disrupt criminal supply chains."Charlie Eastaugh, the organisation's maritime director, said: "This seizure - one of the largest of its kind - is just one example of how dedicated Border Force maritime officers remain one step ahead of the criminal gangs who threaten our security."Our message to these criminals is clear. More than ever before, we are using intelligence and international law enforcement co-operation to disrupt and dismantle your operations."He added there were also training programmes across Latin America to help prevent the drugs entering British shores. Government minister Seema Malhotra, said: "Drugs gangs trying to import illegal substances into the UK are a blight on society and we will leave no stone left unturned in our pursuit of organised crime gangs inflicting addiction, misery and death upon Britain's communities." Plea for Lake District paddleboarders to contact police
Three paddleboarders who are believed to have got into difficulty in the Lake District have been urged to contact Mountain Rescue Team (KMRT) said it was alerted on Friday evening about three people on "comprehensive searches" by KMRT, police, Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service and the ambulance service, there were no signs of anybody in distress. KMRT appealed for anyone who knew about a group of three people on the lake, or were on it themselves as a trio, to contact Cumbria Police to confirm their safe return. Kneecap to take to Glastonbury stage today despite Keir Starmer calling for them to be axed after terror charge
KNEECAP are set to perform at Glastonbury today despite calls for the Irish hip hop trio to be banned. Frontman Liam Og O hAnnaidh was charged under the Terrorism Act after allegedly displaying a flag in support of proscribed terrorist group Hezbollah while saying "up Hamas, up Hezbollah" during a gig in November. 5 5 Last week the rapper - who performs under the name Mo Chara - and bandmates Naoise O Caireallain and JJ O Dochartaigh were mobbed by hundreds of fans outside Westminster Magistrates' Court. He was released on unconditional bail - and is due at the same court on August 20 for the next hearing. Kneecap are due on the Somerset festival's West Holts Stage at 4pm on Saturday. Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said it is "not appropriate" for the group to perform at the festival, which started on Thursday.
