Prahlad Joshi slams Tejashwi Yadav for his remarks against PM Modi
Patna: Union Minister Prahlad Joshi on Monday criticised Bihar Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav for his remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling him "baseless" and "irresponsible."
Joshi was speaking to the media after inaugurating a steel grain silo in Pasraha, Gogri block of Khagaria district.
The facility, with a storage capacity of 50,000 metric tonnes, aims to strengthen food security infrastructure in the region.
The inauguration event was also attended by Bihar Minister Lesy Singh and local MP Rajesh Kumar.
Responding to Tejashwi Yadav's recent jibe in which he had labelled PM Modi as a 'liar', 'pickpocket', and 'big artist', Joshi said: 'How can someone who has lying embedded in his DNA accuse the Prime Minister of lying? It is the Modi government that has actually delivered on the promises made to the poor.'
He further asserted that poverty in India has significantly reduced under PM Modi's leadership, citing World Bank data.
'From the Nehru era to Rahul Gandhi, Congress only gave slogans like 'Garibi Hatao'. But under PM Modi, the percentage of people living below the poverty line has dropped from 25 per cent to 5 per cent,' he said.
Tejashwi Yadav had also criticised the Prime Minister's recent rally in Siwan, alleging misuse of public funds.
'PM Modi has conducted more than 200 rallies in Bihar since 2014, each costing around Rs 100 crore. It's all coming from taxpayers' money,' Tejashwi claimed in his earlier remarks.
'We do not want a pickpocket Prime Minister. The Prime Minister gives speeches written on a teleprompter. He has no real understanding of Bihar's ground situation,' Yadav earlier said on June 20.
Joshi rejected this allegation, emphasising that public outreach is part of democratic accountability and that such claims were politically motivated.

Siddaramaiah slams Centre, seeks fair share for Karnataka
Raichur, June 23 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday urged the central government to ensure a fair allocation of funds to the state under the 16th Finance Commission, claiming Karnataka lost nearly Rs 80,000 crore in devolution when compared to the 14th Finance Commission period. Addressing reporters in Raichur, Siddaramaiah accused BJP MPs from the state of "failing" to defend Karnataka's fiscal interests, stating, 'Not a single BJP MP has spoken against this injustice.' The CM specifically targeted Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, accusing him of not securing the release of Rs 11,495 crore recommended as a special grant for Karnataka. 'Despite his closeness to the Prime Minister, he has failed the state. He has no moral right to speak on Karnataka's welfare,' Siddaramaiah charged. Reiterating Karnataka's long-standing demand for a special grant for the development of the Kalyana Karnataka region, Siddaramaiah said the state government already spends Rs 5,000 crore annually for the area's development, and urged the Centre to contribute its share. He also said the state would consider setting up a dedicated ministry for the region to bolster progress. Responding to various issues, the Chief Minister acknowledged Minister HK Patil's suggestion to set up a special court to expedite illegal mining cases and recover pending dues. Recalling his past efforts, Siddaramaiah cited his role in raising the issue in the Assembly and participating in the Bellary padayatra, and noted that the Santosh Hegde Lokayukta report still awaits adequate follow-up. Siddaramaiah also addressed concerns from Congress MLA Raju Kage about development deficits in Kagwad, assuring that he would hold discussions with the legislator and prioritise special grants for constituencies in need. On allegations by MLA Belur Gopalakrishna regarding irregularities in housing schemes, he said the government would seek more information, and added that MLA B.R. Patil is scheduled to meet him on June 25 to discuss matters concerning the Housing Department. Meanwhile, in Bengaluru, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar told reporters that both the Chief Minister and the Housing Minister would issue a detailed clarification over BR Patil's allegations of corruption in the Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation. Kanishka bombing 1985 stresses need for zero tolerance to terrorism: EAM Jaishankar
The 40th anniversary of the bombing of Air India's Kanishka aircraft is a moment to reiterate that there should be zero tolerance for terrorism, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said on Monday (June 24, 2025). His remarks coincided with the memorial event that was organised jointly on the Irish coast of the Atlantic Ocean, where Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri participated and said India had been a victim of terrorism over decades, adding it was a 'shared responsibility' of the world community to fight 'dangerous ideologies'. 'On the 40th anniversary of Air India 182 'Kanishka' bombing, we honour the memory of the 329 lives lost in one of the worst acts of terrorism. A stark reminder of why the world must show zero tolerance towards terrorism and violent extremism,' said Mr. Jaishankar, paying tribute to the victims of the Kanishka bombing who came from India, Canada, Ireland and other countries. Mr. Puri led the Indian team to Cork, Ireland where a solemn ceremony was held at Ahakista, to remember those who perished in the terror bombing that took place on June 23, 1985. 'This tragedy was a deliberate, heinous attack carried out by extremist elements associated with a fringe and radical movement which sought to weaken India through terror,' said Mr. Puri, who added the tragedy had brought India and Ireland closer 'Terrorism and extremism remain very real even today. For decades, India has suffered the scourge of terrorism. Time and again, our people have endured bombings, assassinations and other atrocities — from Jammu and Kashmir to Punjab to Mumbai,' said Mr. Puri, reminding that India experienced mass casualty terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025. He also recollected his visits to the Kanishka memorials in Toronto, Canada and said the grief of the families of the victims had not vanished. 'This memorial site stands testimony to the tragedy of that crash on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean not far from here. Out of the ruins of a tragedy, the unique friendship between the Irish and the Indian people was deepened,' said Mr. Puri, thanking Ireland for memorialising Air India 182 tragedy. He described Kanishka bombing as a 'stain on humanity'.

Mughal Road gets tunnel, Omar Abdullah says ‘major achievement of my govt'
SRINAGAR: The Union government's approval on Monday of 19 major road and tunnel projects worth Rs 10,637 crore, including a key tunnel on the historical Mughal Road linking Shopian, in the Kashmir Valley, with Poonch in Jammu, has caused widespread excitement across Kashmir. The proposed Peer Ki Gali tunnel, which will turn the 84-km Mughal Road into an all-weather road providing a crucial alternative to the Srinagar-Jammu national highway, has excited political leaders across the board. 'It is a major achievement of my government,' Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah said. Construction of a modern road on the old Mughal Road began in the 1970s, during the government of Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, but the project saw little progress. It was revived in 2003 under Mufti Mohammad Sayeed's government, and by 2009 traffic was allowed during the tenure of Omar Abdullah. Though the road is now operational, it remains open only during summer as heavy snowfall on the key stretches of Peer Ki Gali and Bafliaz forces its closure in winter. Finally, these major projects have been sanctioned,' CM Omar Abdullah told TOI. 'The tunnel on the Mughal Road is of crucial importance as it will provide year-round connectivity between Kashmir and Jammu. It holds both strategic and commercial value.' Omar said that ever since he first drove on the Mughal Road in 2009, his party and his government have been advocating for construction of a tunnel. 'We've been pursuing this for years, and I am glad it has finally received approval,' he said. Among the sanctioned projects is also the Sadhana Tunnel, which will connect Kupwara with the border region of Karnah, at an estimated cost of Rs 3,330 crore. Omar said he will also pursue a tunnel project for Gurez Valley in north Kashmir and intends to raise the matter with the Union government. The Mughal Road also holds historical significance. It was used by Mughal emperors in the 16th century to enter Kashmir. Emperor Akbar took this route to conquer the region in 1586, and his son, Jahangir, is believed to have died near Rajouri while returning from Kashmir. In a separate statement issued in Srinagar, both LG Manoj Sinha and Omar thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari for approving these major projects. National Conference was quick to take credit, stating that 'under the leadership of J&K CM Omar Abdullah our government has successfully convinced government of India to take up key infrastructure projects like the Mughal Road tunnel and the tunnel to Tangdhar.' A senior NC politician said the projects were sanctioned because J&K's elected government pursued them with the Union government.
