Looking for an ultra-cheap Android phone that covers all the basics without unnecessary fluff? The Moto G 5G (2024) might be just what you're looking for. This device features a 120Hz display, 5G support, and decent battery life — all for just under $140. That's 30% off its original price at Amazon!Right off the bat, we should note that this isn't the first time we've come across such low prices for this handset. Still, it's a pretty good deal you wouldn't want to ignore, especially if you missed out on previous discounts. In case you're wondering, the newer Moto G (2025) is also on sale for 13% off right now. That brings the 2025 device to about $175.This Motorola phone isn't the best budget model, but users who don't need the extra bells and whistles will find it a very decent everyday option. It features a 6.6-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate, providing solid visuals for the price. If you're after stunning OLED colors, the Galaxy A16 will probably be the better choice for you, so keep that in mind.Performance-wise, the Android device handles light tasks quite well. It offers smooth performance and reliable connectivity — and that alone should be enough for users on a budget. Still, as we pointed out in our Moto G 5G (2024) review, it doesn't quite excel on the benchmark tests. What about the camera? It packs a 50MP primary camera and delivers mostly decent photos during the day. Nighttime photography isn't a strong suit here, though.Factor in the Dolby Atmos-enhanced audio, the 5,000mAh battery, and the pleasant Android experience with some handy gestures and Moto Actions, and you've got a well-rounded device. If it checks all your boxes at a price you really like, this is your chance to buy it for 30% off on Amazon.

Find out how long your new Pixel 10 series phone can run on a single charge
The Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold will be unveiled on August 20th. In 2021, Google relaunched the Pixel as a true iPhone challenger, starting with the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. Issues with the modem and fingerprint sensor were among the problems that many Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro owners (like yours truly) had to face. In addition, the OG Tensor application processor (AP) was more Samsung Exynos than Google. Even though the Pixel 6 Pro featured a nice-sized 5000 mAh battery (for that time), matching the capacity of other flagship models, users still had to deal with less than all-day power and often had to charge the phone during the afternoon or early evening. Since then, Google has addressed the issues that had Pixel 6 users moving to the Samsung Galaxy S Ultra model or the iPhone Pro Max. EU Regulatory labels for the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL. | Image credit-YTechB The Pixel 7 series introduced an improved 5G modem, and the Pixel 9 replaced the slower, less accurate optical fingerprint sensor with an ultrasonic biometric reader for faster, more accurate readings. The Tensor G5 AP for the Pixel 10 line will be the first chipset designed by Google from the ground up. Without having to rely on Samsung, Google was able to design the SoC to run exclusive Pixel features. Unlike previous Tensor APs, this one will be manufactured by TSMC instead of Samsung Foundry. As for the battery, the latest rumored capacities come from YTechB, who spotted regulatory labels from the EU. The labels grade each of the phones from "A" to "G", with the grades based on things like how easy the phone is to repair, how durable the device is, and other factors. The Pixel 10 received a "B" and has a rated battery capacity of 4835 mAh. That would be a 6% hike from the Pixel 9 's 4558 mAh. However, the difference in the runtime amounts to just 11 seconds from 49:12 to 49:23. The Pixel 10 Pro scored a grade "A" rating, sporting a battery rated at 4707 mAh compared to the Pixel 9 Pro 's 4558 mAh. That works out to a small 3.3% hike. The runtime comes to 51:09, up from the Pixel 9 Pro 's 50:44. And the Pixel 10 Pro XL scored a "B" rating with a rated battery of 5078 mAh, up 2.8% from the Pixel 9 Pro XL's 4942 mAh cell. Despite the increased capacity, the runtime of the Pixel 10 Pro XL dropped from its predecessor's 49:30 to 48:38. As part of the testing of these phones, the batteries went through 1,000 cycles and still had a large percentage of their original capacity available. Additionally, the phones went through 270 drop tests without any damage to the batteries. Each model has a rating of IP68, making them impervious to dust. It also means that each phone can be submerged in over 1 meter of fresh water for no longer than 30 minutes. Each Pixel 10 phone will receive seven years of Android updates. The Pixel, in general, has been gaining traction, and part of the reason why is Apple's failed rollout of Apple Intelligence. Some of the new AI-powered capabilities for the iPhone include one that Apple has been heavily promoting. Called "Clean Up," this feature allows the user to remove distracting items from a photo and was actually one of the key AI features on the Pixel 6 series, where it was known as the Magic Eraser. Apple was also late with the Hold Assist, which will debut on iOS 26 (although many got to use it with the iOS 26 Beta). This was another fabulous feature I used often with the Pixel 6 Pro . Pixel calls it Hold for Me, and when you're on hold, Google Assistant monitors the call, allowing you to put the phone down and attend to other things. When the person on the other end of the call returns, you are alerted so you can return to your conversation. What new AI features will the Pixel 10 series bring? It won't be long until we find out.

Apple makes iOS 26 seem faster by tweaking animations
Apple is currently testing iOS 26, which it's expected to release next month along with the iPhone 17 family. The new OS version comes with tweaked animations, and this makes the entire experience feel much faster. Interestingly, the actual change in animation timing is quite small - around 150 milliseconds quicker. But there is a much bigger difference in the pacing, and that affects how fast it feels. This, in turn, makes the entire OS feel faster despite the fact that nothing has changed performance-wise. If you're a die-hard Android fan you've probably scoffed a few times reading this - a lot of skins let you tweak the animations (which are generally faster than Apple's to begin with), and you can go a step further through Developer Options if you're careful not to touch anything else, making all animations shorter by default at the OS level. This does in fact make everything feel faster, even though nothing changed aside from the animations, so Apple is clearly onto something here, it's just funny how long it takes the Cupertino company sometimes to "discover" such "revolutionary" tweaks that have been available from its competitors for years. Google Photos might get a new way to show if images were made or edited with AI
The discovery was made in version 7.41 of the app, where code references a feature called "threepio." It would add a new "How was this made" section to the photo details view. It would involve swiping up on a photo or video, where users could see details about how it was created or edited. The labels it might include are: "Media created with AI" "Edited with AI tools" "Edited with multiple AI tools" "Edited with non-AI tools" "Media captured with a camera without software adjustments" It may also detect when multiple editing tools were used or when several images were combined. Additionally, if the file's edit history is missing or has been changed, Google Photos would show an error message instead. According to the source, this functionality appears to be powered by Content Credentials, a system that attaches a persistent history of edits to a file. That information stays with the media even when shared, unless it's removed. The idea isn't entirely new for Google. The company has already developed SynthID, a DeepMind project that invisibly watermarks AI-generated images. While it's unclear if SynthID is being used here, both approaches aim to give people more context about the origins of visual content. Examples of realistic images created via Imagen 3, a Google image generation tool. | Image credit — Google Other companies have been working on similar solutions. Adobe's Content Authenticity Initiative tracks edits in image metadata, while Meta has committed to labeling AI-generated images across Facebook and Instagram. Together, these projects show that the tech industry sees transparency around AI edits as increasingly important. If Google releases this feature with Google Photos, it could be a useful tool for quickly checking whether photos and videos are authentic. While the irony is not lost on me that this is the same company that developed tools to generate very realistic AI images and videos, I can see how having this could be valuable in areas like journalism, education, and online sales, where trust matters. Additionally, including such a tool in one of the most widely used photo apps could set an example that others follow.
