Manchester United vs Aston Villa Premier League live time and streaming
Still in the race for a top-five finish, Villa must outperform Newcastle or Chelsea to keep their Champions League hopes alive.

Manchester United will wrap up their turbulent 2024-25 season with a Premier League clash against Aston Villa at Old Trafford on Sunday. Still reeling from a narrow 1-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final, United's hopes of European football next season have been dashed for only the second time in 35 years.
Despite dominating possession midweek, United once again lacked bite in attack. With 18 defeats in 37 league games—nine of them at home—the Red Devils are enduring their worst top-flight campaign since their 1973-74 relegation season. They sit 16th with a record-low 39 points, having failed to win any of their last eight league matches.
Manager Ruben Amorim, under intense scrutiny, has pledged to step aside if fans or the board lose faith, though he remains confident in his vision.
Aston Villa, meanwhile, come into the fixture after a strong 2-0 win over Tottenham and are unbeaten in their last three league outings. Still in the race for a top-five finish, Villa must outperform Newcastle or Chelsea to keep their Champions League hopes alive.
Lisandro Martinez is still unavailable for Manchester United due to his ongoing knee injury, while fellow defender Matthijs de Ligt is doubtful, having missed the last four games with a similar issue.
However, the Red Devils received a boost as Leny Yoro, Diogo Dalot, Joshua Zirkzee, and Jonny Evans all returned from injury and were part of the squad for the Europa League final, putting them in contention for Sunday's Premier League clash.
It's unclear how much manager Ruben Amorim will shuffle his lineup, but players like Manuel Ugarte, Kobbie Mainoo, and Alejandro Garnacho—whose future at the club remains uncertain—will be eager to earn a place in the starting XI.
Aston Villa team news
For Aston Villa, Marcus Rashford is sidelined with a hamstring injury and is also ineligible to play against his parent club. Meanwhile, Youri Tielemans—recently named Villa's Player of the Year—remains doubtful for Sunday's match after missing the last two games due to a calf injury.
On a positive note, Jacob Ramsey is back in contention after serving a one-match suspension and could be reinstated to the starting XI, potentially replacing either John McGinn or Marco Asensio.
In defence, Matty Cash and Ezri Konsa are expected to retain their spots. However, manager Unai Emery faces a decision over whether to continue with Pau Torres and Ian Maatsen at centre-back and left-back respectively or bring back Tyrone Mings and Lucas Digne. Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez—linked with a move to Saudi Arabia—is likely to start and may be making his final appearance for the club.
Manchester United vs Aston Villa starting 11 (probable)

Aston Villa starting 11: Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Torres, Digne; Kamara, Onana; Rogers, Asensio, McGinn; Watkins

India eyeing maximum points from Pro League to secure direct WC berth
Amstelveen: The Indian men's hockey team will look to produce its best and earn maximum points from the European leg of the FIH Pro League in a bid to secure a direct qualification to next year's World Cup. The next World Cup will be jointly hosted by Belgium and Netherlands. The Harmanpreet Singh-led side is currently placed third in the FIH Pro League standings with 15 points from eight matches, behind Belgium (16) and England (16). Good results in the upcoming eight matches of the European leg can propel India to the top, which means a direct berth in the World Cup. India played the home leg of the ongoing Pro League in Bhubaneswar earlier this year, where they raked up 15 points with five wins in eight games. In the European leg, first up for India is hosts Netherlands here on Saturday followed by the return leg match on June 9. The Indians will next play Argentina here on June 11 and 12, followed by matches against Australia (June 14, 15) and Belgium (June 21, 22). India will be led by talismanic dragflicker Harmanpreet, while midfield mainstay Hardik Singh will be his deputy. The Indians will take on Belgium at their home turf in Antwerp. Keeping the magnitude of the matches in mind, India have fielded an experienced 24-member squad for the leg. The Indian goal will be manned by Krishan Bahadur Pathak and Suraj Karkera, while the defence will be handled by the likes of Amit Rohidas, Harmanpreet, Jugraj Singh, Jarmanpreet Singh, Sanjay and Nilam Sanjeep Xess among others. The midfield will be led by former skipper Manpreet Singh with current vice-captain Hardik, Vivek Sagar Prasad, Nilakanta Sharma, Shamsher Singh, Raj Kumar Pal and Rajinder Singh also doing duty in the middle. India boast of a strong strike force in Gurjant Singh, Abhishek, Shilanand Lakra, Mandeep Singh, Lalait Kumar Upadhyay, Dilpreet Singh and Sukhjeet Singh. Chief coach Craig Fulton has opted for experience instead of trying out youngsters.

Australian media blast Spurs' sacking of Postecoglou as 'big mistake'
Australian media on Saturday blasted Tottenham's decision to sack home hero Ange Postecoglou as a "big mistake", saying he had consistently shown himself to be a winner. The Australian, one of the nation's most successful managerial exports, steered Spurs to their first European prize in 41 years and secured a place in next season's Champions League. But he also oversaw their worst domestic season since they were relegated from the top flight in 1976-77, which ultimately cost him his job. The Sydney Morning Herald branded chairman Daniel Levy's decision "cold-hearted" and one the club "will almost certainly live to regret, regardless of whether his replacement is a success or not". "There will now always be an unanswerable 'what if' about the possibilities that lay within a third season at Spurs for Postecoglou," it said. "And there appears to be no hope that whoever comes in next will get what he needs to satisfy Levy, who seems to be prioritising higher finishes on the Premier League table than the idea of actually winning things." In a column for The Australian newspaper, former Socceroo and West Ham star Robbie Slater branded Postecoglou's firing "a big mistake". "Levy has left himself in a really, really difficult position now. He's already not liked by the Spurs fans and now he's taking a massive gamble here," he wrote. "Ange had promised 'season three is always better than season two'. Good luck with that Spurs." Former Australia and Celtic boss Postecoglou was the fifth manager sacked by Levy in the past six years. Australian national broadcaster ABC was more measured in its criticism, noting that "in the cold light of day, Postecoglou was always going to be hard pressed to keep his job". But it also questioned why Spurs would get rid of a man who delivered what he said he would winning a trophy in his second season in charge. "He has shown himself to be a winner in every league he has had an extended run in, be it Scotland, Australia, Japan and now England," it said. "Sacking Postecoglou fits with Tottenham's recent reputation of throwing away promising situations and making life uncomfortable or even torturous for its supporters." mp/tym CELTIC PLC TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR
