Four-star cancels Georgia visit, takes trip to LSU instead
LSU football will host 2026 edge rusher Landon Barnes for a visit this weekend, according to a report from Rivals' Sam Spiegelman. The four-star prospect cancelled a trip to Georgia and replaced it with a trip to Baton Rouge.
Texas and SMU are considered the frontrunners for Barnes' commitment. However, it would appear that the Duncanville, TX native has an interest in LSU. All three schools made it into his top eight, along with Arizona State, Washington, Ohio State, and Georgia.
On3's Industry Rankings put Barnes at No. 19 among Texas prospects in the 2026 cycle. He is No. 19 at his position and No. 118 nationally. LSU has yet to earn a commitment from a defensive end this cycle, but it appears they're making a serious push for Barnes.
LSU's 2026 class is first in the SEC and second nationally to USC, despite getting a commitment from four-star offensive tackle Emanuel Tucker earlier this week. Barnes would be the eleventh addition for the group built on keeping the best Louisiana prospects at home while hitting on some of the region's top talents.
Duncanville is a Texas powerhouse, routinely producing top recruits. Barnes wouldn't be the first Duncanville product to join LSU -- its also where LSU running back Caden Durham played his high school ball.

NBA Commissioner: Dallas Mavericks winning draft lottery isn't reason for reform
The Dallas Mavericks won the 2025 NBA Draft Lottery, which caused some to suggest reform, pointing out that the lottery should be focusing on helping the worst teams in the league. Adam Silver was on FS1's 'Breakfast Ball' on Wednesday and explained why the lottery didn't need reform, saying it's to discourage tanking. 'We call it a 'Lottery,' and I think some people think it was a one-in-a-million chance that Dallas was going to win. Remember, the worst-performing team had a 14% chance at winning, which means there was an 86% chance they wouldn't get [the No. 1 pick]. Dallas had roughly a 2% chance, so the losingest team had a seven times better chance. Two percent is 2%; it's going to happen,' said Silver. Advertisement 'When people say, 'And therefore, the lottery is broken,' I have a different viewpoint, which the purpose of the Lottery is to disincentivize teams from tanking. Here, you had a team that was clearly trying, whatever people think of that [Luka Doncic trade], they were trying to win, then Kyrie [Irving] got injured, then Anthony Davis got injured, and so then they found themselves in the Lottery.' The Mavs will make only their second No. 1 overall selection in team history — the first was selecting Mark Aguirre in the 1981 draft — and are widely expected to pick Duke phenom Cooper Flagg. College World Series Schedule: Complete Saturday slate as LSU takes the field LSU baseball begins play in Omaha for the 2025 College World Series on Saturday. Inside Charles Schwab Stadium, the Tigers face a familiar opponent from their SEC schedule. LSU and Arkansas, the betting favorites to win the national championship, close out the first round of games on Saturday following two on Friday. UCLA and Murray State open the second day with an afternoon first pitch. The winners and losers of those matchups will face off early next week. The Tigers took the regular season series against Arkansas at Alex Box Stadium in late May but the Razorbacks are loaded with MLB talent. The game will certainly resemble a championship atmosphere with fans of both teams expected in droves.
