PETALING JAYA: The toilets at SMK Taman Sri Muda are being fixed, says Kota Kemuning assemblyman Preakas Sampunathan. Commenting following a viral social media post by a person claiming to be a 16-year-old student of the school, he said that the repair works will address water supply issues. The student tagged Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in the post urging action, as the toilets had no water for five to six months. 'I want to report my school toilets; there's no water for at least 5-6 months. It's so smelly I go back home to urinate,' the student wrote on Threads. She also claimed that menstruating female students had to go home as the school toilets were dirty and had no water. When contacted by The Star, Preakas said he had checked with the school. 'I was told the PIBG (Parent-Teacher Association) is repairing and the issue will be resolved by tomorrow (Aug 10),' he said. The school said there is water supply but the pressure is low. 'Further, the district education office inspected the toilets yesterday (Aug 8),' he added. In March, broken toilets at SK Long Jaafar in Kamunting, Perak were fixed within two days following a pupil's complaint to Anwar. The pupil told Anwar during his visit to the Ramadan bazaar in Kamunting that two toilets were broken and two were usable on March 14.

KOTA BHARU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will officiate the Ijtima' MADANI Ulama dan Guru Pondok Kelantan today. The event aims to strengthen the role of religious scholars and pondok teachers in preserving Islamic education. It will take place at Universiti Teknologi MARA Campus in Machang starting at 9.15 am. Later, Anwar will visit a padi farming project in the KADA area at Kampung Gemalai Baruh Alami. The village is known for its organic rice fields, cultivated without pesticides or chemical fertilisers. At 11.20 am, he will inspect the agro-ecotourism site before proceeding to other engagements. KOTA BHARU, Aug 9 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to open the 'Ijtima' MADANI Ulama dan Guru Pondok Kelantan' or gathering of Islamic religious scholars and pondok teachers, in addition to attending several other events on the last day of the 2025 MADANI Rakyat Programme (PMR) in Kelantan today. The Ijtima' or gathering serves as the main platform to strengthen the role of ulama (religious scholars) and pondok teachers in preserving religious education and pondok culture in the state. It was scheduled to begin at 9.15 am today at Universiti Teknologi MARA Campus in Machang. Later, at 11.20 am, the prime minister is scheduled to visit a padi planting project in the Kemubu Agricultural Development Authority (KADA) area at Kampung Gemalai Baruh Alami, near here. Kampung Gemalai is recognised as an agro-ecotourism destination and is notable for its organic rice fields, which are entirely free from pesticides and chemical fertilisers. After that, Anwar is scheduled to launch the Kelantan MADANI Wave, to be held at the Main Hall of Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital, Kubang Kerian, before concluding his programme in Kelantan today by closing the Kelantan PMR 2025.
