Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu vows smart governance, zero tolerance for criminal elements
Guntur: Emphasizing that robust law and order is essential for attracting investments, chief minister Chandrababu Naidu said his govt is committed to smart governance to deliver better public services.

Declaring zero tolerance for criminal elements, he affirmed that as long as he is at the helm, there is no place for such forces in Andhra Pradesh.
The CM made these remarks while inaugurating the AI-Police Hackathon organised by the state police department at a private engineering college on Friday. Interacting with IT experts, Naidu recalled that Hyderabad became one of the most livable cities due to his efforts to curb communal violence during his previous tenure as chief minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh.
"Hyderabad's transformation into an IT powerhouse with the highest per capita income in the country was made possible due to sustained investments in the sector, fostered by a peaceful environment. Andhra Pradesh will soon become an even bigger magnet for IT investments," Naidu stated.
He said that they have set their focus on elimination of criminal forces along with technology. "Technology helped catch the culprits in former MP Vivekananda Reddy murder case.
CBI's google-take out brought them to light. Our police too become smart to nail the real culprits of the crime. We can achieve zero crime rate with the help of AI in future," said chief minister. He said that it was unfortunate that the former chief minister was backing the rowdy-sheeters and criminal elements.
"We're committed to using both strict policing and advanced technology to root out criminal networks," he said, citing AI tools and CBI breakthroughs such as Google Takeout in cracking complex cases like the Vivekananda Reddy murder.

Naidu urged young engineers to embrace emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), and assured them that AI cannot replace human intelligence. "We should stay ahead of AI and use it to our advantage. Smart work will now be redefined by technological adoption," he said.
The chief minister announced that the state is rolling out WhatsApp Governance from August 15 to provide public services via messaging platforms. He also revealed plans for India's first "Drone City" and "Space City" in Andhra Pradesh, projecting that such forward-looking concepts will spur large-scale investments and job creation.
Home minister Vangalapudi Anitha, DGP Harish Kumar Gupta, Union minister of state Dr Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, MLA Prattipati Pullarao, and other dignitaries attended the event.

The Acharya was born on April 22, 1925, in Shedbal, Belagavi (Karnataka). He received his initiation at a young age and went on to become one of the most prolific Jain scholars of modern times, having memorised over 8,000 Jain Agamic verses. He has authored over 50 works on Jain philosophy and ethics, including Jain Darshan, Anekantavada, and Mokshamarg Darshan. He travelled barefoot across Indian states for several decades, strictly adhering to Kayotsarga meditation, brahmacharya, and extreme austerity. He was instrumental in the restoration and revival of ancient Jain temples across India, including those in Delhi, Vaishali, Indore, and Shravanabelagola, and was closely associated with the Shravanabelagola Mahamastakabhishek and the 2600th Janm Kalyanak Mahotsav of Lord Mahavira. He identified the site of Kundgram (now Basokund) in Bihar as the birthplace of Bhagwan Mahavir, a finding later recognised by the Government of India in 1956. The centenary year will feature programs across India, focusing on community engagement, youth participation, interfaith dialogue, temple outreach, and Jain heritage awareness, ensuring that the timeless message of Acharya Vidyanand Ji reaches future generations. Palaniswami is NDA's chief ministerial candidate for 2026 T.N. Assembly polls: G.K. Vasan
Former Union Minister and Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar) president G.K. Vasan said on Saturday (June 28, 2025) that AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami is the leader of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Tamil Nadu as well as its chief ministerial candidate for the 2026 Assembly elections. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a party function in Salem, Mr. Vasan said there were no issues within the NDA and that it remained a 'strong and victorious alliance.' He alleged that the ruling DMK was trying to create confusion within the NDA. Mr. Vasan added that Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during his visit to Chennai, had clarified the alliance's position, and BJP State president Nainar Nagenthran had also clarified who the NDA leader in Tamil Nadu is, and who the chief ministerial candidate would be. Responding to a question about Mr. Shah not naming Mr. Palaniswami as the chief ministerial candidate in a recent interview, Mr. Vasan said the Union Minister had announced the alliance with the AIADMK by having Mr. Palaniswami seated next to him. Regarding political parties' demand for a coalition government in Tamil Nadu, Mr. Vasan said that there is discussion about the idea among parties in both the ruling and Opposition alliances, and that there is nothing wrong with it.
